Seriously, camping a vendor is NOT FUN. I defy anyone from EA to justify this garbage.

If they hadn't done it that way you would have been spending 500 gold per saltpeter.

You can blame me if you like. I suggested it during beta.

I thought a constant price but needing worked up was preferable to prices escalating through the roof.

Hes probably talking now of the vendor for the treats for the hell hounds. (This years helloween event)

Yeah how do you mess up that badly on such an obvious thing after the whole saltpeter issue less than a month ago?

This. How many god damned times are they going to introduce some new bit of content just to have it screech to a halt right out of the gate as everyone camps in front of some stupid vendor?

The economics of High Seas couldn't have been more of a trainwreck if they had tried. Yeah, whew, just look at that thriving player-to-player market that has revitalized crafting: A bunch of people muling everything, and a few Luna vendors charging more for one powder charge than multiple dead pirates are even worth.

Why is a vendor involved in a halloween event

to compete for drops from monsters is one thing....to compete with players to buy stuff from vendors is utterly ridiculous...

On GL there's a guy standing there buying all the treats as soon as they spawn and then selling them for 10-20k a pop.

In RL people would goto jail for that.

And me

I stick to my guns though, yall would have been screaming your lungs out at how unfair it was to have to pay 500 gold for salt peter with no way to remedy the problem.

The solution as it stands now (with the exception of there again being too few vendors) is still a better long term fix than the reagent style vendor, but without a mining option more people would have been able to satisfy the market at the outset if many vendors had been deployed on the day of launch. The line of reasoning for the change was correct. But others did not believe us on the matters of scale and scope.

So there.:scholar:

Wow...that is an impressive skill...do you have to GM point and click? Do have the title of "Legendary Vendor Buyer"???

What did you study in college? Maybe a major in butt scratching with a minor in nose picking?

Didnt realize the skill it took to wait around for a vendor to restock

Why are there ANY reagent style vendors?

Every vendor should stock 999 of an item. There is no reason on earth why you should have to camp out for regs, scrolls, etc.

Maybe one day in the past there was a way to make 'money' by buying regs and selling in bulk at higher cost but honestly in the time it takes to make a few k you can go out and kill 10 monsters for 10k.

It is a bad bad feature in the game and there is no reason why any vendor should not be auto-restocked. Period. Regs, armor, weapons, sewing kits whatever....

Simple fix.....

Just put a weight on each treat of 25-50 stones. Nobody gonna buy them all that way. If they do they will just drop to the ground :)

No not that.

There is only one remedy to the problem of increasing reagent prices and that would be to go and pick them up off the ground. *shakes head*

No one wants to do that.

I remember back in the day when I would pick up regs from off the ground almost everytime I'd come across them by using UOAssist macro or something

Me too. But I wont get wistful about it. I mean really the only reason to need to buy regs now is for potions, for those you have to buy in bulk, so I would love to be able to buy 500 at a time. But not if it means that to keep the price down I have to go and collect them again in HUGE amounts.

That is not the game I want to play.

They need to yank crap like ingots off of vendors completely and just sell everything else in infinite quantities for a fixed price. The crap they have now is just a big irritation for no real reason. No one is out there trading between vendors for their money. No one gives a crap about the NPC economy, they just want their stuff.

4:30AM, zero hellhound treats to be had. Seriously, great holiday.

Would someone who is good at math like to extrapolate what the price would be by now using the 'commodity' system?

I guess what you're really asking for is the stock level of the commodity system but with the constant price of the reagent system?

Ahh it's not too bad, scarcity means some of us get to sell dozens of sashs for decent prices. We're saving you time! :D

Would you like to revert to the old system, where each vendor had a different quantity and timer and most were selling 20 of one commodity once a day?

Yes. This torturous bullcrap with NPC merchants adds nothing to the game. Remove things like boards/ingots from the vendors, things that take player skills to gather, and then stock an infinite quantity of everything else for a fixed price.

It was like that at one point in time. Was that one of the changes made between pub 15 and 16?
