Forged Pardons

Correct me if I am wrong, but were forged pardons not intended to help players with red characters have a shot at being blue again? That being said, I have seen no such event actually take place. Instead, there is a guild who's name I will not mention (who almost entirely consist of blue, non-faction characters) that are using them as a get out of jail free card to take counts whenever needed. Normally, I would not oppose blues flagging grey to me, but it is kind of ridiculous that I have to wait for 5-6 of them to flag me before being able to defend myself.

I can already foresee the reply of "well, why don't you flag grey and use forged pardons yourself?". The simple answer to that is when there are typically 6-10 and even more at times of them, and only a couple of us, we do not have the luxury of being able to spread counts out among countless characters. I have personally turned 3 members of their guild red only to see them hiding in guards 5 minutes later as a blue. Apparently, it is ok to pk other players as long as you have enough forged pardons to go blue again.

Personally, I think forged pardons should give reds the opportunity to enter tram (able or unable to flag other players?) for a fixed duration. It's about time reds got something that actually didn't restrict their play to the extent of only having one valid use.

which means if you go red, you are red for the rest of the day.

I don't really consider that a solution...more like a very weak compromise. If this is what forged pardons are being used for what was the point in even adding them to the game? To give blues yet another advantage, and the same abilities as reds with very little consequence? Seems like a double standard to me.

The pardons were a good idea, but maybe they should have made them so they only spawn in chests when a red decodes the map, digs up the chest, and picks the lock. In fact, if they required a red to do all 3 of those steps, I wouldn't have a problem if a pardon was guaranteed or at least had a very good chance of spawning in every higher level chest.

It's not realistic for someone who has been red for 2 or 3 years to go blue using forged pardons...I do not understand what they thought these were going to be used for.

I think it should work similar to the way that factions worked when they gave a gave a pardon to all murders who joined when it first came out. Reducing counts to around 4 or so. When players became red again, all counts were restored, essentially removing the pardon.

So I think if a player commits a murder within X time after using a pardon counts should be restored.

Also a player should not be able to use a pardon within X time after committing a murder.

Forged pardons were created to reduce murder counts. I don't remember them saying that only reds could use them or that you had to have x number of murder counts before you could use them. Forged pardons reduces the users murder counts by 1. (Single Use) Sounds like some blue players are using them to thier maxium benifit. Make a T-hunter and go do chests just like they did.

Although, if you can get out of grey with them they are really stupid It should keep your current colour unless you go from 5 to 4 kills if you use them as a non red it should keep you as your colour and you should have to have a count to use them.

I still think the concepts of murdercounts is obsolute in today's UO.
Just make everyone in Felucca Grey and have a real PvP facet and not one where reds play the system and blues have to care if they become reds.

it's certainly a compromise, but not a weak one. you are crying about people using forged pardons to go red and blue numerous times per day, my idea would solve that problem without nerfing the forged pardon

What I am :sad2: about is that the ONLY valid use of a red character, killing other blue characters, has been handed to the same blubies who are too afraid to go red. Reds cannot go to 4/5 facets, are freely attackable by anyone, are NOT free to attack anyone, and aren't even able to invoke virtues. But yet, with forged pardons a blue can do everything a red cannot including what a red can do. This to me seems very wrong.

When these were talked about I stated that they were a bad idea and would be abused by the types that only want to grief, shocking but it seems I was correct.

There was no good reason for these to be placed in the game. I've never ran into a situation where my blue champing guys have gone red defending a spawn, reds raid me just like my reds raid blues. My ****** gate chars are red and should be. My faction chars are orange to any other faction player and most are red to everyone else.

so why would my idea be bad? it means once u go red u are red for the whole day. it would fix the problem

I never said your idea was bad, I said it is not a solution. Red for one whole day...big whoop. How is that equivalent to my main character with 900+ counts who has been red for almost 5 years now? There needs to be a much greater deterrent of using forged pardons to go blue than waiting one day. I always thought the original count system was somewhat harsh, waiting 40 hours to burn one count, but I now realize this was an excellent system and should not have been interfered with.

There should have been some type of increasing amount needed if your useing these daily or on a constant basis.
