Bod Bribery....

Ok, Greatest gold sink EVER!

However.....

two issues...

1) It should cost more. I am a bodder, and I think it should cost more.
2) You should be able to bribe as long as you want, but the cost should go up. Get rid of the damn smithy union! It's time to break that union anyhow.

Also, I think fel should carry a slightly lower bribe rate, but that is not really needed.

It will go up with time and use. This is only the first day its going to end up a lot higher then it is. At least that is what the devs have said.

Yup, another poor choice of a system by the devs.

Happy I powergamed it at server up today and upgraded a bunch of stuff for cheap.

I'll wait a few weeks and sell for big $$ to all the people trying to reforge.

Also glad I bought those 400 dc runics from some guy selling for 7k each on GL a few months back.

I guess its more likely like all other npcs. Those reset after each new patch/publish.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the "heat" to lay off the vendors?

They must drop their prices fairly quickly as I have found a couple still charging 0 after I had used them a couple of hours before.

"With each bribe an NPC accepts, it increases a cost multiplier applied to future bribes. So, after being bribed 100 times, he will charge 100 times as much as the base price. Each NPC tracks its own bribe multiplier, so there is benefit to shopping around. Each NPC is initialized with a random cost multiplier between 0 and 10. (If you catch an NPC with a very low cost multiplier, he could do an upgrade for you for free!).

The cost multiplier decays extremely slowly. If an NPC is not bribed at all in an entire month, its bribe cost multiplier will only decay by about half.

Over time, the NPC bribe prices should rise up to whatever the market will bear.

It is beyond my understanding this type of Design which prizes the early birds and penalizes so severely the late comers. I think it back fires and makes way more players upset than what it makes happy.

I do not think it as good. Not at all.

I think it should be designed so that ALL players could EQUALLY participate to the activity REGARDLESS whether they got into it early on or later on.

Unfortunately, it looks like it was designed just the opposite of what I think it should have been....

Basically, to my view, as the system is working now it prizes the early comers, screws up everyone else who did not jump for it early on and is a dream come true for scripters who will just run their daily script to check what NPCs have the lowest prices to upgrade and take advantage of them. Hey, after all the script does the daily work of checking all NPCs, even if only 1 or 2 have good prices the time wasted was not the player's, but the script.........

I am sorry, but I just cannot agree with how this has been designed.
Very very bad, IMHO.

How would have I done it instead ?

Points.

Allocate a number of points either per character or per account per day or week or month and once those upgrade points had been used by either the character or the account it would have been upgrade over until the time lapses for more points to be available.

This way, there would have been no early or late birds, no scripts running to take advantage of upgrading and no players advantaged and others disadvantaged but ALL players would have had the EXACT SAME upgrade points to use up if they wished so. Much, MUCH fairer, IMHO.

Tried bribery. Like the idea. the actual mechanix used ...... leaves with the result = not useful except to a few.

Won't be using it.

I tried it with a few bods but after using the same tailor 3-4 times it was too expensive where the cost to bribe was more than the cost of the item, so all i can really see this being used for is to upgrade "useless" large bods as it's just far to expensive to do the small ones. (except maybe the small bods for just the valorite hammer, if those retain current value)

The problem I'm feeling is that after making over 200 shields, 200-300 weapons and over 200 pcs of armor on TC, it's still just too damn random for me.

I just can't bring myself to want to use the dang runics for turning out a pile of mostly junk. Sure there's always that one rare roll where you get an uber piece but how often does that happen.

I did make a few things on TC that I'd really love to duplicate but again the high amount of randomness just makes it a crap shoot.

Would be nice if you could pick what stat you wish to bribe up first..
As is now its Ore type then amount then EQ..

What if i need a 15 EQ verite and i have 10 EQ only..i would like to have amount go up not have it goto valorite insted...

For todays work - I upgraded a dozen large tailor bods to barb kit bods for modest prices.

I completed 2 Valorite Hammers and have 40 more bods (small and large) for approx 5 more val hammers. Total bribing for those was less than a couple mil.

I pretty much focused on items already close (20 ex copper and up plate bods) and then upgraded em to 20 val ex.

In 9 years I got zero hammers. In one day I got the bods for 7 for less than a couple mil gold. Can't see how this was a good change.

I was against it and don't like the bod bribe escalation becuase you are right - it penalizes the people who didn't get up at 5am for server up on patch day like me.

Oh well, EA will never learn....

Hi there,

I started to bribe in the evening and I had two full valorite hammer after 30 min work and less than 1m gold spent.Price will go up very fast and the most expensive was the large bod for valorite hammer,200k from verite to valorite.

By the way, there will always be places, several times a day, where BOD bribes will be default cheap....

(I will say no more, to keep from further risking my contacts for cheap bribes).

To be honest so far I really like the changes in the BOD system. I wouldn't mind seeing the price of them effected by perhaps your reputation with the towns from the current event. Maybe even have it so if you turn in bod's to the same blacksmith you get a bit of a discount on the greasing. Just spit-balling here :)

I upgraded the bods and 20x plate valorite lbod for about 500k total. Most of the bods were already at Gold or higher. I then tried to take a 20x ring gold lbod and upgrade it to agapite and the smith I found wanted 220k. I decided this was not acceptable as I really only wanted a +20 scroll for my imbuer. I'll probably do as Basara suggests and attempt to find one of those rogues to figure out what the base price of the upgrade would have been and make the decision.

However, this has me thinking two things:
1. I agree with Popps' post.
2. The bribery escalators may not be scaling with the rewards well enough.

I've gotten 15 Valorite hammers so far. I debating if I want to do more or not. I personally will only use 1 or 2, but I'm trying to see where the market balances at to start selling them.
