I am wondering if I should resubscribe to Ultima and get moving on Siege, so I decided to bug you with some question.
I played UO from the end of 98 until I believe somewhere around 2001, then lured by eyecandy I went to DAoC which I enjoyed, after this I think I tried every mmo out there only to realize that they are basically all the same, you play on rails, you gear and level grind and there is no freedom, no risk, not a feeling of actually beeing in a fantasy world. Last example was Rift which looked pretty but at the end of the day its the same as any other modern mmo out there just in different clothes
I then thought about UO and how even mining was more thrilling than the usual gameplay these days.
I am not sure if this is because the type of players who play mmos changed over the years as they became more mainstream but mostly I miss the stories which evolved automatically in UO purely playerdriven, you had good guys, bad guys, traders, bards, etc. People actually played if you know what I mean.
Well however, maybe returning to my first mmo love is the way to go. I reactivated my account half a year back only to realize that my thief was mostly useless, most of equipment was insured and the game itself looked very itemized, so trying to pvp in gm crafted stuff kind of wouldn't cut it anymore and I closed it again :O
Now that I am pretty disillusioned with modern mmos I am thinking to set foot on Siege. Not really so fuzzed that it will take a long time to max out a character, just curious how the population is ? Is it actually still worth trying to start anew here ? Or would I be running for hours without seeing a soul ? Are there still housing spots or is everything full ? How does Siege feel ? (odd question I know
)
sorry for the wall of text and thanks for some advise
