Ok.. been farming Unbound Energy Vortexs in Shame for awhile now & I'm curious how my methods stack up to everyone elses..

Sampire..

120 Tac
110 Anat
120 Mace
120 Ninja
100 Hiding
99 Necro
50 Bush

45 HCI / DCI , 180 Stam,100 DI, 1/3 FC (will be 2/6 when I can afford a better Turq ring),140 hp, 40 lmc, 927 Luck on Suit atm (could add another 160 though), 14 MR (GM Hiding was GM Med initially, but I find the Hiding more useful for getting things setup the way I want.

Basic Idea is to Honor for another 1,000 luck If I'm trying for high luck, & to spam mirror images(ninja skill determines their effectiveness) while AI'ing them down. Takes about 4 - 4.5 Minutes Usually (& there's some more optimization to be done) I know there is a bunch of improvements I can make to the suit, but it was re-purposed from another char so I figure I will wait till pub 81 hits. Anyway, What are other people using and how long are your kills taking & with what level of luck are you finding yourself happiest? I've heard several theories about high luck on low end creatures & low luck on high end etc..

Exchanging Sampire skills for Disco + Music did work, but it was not *better* than with usual skills (Bushido, Chivalry mainly). On the other hand, if you can get a friend to help you with his / her bard using Discordance on the UEVs speeds up things a lot. I don't know if Provocation works on UEVs.

I use it for Enemy of one, consecrate weapon, divine fury, and then an emergency heal every once in a while. I am still working on my suit so it is taking me 5-6 minutes to take them down. My template is

120 Bushido (105 + 15 jewelry)
120 Swords
120 Tactics
120 Anatomy
99 Necro
96 Chivalry
60 parry

I run:

120 Swords
120 Tactics
120 Anat
120 Bushido
100 lumber
99 Necro
41 Chiv

With 50 EP I can take one down before my pots wear off.

Yeah I love taking sampire down there. I've seen some good loot (un-cursed) but sadly never a good combo of mods on same jewels.

As for my template I run with:

120 swords
120 bush
120 tactics
100 anatomy
100 necro
85 chiv
60 parry

45 DCI / 45 HCI
40 LMC
100 Damage increase
150 STR

With a slayer (Air Elemental) EoO is useless. If you are using Armor Ignore, you don't need to worry about consecrate weapon (but can use a physical/poison weapon if you are really worried about it), and can run potions for stamina/healing. And you can use confidence for a heal as well.

question on this, and since im new to the imbuing community I still have quite a bit to learn.
So I made 2 leafblades, one of them was Elemental Slayer and other Air Elemental Slayer
Both had same properties or close to it (40 di, 60 LL, 60 ML and like 50 SL)

I was expecting more to be honest...was very shocked that even when I honored and was gaining in perfection I was only hitting for 60-77 on average, and when my stam would drop and would start losing in perfection damage was only 34-44 on average...mind you im getting used to using pots, and have to really embrace them I think.

But what I did notice and this brings me to my main point, is that with the slayer, whether it was the SS or Air Ele both damage output was lower when I didn't cast EoO.
Grant it damage output was amazing on AI and could pretty much spam LS with ease. But even still there were some scary points when I would get whacked a couple times in a row and stam would drop and swing speed wasn't there. Currently running 120 hps and 185 stam with 50 mana

What would be wise on a weap to take there? I really enjoy fighting these mobs, but would like to make it less hairy sometimes :p I have DI and HCI on my ring and bracelet, and have a ok suit setup right now, but waiting to make my new one. Just really hoping to be able to farm them a while and get a clean ssi ring or bracelet down there

I've done it with a leafblade, hatchet, and broadsword spamming AI and not a single scary moment. It's so boring that I'm rarely watching the screen and sometimes look up to find 2 of them on me at the same time. I didn't see any mention of vamp form so I'm guessing you rely on life leech from the weapon? That could be why you've had some scary moments.

My weapons for them have like Slayer, Hit Stamina Leech, Hit Mana Leech, Hit Lower Attack and something else. I have 100 DI on the suit. It's been a while since I've killed them. But I run pretty much the same template against them that I do on other peerless level creatures where I find Chiv a waste of space.

Then again, I am beginning to think that resisting spells is a waste too when the higher level creatures can still mana vamp you to 0 when you have 120 resist. But that's another conversation.

No im in Vamp Form, suit is all 70's and 73 energy in vamp form
makes me think im doing something wrong now....hrm
using a leafblade I cant spam AI like I keep reading about even with max Mana Leech on my weap and 40 lmc, can cast it like 4-5 times and that's it then I have to wait for mana to build back up.

Grant it this is my first samp, and using a mediocre suit...I still don't think I should be having that much trouble...I would honestly be scared if 2 showed up :p and I know I shouldn't be...

Ya with AI I'm hitting between 162 and 222 (hatchet/GM lumberjacking) damage per hit, stamina or health are never a problem. Mana goes up and down, sometimes I get a streak of AI hits then there are times I run out after 5 or 6. Keep in mind I'm also running 130 mana so i have more opportunity to hit a good mana leech. But there are times during the fight i run out...

My sampire runs as follows.

120 Swords
120 tactics
120 Parry
120 Bushido
120 Chiv
100 Necro
20 focus

Suit I am running gives me

45/45 HCI / DCI
20% SSI (tinker legs / ring and brace with 5% on)
150 STR (without pots)
150 Dex (without Pots)
150 hp
185 Stamina
75 Mana
10% LMC
100 DI
3 MR

all 70's with 75 in energy.

Tactics is as follows. I use a bladed staff, no need for SSI on the wep as my suit and stam give me max swing speed have 80% hit mana leech, air elem slayer, stam leech and hit poison area.

No need to honor them for me, I use EoO, Cons wep, and DF that combined with Air elem slayer gives me the 100 DI cap and the 300% Damage modifer cap. , I flag two at once and then on main target I alternate between AI and Momentum strike and keep counter attack active, basically I am dropping a 180 or so AI then hitting both with a lower damage attach but this just means I am always at max mana and I am killing both at once, the counter attack is cool too as its a free attack that doesn't feth the swing timer up. With my suit and stam set up I don't really need maxed out LMC or mana regain, with no SSI on the weps I can have very good mana leech and I am hitting as hard as I can be. Main reason I come here is to farm void orbs but the cores and gold are OK too. Not really considered loot in terms of luck and for farming items but even with my no luck set up I still find some really nice cursed pieces that I use as throw away suits for specific situations.

Thanks,

What's your mana pool look like? If you don't have enough even with 40 LMC and good mana leech you'll still run out due to the double mana cost (24 for AI even with 40 LMC and 300 skill points I believe) and one bad leech. Lynk I know uses like 90ish, that's what I'm planning on getting up to when I redo my suit. Just waiting for the next publish to finally drop.

Me too. I plan to drop -5 energy resist with my elf sampire for +5 DCI (bringing me to 50 DCI max) and run in 5 pieces of Studded Leather (for the 15 LMC bonus). Looking forward to giving this a try. I am interested to see how the stamina changes will affect warrior gameplay.

As much as I like the +20 mana for the elf, I think that depending on the stamina loss and what the difference is, I may run a human in studded leather (which is a good thing if it's enough of an effect to make me have a choice).

I honor mainly for the 1000 luck bonus. Don't you honor them at all?
Oh shoot have I been figuring in honor luck incorrectly? I always used the calculation 1200 luck at 120 skill, etc.

I don't know what my mental block in accepting perfection luck at 1000 and not 1200 is but darnit maybe it will stick this time. That means my luck suit with bonuses is only 3950 not 4150. Fortunately in 5 more months the luck statue will give me that last 50 to hit 4000.

I like the idea of no parry and using mirror images, how often do you get hit? I run gm hiding, 120 bush, 120 tactics, 120 swords, 100 necro, 60 chiv, 120 parry. I use jewels to get the skills up. Takes me 5 minutes and 30 seconds using my Luck suit.

I can tank 3 unbounds and never drop below half life with images. It does slow my kill time down though bc I have to cast more instead of swing. Probably 5.5 min w/ 3 evs on me. Images at 120 ninja deflect 90% of all hits. It might even be 90% PER image which is better heh.

template: sampiredin as described some threads below.

luck: 2050 base + 1000 perfection + 600 statue: I switch to this equipment when the UEV is nearly dead and kill it to get the luck bonus.
