Some places the spawn is so slow it's not worth doing. Just 2 people can pretty much wipe out and control the spawn in Destard tram. Rather boring infact if there are 3 people working on killing dragons. I hate sitting and waiting for something to spawn. It's gotten to the point where most places are soloable and a guild can't really do much as a group. Few champs that's about it... Many peerless and such are solo'd now... and going as a team or group means half the folk just stand about waiting... Not fun at all. Corgul is fun for about 5 to 8 people... Scalis would be fun.... but 9x out of 10 no one gets a drop so getting anyone to care about doing one is next to impossible. It's the same with the old leviathans..... we used to hunt them as a guild but folk got irritated with dying for nothing over and over and then after awhile when you'd suggest doing them... no one would want to. Even using my GM (now 120 fisher).... didn't really help it. Still doesn't. Rather wish there were more things you can do as a group.

Blackthorns is a good thing. It takes a group as a rule to do the invasion spawn... which is great because it gives a group something challenging to do. I remember when it was a challenge to go into Destard and kill a dragon.

Yeah to me Scalis is a huge waste of time. The time spent killing the thing, and never getting a drop... My time is better spent farming pinks in Ilsh to s ell, and just buying a drop. sheeesh

Yup. I could just buy the drops if I wanted them (at least, I'd buy the Coral Bracelet & the Leviathan Bracers.) I have no real interest in the other three possible drops from it.

That said, I did 4-5 Scalis on Tuesday night, and I did get one drop from one of the Leviathans that spawned: The Ghost Ship Anchor. I'm seeing that it's worth 15 mil on Atlantic (top price, anyway)

I consider it in very bad taste to jump in on someones spawn myself.. personally if I show up somewhere and someones already working there I move along to my next choice.
Yup. Me too. If I see someone there (which happened a lot more often years ago), I just leave. If it's in Fel (where I do most of my hunting), I can just kill them. Unfortunately, the few times I see people hunting in Fel (that aren't my guildmates), they either run from me or aren't worth the trouble (because I'd get my ass kicked, although having the Blackthorn Mages spawn all to myself was worth the effort the first time I tried it.)

I consider it extremely rude and yes in bad taste to jump someones spawn. I know it's an MMO and all but you have to remember it's an MMO. Everyone wants to play and have fun. I guess that I live by the treat others as you would want them to treat you. So I don't jump spawn and I treat people with the respect they deserve. Eye for an eye as well. You act like a jerk you get treated like a jerk. You act like a thief you get treated like a thief. And if you are a cheating scum you will get treated like one.

I only paged on someone once regarding this...

But it was a situation where I was in the blackthorn mages... the person came in vortexing with two accounts. I left and went to the hell hounds, the person followed me with both accounts and brought a third account votexing..
I ask... Can you please stop following me? I go back to the mages.. the person follows me with all 3 accounts again.. I ask again for them to please stop.... I go back to hell hounds, and the person brings two accounts to hell hounds and leaves one at the mages...

*sigh* THAT is harassment. Not to mention rather juvenile.... But some people in the game will go out of their way to bother you if they don't like you. Randomly showing up somewhere helping people kill things is one thing... Following someone everywhere trying to "bother" them is defiantly harassment.

Just my two cents...

Anyone remembers the old times, when ppl were hiding in the elder gazer rooms until a tamer showed up. That was before splitted loot and those ppl were throwing in 1-2 e-bolts to get looting rights and speed-loot all the gold. Even that wasnt rated as harasment.

In Blackthorn Dungeon you HAVE to join "other" peoples´ spawn, cause these other people are occupying the mage- and hellound-rooms on Trammel 24/7 with their stealth-tamers - afk, of course. For hours and hours. So, usually I dont interfer with other people in their spawns. But Blackthorn´s Dungeon is different: Some people actually occupy 3 rooms with 3 different accounts ALL THE TIME!!! UNATTENDED! This dungeon is a complete mess!!!

So, dont be too polite down there. If you see hidden tamers (always the same dragons) 24/7, never showing up, never giving commands, never moving, never reacting at all: GO IN THERE AND JOIN THEM! They actually even dont notice you being there ;-)

Yes, if you can kill them before me, they are yours! *evil laugh*
Not everyone in the game plays good and noble!
They even give titles for killing good and nobles

and they start killing "your" monsters, is that considered game harassment - someone in my vent says that it is and I say that it isn't so I need a public opinion ruling to settle this argument

I know it's a violation of game "etiquette" - obviously - but is it actually against the terms of service or bannable - I doubt it
I am going to agree with you Kojak, it is not harrasment, or a ToS infraction to kill monsters that others are killing. but it would be nice if the person joining in at least said "Hi" in whatever language they speak.

I think its pretty universally considered rude to take over a spot that someone else is at, but its not harassment. Being inconsiderate isn't against the rules.

On the other hand monopolizing a popular spot is ALSO rude.

I think it goes both ways.

If I ever find a spawn I really wanted to do occupied I personally ask if the person in the area minds help, if they say no, then I leave. They almost always don't mind or even offer to leave so I could take over. But then again I think the fel ruleset breeds civility between non pks, so that could be part of it.

Wow, this again? Where do people get the sense of entitlement to think they actually "own" a spawn?
Just a sub-set of the people that believe vet-reward shard-shields should be allowed for character use every 25 hours and not every 2 weeks :bdh:

Go an hunt in Fel where you CAN deal with griefers.
This only works if you can PvP. If you have a crap computer and/or a crap connection .... going to Fel would be like offering a lamb to the slaughter. An altogether stupid idea for the average PvM crowd. Now granted there are some who mostly PvM would could likely hold there own in Fel. But that's just not for everyone.

Not everyone PvP's ..... and you can't deal with griefers if you can't PvP in Fel. So no... it don't work. Unless of course you are in a large Zerg Guild then you can I suppose do whatever you want in Fel as a general rule. But again... Most of us don't have that luxury. Nor would we want it.

As far as Siege goes I find it interesting to play there. Though more often than not I NEVER see anyone there and by the time I do either they run away or I do.

Well I too think its universally rude to jump someone's spawn. I also think its equally rude to be an a-hole and not share a spawn in certain situations, like the Treasure of Tokuno event(the first one). We had one on legends that basically had the first level of Fan Dancer so full of E-Vortexes you'd lock up. This why the devs made E-Vortexes take control slots. I also think if someone waits and take the kill shot on say Narvey or the DF when me and my group are beating it and have it red lined. Oh that's a major a-hole behavior. I like fel champs cause if someone pulls that at champs, they become a dead a-hole. I generally like hunting in fel for this reason. I sometimes wish all shards were like Seige, hehe. Its only harassment if they follow you from spawn to spawn. I honestly think there must be a million ways to be an A-hole in UO. I just try to think of more ways to not be one or just be nice.
But then there are days like this :
Just remember Dark Helmet and try to laugh!

God forbid people actually die once, have to learn a new aspect of the game, or fight something/someone that actually requires thought rather than just wacking away on a sampire.

This entire thread is laughable and yet again a testament to just how out of touch stratics posters are with actual mmo's and gaming. It's a computer game! Rudeness and etiquette don't exist.

As long as I get the loot I need I could give a rat's ass about your feelings. Welcome to the internet. I look forward to hitting "your" monsters in the future.

And you sir are what is wrong with many people on the internet. You sit safely behind your keyboard in your home thinking you can do whatever you want to whom ever you want. You think you are safely anonymous and untouchable. LMAO the joke is on you my friend. Karma is a pancake and she has teeth. If you sow it, then be prepared to reap it. I'm sure you are the a-hole that pages if someone looks at you funny, but at the same time you go through the game being an a-hole to everyone. Karma's gonna get you one day and I hope we're all there to enjoy it.

By taking a look at this charming response, I think I am starting to understand why you seem to have such problems getting with certain people...

It's a computer game buddy not the real world, I can cut people in line, take their loot, all while being safely anonymous and untouchable...

I need resources, I go and get my resources, I don't care if you're also trying to get your resources.

I don't go around trying to be an a-hole but I'm also not emotionally invested in this game like most stratics posters seem to be. If I want to work a spawn I'll work a spawn regardless of who's there. I don't say hi, I don't ask if I can hit something, and I don't think I should have to. If you're playing a game to make friends and invest in the "community" then go for it (though I find that sad) but don't be surprised when others just play the game outright....

P.S. I've never paged on anyone and I don't believe in karma.

I only responded in this thread b/c I once again am so saddened that this is whom dev's get game feedback from, a bunch of loud, overly demanding, out of touch/old players. It's so apparent why UO is dying.

Oh boy, what an answer. Unfortunately, this world - the real one and the virtual one - is full of people like you. Your posting is so free of empathy and positive emotion that I feel sad for you. What a hopeless and negative attitude.
