The Bacon Explosion, every man's dream come true. People on ChaCha were making them, so I decided to make my own tonight. Now I'm not cooking it till tomorrow, but it's made! Here are the step by step pictures:

The 5x5 bacon weave, with a few extra strips for structure..

Dry rub and some Colby Jack cheese added (personal touch)...

The sweet Italian Sausage on top..

The cooked bacon layer..

BBQ Sauce added!...mmmm

The roll, almost perfect..

Seasoning added and ready for the fridge..

Stay tuned tomorrow for the final product!!
(I'm excited!)

LOL! You might be on to something. Let see. There were all those buffets at the casino. That melt and chili fries at that restaurant. And now the everlasting heart stopper. Maybe rename it to Elga's Butt Explosion. :D

 Oh snap! I don't plan on eating the whole thing though, I am sharing! What would be good though is a slice of that, lettuce, and tomato in some bread. Now that would be a BLT! Mmmmhmmm. I like Big Butts and I cannot lie..

LOL! J/K! I am not a bacon lover so it is lost on me. I do eat the occasional BLT in the summer when the tomatoes are good. It does look a tad fattening. :D

BUT.....I don't think you ever said how it was other than "salty"? Was it good? My kids love bacon and sausage. This is a little bit of overkill but I might try it as a novelty. Not sure about all that BBQ sauce though. Let us know what your mom and her secretary thought of it!! (and you too)

They loved it, but they both really like bacon! It was actually pretty good, if you like mustard that is good on top. You could mix it up and not add the sauce or the rub. We also thought that maybe adding eggs and peppers and onions would make it for breakfast like. The already cooked bacon on the center is the "Explosion" part I think, that could probably go without. On a scale of 10, I give this an 8.5!

LOL Josh, I was wondering how long it was gonna take you to be repulsed!!! I actually showed the pics to my oldest dgt (17) who likes bacon and sausage and lets just say she wasnt impressed. I think her words were "that looks disgusting"!!! I still think we will just have to try it once though. I cant imagine how good it smells as it cooks. I will just pass out blind folds when I serve it!!:thumbup1:

Better yet, buy a pet pig. Let everyone fall in love with it... and then kill it in front of them! Yummy, fresh killed pig.

Awww, are you still threatening to eat Annette's pet fish?? Hey, I understand where you are coming from though. But I have to say, my hubbys brother buys 2 pigs every spring and the kids visit all the time and yes, play with the pigs and name them. He doesnt kill them in front of them but they know what is gonna happen from the start and they do enjoy the sausage and the ham. I was never quite able to eat it though!!

We actually gave away Annette's fish. Nobody wanted to clean the tank (well Annette is too young). We told her she could have fish once she's old enough to clean the tank.

It's funny, Annette already says she wants to be a vegetarian... later. She's funny. One day when she's older we need to go to a slaughterhouse for "inspiration".

I could never get my daughters to go vegetarian. I've already explained to Savanna what bologna is made of, and she just said "huh, ok" and still eats the stuff. Ewww! Then when we pass cows in a field she says, "Yum! Steak! Mom, I want steak for dinner!" She's heartless!!!

Huh.. and I have the opposite problem. Though my daughter just went from vegan to vegetarian.. again. She changes often, just can't decide, and I don't spose there's anything wrong with that. At the risk of turning this into an argument, I'm happier when she's a meat eater simply because she is healthier when she is.

The health argument... yeah we probably shouldn't. I know in many cases cutting out meat increases health both from personal experience and scientific studies. But I can't comment on her specific case. Maybe it's what she's eating (not enough of something she needs). Maybe she's just weird (likely considering her mother). Or maybe it's all a big lie and meat eating is healthier. Though I highly doubt that.

Not eating what she should be.. that's a yes. But it's not from lack of the right stuff. The right stuff wilted away in the fridge as she ate other stuff. Beings as she's 18, there's not a lot I can say to her now. And she had in her head that taking a supplement where she's lacking was good enough, because she read it on one of the vegan sites.

Yeah she's as weird as me or maybe even moreso. Poor thing.

As for your third point.. respectfully, I do believe balance is a good thing. And while I can't always pursue them (because of the cost), there are more humane meat food choices out there.

My youngest is pretty much a vegetarian. The only meat she will eat is the occasional hot dog. I don't even consider that meat! She lives on peanut butter, mac n cheese, yogurt, kashi, and fruit. She really isn't even a vegetarian as she eats no veggies! She is the world's pickiest eater, unlike my other two that ate everything.

Balance?? Why would I want that? :D Humane? I think you misunderstand, it's not that I love animals, I just REALLY HATE plants.

(Yes that's a quote from somebody, don't know who to credit though.)

OK, seriously, for me it was a spiritual choice. Was reading some stuff, watched a movie and... it just felt like the right thing to do. At the time I was even thinking I would let myself have meat at family gatherings (like Thanksgiving) just for convenience and to be part of the group. But... when the time came I just didn't want to... at all. It no longer felt right. Another interesting thing, my taste in food changed over time. When I was a meat eater I would put up with salads because they are healthy. Now I actually enjoy them and sometimes feel I need one.

Once you stop meat for a while eating it again (by accident in my case when a restaurant screws up) actually makes you a little sick in the stomach. It's not a psychological thing, there are times that I don't realize my food was cooked with "unclean" pans until I get home and feel "meat sick". I really wonder if that indicates it's not what I'm meant to eat if the body has to get used to it (obviously that didn't happen when I was a meat eater). I never have to get used to any of my salad ingredients. Some may taste like crap up front but you don't get sick later from them even if you haven't eaten that food in a long time.

Regarding killing, I may come off as a hard liner but killing is killing. For me killing a person humanely (or not) isn't an option, same with animals. But to each his own. The whole spiritual aspect is very personal so I'm doing my best to just say what I feel rather than what anyone else should feel. :)

You do, but that's not even what I meant :p

Our health food store downtown sells free range beef. Someone has a farm, the cows eat natural foods with no hormones and additives. The cows themselves get no shots or hormones. When they die (as in not killed), the cow is butchered. MUCH better meat (taste and health). Organic eggs.. same thing.. chickens fed natural foods, no tiny cages, no stress. They pop the eggs when they wanna. MUCH better tasting eggs.

Arhm, my littler sister is like that.

Shes like every time you kill a cow you kill part of my soul, and im like, okay eat your hamburger, then she dosnt eat, she'll pick her salad apart.

I Think alot of young girls do this, i didnt recall my brother doing it..

Yeah, for health reasons, if I was still eating meat I'd probably do what you do (and my wife would get mad at me for spending too much money... which I always manage vegan or not).

Also I'll admit, I'm a "fake" vegan because I do free range eggs. Sometimes I go without eggs for a while but I'm also allergic to wheat so I say f-it and do the free range eggs.

And I do understand it's better to kill while keeping the pain minimized, I just feel the whole "food" and "health" argument regarding animals is a popular fallacy. In my case my beliefs don't condone it anyways so the choice is easy. But I am also a big fan of choice. You can't "save" anyone who doesn't want to be saved, if you believe meat is OK then eat your meat. I think the ecological impact may change the way we eat in the near future anyways (factory farms bring up a lot of environmental issues) and although you apparently don't support them by shopping local and small, the majority of meat purchases do.

BTW, it feels like you are being too polite with me on this subject. Please be open, I'm really hard to offend especially when I like someone. :) (Yes, I admit it, I like Trish... come on, she's still in my signature!)

LOL, not "too polite". I believe one way, you believe another. I can see your side, why fight about it? Kinda like I can understand why people are gay, I just can't see myself batting for the other team. Ya know? And there's nothing I can say you haven't heard. And same goes for you to me. I'm a lover, not a fighter. Sorry :p

On the bacon explosion...

Leno described it (bacon wrapped around sausage wrapped around more bacon).. That's the bacon part, the explosion is your heart after you eat the thing.

If you want to kill yourself quickly...
Breakfast, no longer the most important meal of the day.. But now the last meal of your life. It's meant to be a portable breakfast so that you can take it with you in the ambulance when your heart stops. When it first came out it was referred to as an international breakfast.. That's because after you eat it, your ass will be on both sides of the border.

As if we weren't killing ourselves fast enough, that bacon explosion is a suicide meal. Be sure to drink plenty of fat juice while gorging on that thing!

Then when we pass cows in a field she says, "Yum! Steak! Mom, I want steak for dinner!" She's heartless!!!
Sure she's not related to me? I see a chicken and a pig and my thought is "when's breakfast?". I see a cow and I'm in the mood for steak with mac/cheese (milk product).

Huh.. and I have the opposite problem. Though my daughter just went from vegan to vegetarian.. again. She changes often, just can't decide, and I don't spose there's anything wrong with that. Meat actually is part of a healthy diet. It's got certain qualities about it that other foods don't that our bodies need. Not trying to encourage someone to give up being a veggie, just stating a point.

My youngest is pretty much a vegetarian. The only meat she will eat is the occasional hot dog. I don't even consider that meat! She lives on peanut butter, mac n cheese, yogurt, kashi, and fruit. Oh she'd hate me. I make something to eat (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and that's the only option. Either eat or starve, but this isn't Burger King damnit.

Organic eggs.. same thing.. chickens fed natural foods, no tiny cages, no stress. They pop the eggs when they wanna. MUCH better tasting eggs.
Or the chickens may be sneaking off to the local store to buy the eggs and then sit on them as though they popped them out.

Believe me Fangs, she would rather starve. She has a sensory disorder that is just now getting a little better. She cannot even sit at the table with us when we eat most times. She will throw up at the sight or smell of many foods. The thought of even eating chicken will make her throw up. My other two kids ate what we ate. No ifs, and, or buts. This last kid is going to put me in an early grave.
