Our politics....? *scratches head*
Yep. There is a group of people who enjoy the power they have. Don't care about 'fair' play or understand how things work, yet spend enough time here lobbying for the preservation of 'the status quo' while complaining that 'the status quo' isn't good enough.
For example: stealthers don't like the idea of changing things so that stealth can be properly countered. They complain that the shard feels empty. Those who don't want to deal with the brokeness, got fed up and left. The shard is basically in a slow spiral of attrition and riddled with irony (hidden players complaining about an empty feeling shard).
The community interacts primarily on 3 levels.
1. Forums
2. Global chat
3. personalized chat (vent/mumble/etc.)
And we want to increase in game interaction?! hah
A second example is people complaining about faction items and how it ruined things b/c the best people are way overpowered and they can't compete. It's always been that way, long before faction items. Except they didn't even have access to it (at the current cost of statloss). The best of the best always have been overpowered. The problem is mainly, people got a taste for an elevated lifestyle and the high ruined them for good.
This community can't come together to do what's best for the shard. There's too many self-serving interests that get in the way. Years ago, when I lobbied the top PvPers to give up their item advantage for a fair system by asking for increased loot for all. The effort was ruined by people who it would have benefited the MOST because they couldn't get their demand to ask the devs to remove faction arties for good. Selfishness got in the way of boosting loot (and competitiveness for all).
So, you see... it's completely politics.
Just like the numbnuts whos mocking the idea that detect hidden is broken (because a lot of good it does investing 200 skill points into tracking/detect if once you detect someone, they can instantly rehide while you wait for 10 seconds to try and detect again... just enough time for their timer to reset and rehide once detected... and round and round the stupid feature goes.)
This is never going to get better or change unless the developers make the correct changes without any sort of consent/input. And good luck with that.
