This. How many god damned times are they going to introduce some new bit of content just to have it screech to a halt right out of the gate as everyone camps in front of some stupid vendor?Hes probably talking now of the vendor for the treats for the hell hounds. (This years helloween event)
The economics of High Seas couldn't have been more of a trainwreck if they had tried. Yeah, whew, just look at that thriving player-to-player market that has revitalized crafting: A bunch of people muling everything, and a few Luna vendors charging more for one powder charge than multiple dead pirates are even worth. If they hadn't done it that way you would have been spending 500 gold per saltpeter.
are you kidding, this is the new answer for pvp !!! No one wants to go to fel to pvp so now they bring it to you. Who is the best consumer among us ?agreed
Why is a vendor involved in a halloween event
to compete for drops from monsters is one thing....to compete with players to buy stuff from vendors is utterly ridiculous...
And meYou can blame me if you like. I suggested it during beta.
I thought a constant price but needing worked up was preferable to prices escalating through the roof.
Become faster at clicking and you wouldnt have to buy them from me at 25k a pop, if i can make a nice profit...I WILL...step up or get outOn GL there's a guy standing there buying all the treats as soon as they spawn and then selling them for 10-20k a pop.
In RL people would goto jail for that.

Wow...that is an impressive skill...do you have to GM point and click? Do have the title of "Legendary Vendor Buyer"???Become faster at clicking and you wouldnt have to buy them from me at 25k a pop, if i can make a nice profit...I WILL...step up or get out
Great holiday event, devs. Lotta fun.Become faster at clicking and you wouldnt have to buy them from me at 25k a pop, if i can make a nice profit...I WILL...step up or get out
after you get one and try it, you don't want to buy anymore, those ancient hell hounds are not easy.Seriously, camping a vendor is NOT FUN. I defy anyone from EA to justify this garbage.
This. Why are there ANY reagent style vendors?
Every vendor should stock 999 of an item. There is no reason on earth why you should have to camp out for regs, scrolls, etc.
Maybe one day in the past there was a way to make 'money' by buying regs and selling in bulk at higher cost but honestly in the time it takes to make a few k you can go out and kill 10 monsters for 10k.
It is a bad bad feature in the game and there is no reason why any vendor should not be auto-restocked. Period. Regs, armor, weapons, sewing kits whatever....

I remember back in the day when I would pick up regs from off the ground almost everytime I'd come across them by using UOAssist macro or somethingNo not that.
There is only one remedy to the problem of increasing reagent prices and that would be to go and pick them up off the ground. *shakes head*
No one wants to do that.
Me too. But I wont get wistful about it. I mean really the only reason to need to buy regs now is for potions, for those you have to buy in bulk, so I would love to be able to buy 500 at a time. But not if it means that to keep the price down I have to go and collect them again in HUGE amounts.I remember back in the day when I would pick up regs from off the ground almost everytime I'd come across them by using UOAssist macro or something
Same thing happening here in Napa... I have yet to see a treat form the guy its been camped solid since release. On GL there's a guy standing there buying all the treats as soon as they spawn and then selling them for 10-20k a pop.
In RL people would goto jail for that.

Would you like to revert to the old system, where each vendor had a different quantity and timer and most were selling 20 of one commodity once a day?Why are there ANY reagent style vendors?

Yes. This torturous bullcrap with NPC merchants adds nothing to the game. Remove things like boards/ingots from the vendors, things that take player skills to gather, and then stock an infinite quantity of everything else for a fixed price.Would someone who is good at math like to extrapolate what the price would be by now using the 'commodity' system?
I guess what you're really asking for is the stock level of the commodity system but with the constant price of the reagent system?
It was like that at one point in time. Was that one of the changes made between pub 15 and 16?Yes. This torturous bullcrap with NPC merchants adds nothing to the game.
