Something I was reminded of while reading - When your stats adjusted your skills! So if you had high INT you had an inate amount of the skills associated with INT.

Making sure I had 20.1 taming (including the stat bump!) because I was going poor buying a new horse ever couple of hours.

Chosing to wear leather armor on my Swords (w/50 magery!) because it meant I didnt run out of dex so fast (in full plate you only had 10 dex!! one hit and you were fatigued!)

Dropping my weapon everytime I cast G-Heal, which was often, because 12 second bandages were too freaking slow!

Keeping a bag of regs and armor in my bankbox so that when I died I didnt have to go back naked and defenseless to try to loot my corpse.

10k was the most gold you could carry.

I remember when I would walk about with my Thief, and light a campfire near a grandmaster swordsman or melee charactor, and watch them cuss me out for makeing their camping go up while melee skill went down (before skill locking)

- I used graph paper to figure out the dimensions of dungeons.
- I used regular paper to chart the progress of my character skills.
- A bird made me see grey.
- I could finally kill a lizardman.
- I was finally able to visit every city in Britannia - a lot of running, fighting, winning, and dying.. fun.

I remember when my bank balance hit 10k, and I thought I was rich!

And I remember being introduced to the richest man in the game who had 1 million gold.

... the cheapest way of housing was building a tent that contained one strongbox as storage.

... every PvPer wore plate armor and the most common PvP template was an archer/mage.

... Fencing was the most useless fighting skill in the game.

... the Crossroads of Britannia were a common hideout for thieves and murderers.

... people actually WALKED through the wilderness, exploring it's beauty.

... Covetous was one of the most popular dungeons that was regularly haunted by murderers.

... you were considered rich when you had 10,000 gp in the bank.

... armor and weapons from monster loot were suitable and commonly used.

... the banks of each city in Britannia were crowded and frequented by many players (including thieves).

... it was recommendable to hide after opening your bank box.

... high-skilled smiths offered their repair services at the Blacksmith Shops in each town.

... most shards were full of active player-run towns.

... Seers supported player communities and provided their towns with extra decoration.

... Counselors helped with their advise and assisted or attended in player-run events.

... murderers annoyed 95% of Britannia's population until the Devs decided to split the world into Trammel and Felucca.

... Some Counselors sued EA for not getting payed for their volontary work, which made EA shut down the Counselor program for good.

... lag was the worst problem of this game.

... my telephone bill was $400 a month due to my long UO sessions and due to the lack of internet flatrates.

- The option to auto rez while losing skill points. (I hope its gone ,not sure)
- GM mage was a force to be reckoned with.
- GMing magery using just regs after 2 years of play.
- Never GMing magic resist after 3 years of play. (99.7)
- losing GM magery any time I used hide macro meant for other char.
- having 100 dex 100 strg 25 int was one the hardest things to do. (for me it seemed)
- I think the strongest weapon was vanguishing hardening indestructable Halbred with magic charges of (X). Im probly wrong but it was long ago.
- Needing Item id or you wouldnt know what was cool or crap.
- a different char having to id same crap for himself or he might smelt it :)
- Tailoring was something somebody else did and I would by a cape off them for 100 gold at brit bank once in a while.
- losing the greatest stuff I ever had (to that point) after bragging to my freind, to a PKer just outside the Brit walls.
- Never actually using my best stuff again so I wouldnt lose it after running as a ghost from a dungeon to bank and back to corpse in 5 min. Hoping someone didnt pick at my bones or they disappear with all my stuff on them because there was no such thing as insurance.
- A neighbor PKer killing me through the walls of his house AND mine with area spells.
- Rares were rare.So much so that I traded a flask for a small tower placed next to mine.(the guy couldnt live without it I guess)
- Macroing of any kind was illegal. A GM busted my freind saying "hello" and hiding over and over with the old shotglass holding down the F1 key trick. Suspended him a week. I think it was more his spaming causing lag but he was told it was macroing.

- GM Provocation and Music meant 100% success everytime
- Unlimited tames, but no bonding
- The naked paladin who resided in the guard tower outside of Delucia, who'd attack anything with negative karma, had the ability to switch between spell casting (Said the actuall words for greater heal/cure) and a viking sword for melee.
- Provoking terathans in terra keep from the "Safe spot" and promptly dying when the terathan avengers teleported onto said safe spot, hehe.
- Everyone wearing GM crafted gear
- Only needing 100 of each reg for a good time
- Standard instruments were all that was needed.

Lots of stuff I miss.

I remember when I used to run around naked and PKing people with an Axe. Omnicron the naked Pk.

I remember guarding 24 hours in the TB faction on legends....

I remember small guilds that were like a real family.

I remember when the best shard was Legends, based on its appeal and family type community.

I remember when there was no freaking Stat/Power scrolls.

I remember when PvP was skill based, not Item.

I remember when 1mil gold was worth upwards of 25$.

Gods I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet.......

Powerhour!..... gods I remember logging each and every one of my characters in one by one each for an hour... going in order.... knowing exactly when the day before I had logged them in so I could log them in exactly at the moment past so I could get the "full" hour.....

I remember having lumberjacking/swords and Archery!........

Trying to GM Magery/Peacing/musicianship while standing on "ophidian Mound" Also where I used to go to work my archery... (on a side note on that I remember I NEVER went to lure anything as my internet connection at that time was SO poor that if joe blow down the street logged on to check his email I was kicked offline for 10 min.... Of course I would be screaming and cursing up a storm cause I was usually inside Shame killing earth eles and at the particular moment I had just tried to use a bandage..... and then being amazed when I returned to find color!..... and some nice person standing next to me healing....*smiles*)..... those were the days...

I remember losing everything I had because it took me over 6 months of playing before I finally learned that "Circle of Tranparency" was NOT a spell you cast... (gods how many laughs I got when I kept asking where I could get the spell).... I remember I died to a couple or dire wolves on the west side of a house.... I would run in ...... see my body lying there run out.... couldn't find my body.... gods I was mad.... eventually I gave up... Fortunatly armor back then wasn't too hard to come by...

I remember when a small tower cost 5 million gold!....... I remember being extremely excited when I actually saved up my first 100k!....

I remember when you could ask npc's for directions...

I remember the first time I heard the gargoyle... I was petrified!..... then it quickly killed me and then killed my pack horse with all the lumber I had worked sooo hard for.....

I remember the first time I heard the sickning laugh of a liche.....

I remember when it would take our entire guild to hunt down a dragon..... I still remember the first bow of "Dragon slaying" that I got..... hehe thought I was going to take on a dragon finally solo!...... I ran right up to it... took aim and fired...... then I ran for my life as I was quick to notice that his life bar hardly budged!!!!

I also remember I had loads of friends I would talk to down at the smithy!.. The Smith shop in Brit was the hang out!

I remember when there were loads of people in RP... and we would hang out at Lord British's Castle... and hold council..... Feels like forever ago... Back then you were in a definate minority if your character had a L33T dUdE name.... there were alot more people with normal names....

On that note I remember no restrictions on names.... it let you name your character ANYTHING!!

Practice weapons..... starting with 100 gold.

Walking or riding everywhere cause I didn't have any magery... and no way to mark runes... didn't know how to use them either....
