By now I'm sure everyone is aware of the issues with the big boats, them disappearing and sailing on their own or whatever is happening and for the unlucky, never finding them again and having them decay away.
I offer an idea that I think is very doable. If your ship decays instead of it disappearing, it reverts back into a deed and returns to the owners backpack or bank as if it were docking itself. All items on board would of course go away but the boat would at least be saved.
Opinions?
Well ... it IS an "idea" ...
I suppose it could possibly be a sufficient plan "B"
When plan "A.1" finally gets chucked ...
.1 being >Fix Plan A<
and Plan "A" being "release a working ship"
*AHEM*
Could also (plan "B" wise) make the new ships like the legacy ones ...
any one tugs on the plank and it "refreshes"
Plank opens up and I can't (cannot) access the hold
can set it adrift, can't rename it though
(Drifted three while looking for popps on cats ... yep! dropped a pile of ore by the mast ... too heavy to carry ...
next pass might try a tamed cat ... long story

)
Anyways
yeah, that's my plan "B";
Child the properties of the legacies to the noob boats
Both will essentially be "permanent" ... as long as there are snoops tugging on the access panels(Planks and mooring lines)
Cargo remains secure for both ... just no "lock down" additions for the legacy class
Both will be recall accessible ... via keys left in the bank
(no long time corpse decay "losing" a key)
Make the keys "clone-able"(copy key) used to be that way ... haven't tried for current state.
Key holders can "over-ride" passenger/stowaway class "trespassers" (one key one "captain")
o'well, tis a dull story anyways ...
