Hello friends!
I thought I'd share some personal views of the new Brittanian Ship. As I don't have tons of UO gold, I paid RL cash for mine. Before you do the same, here are some things to consider.
Even though the website touts the ships increased endurance, I still took "moderate" damage during every fight. I think a combination of the slow speed and longer vessel may allow the Orc Pirates get in extra hits per broadside. (Orc's don't seem to have to bother to reload cannon.)
I could discern no appreciable increase in damage caused to the opposing ship. It still takes me two passes to disable an Orc Pirate ship. Same as it takes in my own Orc Ship. In fact, I probably use more ammo as the tendancy is to discharge all weapons during a broadside.
I was very dissapointed in the fact the dev's limited the speed so much. I guess they were trying to balance the power of the ship somehow, but it now takes an excruciating amount of time to return to the Sea Emporium to turn in captured Pirates Captains. This was an issue before due to the distance one has to travel and at slow speed, it pretty much makes Pirate hunting in the Brittanian ship useless.
Maybe this ship would excel at doing Corgul with a guild. Or perhaps Guild PvP sea battles in Fel, but in Tram I think it's best use is going to be as a mining boat. At least that's what mine is probably going to end up doing.
I don't like being negative about stuff, but I thought it was only fair to warn others who might spend RL $$ on this ship to know what it's limitations are.

- The Pilot's Wheel that comes with the Captain's Bundle is house deco only and can not be mounted on the add-on pad on your ship. I really don't see the point of a house deco item that gives sextant co-ordinates... since most folks houses stay pretty much in the same place.
- The ship only moves at slow speed.
- It is even more difficult to drop items in the hold (at least it seems this way to me). You would think that with the additional deck space, the dev's could make the hold larger and with a bigger "drop area."
