Does anyone else get fed up with people blocking recall spots to an I.D.O.C?
Should this be made illegal?
Should this be made illegal?
Ha! Great plan!I second this! There should be a feature built into UO that any time you drop something it does a check to see if it would be blocking anyones rune!
Think of the IDOCers!!!
Unfortuneately you are soooooo right, its a right pain in the bum. Not very good game conduct at all and nothing can be done, the rune checker is a good plan but like you said, not do-able!I think it's rude and not the kind of UO I would play but I don't think there is much we can do about it.
No, it shouldnt be illegal. All you have to do is mark more then a single spot. I always mark one out of the way, and another on the other side of the first. I have yet to have both of them blocked.Does anyone else get fed up with people blocking recall spots to an I.D.O.C?

I wouldn't say I was moaning, Just posing a simple question, cause for a good debate!People will find anything to complain about these days![]()

a) The Devs can remove the block code. Instead of you being blocked the item is moved to an adjacent tile that isn't stacked full.I think it's rude and not the kind of UO I would play but I don't think there is much we can do about it.
That's not even possible. Runes are linked to a location, but locations aren't linked to any rune. The server would need to check all the runes of all the players each time someone drops something somewhere. That would be some mighty mayhem. ^^I second this! Maz only posted this after we attended an IDOC at which the ground was literally covered for screens around with red boxes. Thats not someone unknowingly parking their packy on your recall spot, thats somebody going out of their way to try and keep the IDOC all for themselves. Sure IDOCers occasionally try to block each other's runes, but a line has to be drawn somewhere to curb this kind of antisocial behaviour.
Was that a Tokuno one, or am I thinking of a different one?Maz only posted this after we attended an IDOC at which the ground was literally covered for screens around with red boxes. A Malas fall, but it seems they are multi-faceted. Luckily I remembered the general area in which it was located (between a mountain and the void) so I was able to use the excellent UO Travelogues maps to navigate back to it and re-mark runes. Was that a Tokuno one, or am I thinking of a different one?Maz only posted this after we attended an IDOC at which the ground was literally covered for screens around with red boxes. I'm torn on the field of boxes issue...
On the one hand, it's deliberately blocking the recall spots, and all the things everyone knows.
On the other hand, an IDOC is like any other loot producing spawn. In a competitive situation, you have to either be better than the other person, or prevent them from being as good as you.
It's tricky. I think in that situation, I'd have marvelled at their dedication, then tried to overcome it. Approaching from a distance and an axe would work pretty well, I'd think. Then, if you just stick around, recall spots wouldn't be a problem.
This is a terrible thread. If you dont want your runes blocked like everyone else says, mark a few runes around the house. I have mistakenly done the same as you and marked and my rune was blocked. I didnt cry about it. If your a good IDOC hunter you'd remember where they are jot down the coords.Does anyone else get fed up with people blocking recall spots to an I.D.O.C?

Agreed. The most obvious recall spots are always blocked. If you have several runes made, there...problem prevented and solved. AND, someone's day is ruined because you are there waiting with them for it to fall. How about setting up more than a single rune spot, one far enough away that they don't know? Simple solution, and the primary reason why this sort of thing isn't illegal. Because it's easy to get around it.
Oh yeah, that'll fix the problem of IDOC blockers.make it so anything put down OUTSIDE and not in a private house where you have "Friend Rights" or higher decays in 30 seconds.
Problem solved.
LOL! The good old days eh?I remember how UO USED to be, it used to be uphill in two feet of snow BOTH ways...
Why they put what in? *confused*LOL! The good old days eh?
On topic, as most posters have pointed out, mark multiple spots. 1 far away enough that people won't see you recall in and run over to block your spot. Esp if you camp IDOCs in Fel.
Instead of relying on devs/gms to solve my problem, it's much more comforting to rely on myself, or at least solutions that do not require dev/gm intervention I have to wait for.
And instead of making it illegal or making extra code to detect if players are blocking someone's recall spot, simply remove the blocking of recalls when the spot is occupied.
That's how it was initially, no blocking if someone is standing on your recall spot. Can't remember why they put it in...
Why they put in recall blocking if something is in your spot. Why they put what in? *confused*
