if they find it actually out of balance, they will later nurf it or whatever they do. Then all they got a set can put them in storage for the next cleanup (but this may be the last one)

i have about 7 suits all imbued differently.

i do like the power of them.

but it is not balanced.

Yeah, and on top of that, let's not forget the influx of bless deeds. The suits are worth less than the deeds, so I can imagine there's probably a stash of them somewhere.

P.S. The above message implies the fact that the main weakness of the suit was that it wouldn't last that long in the game due to non-pof and low durability.

Actually it is the other way around: it is not that the suit allows a redlined opponent to run, it is because he wears the suit that he has to run: he can't heal so as soon as the "rage receeds" he is dead if he doesn't flee.

The suit is only good for what it is designed for, an assassin: you can take heavy initial damage but you have to kill your opponent during the first minute or you have to run.

Can anybody give me a heads up on how the suit actually works?

I lost it somewhere between the original design on test and the (necessary) nerf before release.

Agreed. I run when I know the red line has to be crossed soon. You can kill the "redlined" you just arent doing enough damage.

If you handed someone their hat and they had to run away, you win. Not like it is a glass sword or something. There is no balance issue if noone has the upperhand for the kill.

As Mr Obvious will agree. Player that depends on it a lot will have a deco set of armor when it is all in the single digits of durability.

That comes to mind what they need to start. Anything with over 300 Imbuing points needs to have the Brittle added to it. Maybe Doom will see use again when all those headdresses and collars start breaking. Be a good way to get rid of all those val hammer made suits. You know the suits that took 20+ hammers to build that are now all blessed. Add durability to those items like the Magi jewels that have none to start.

Don't like the above then get on the bandwagon for revamp of the BOD rewards.

i'd like to know this as well. And so for the first 1min of combat I'm probably Not going to die? So as long as I can kill say, a para-lich lord, in less than 1min, I'm good to go?

I'm not sure how someone would test an item's lifespan in this climate...maybe get whacked by a few cows for an hour then multiply the findings. But seriously, items last forever as it is right now.

Stygian Abyss came out on September 8, 2009. I think within a week or two people had 120 imbuing? My ring on my main mage has xxx/253 durability after over two years. Problem, of course, is I'm going to bet jewels don't get hit as often as other armor pieces. Hm. Still, works for me.

Anyone have a link to hit by area findings (suit armor regions)? Be nice to get some metrics. Would have to figure out split, then find a control. Then a repair fail thesis, and a curve to account for gradual max dur decline.

Berserker suits were made to make stealthers nearly invincible.

Now they can go all out, dump all of their mana, and then smokebomb. Before, you could kill them before they ran away. In one of these berzerk suits it is nearly impossible to do enough damage by yourself to kill one before they off screen and smoke bomb.

For 1v1 and stealthers the suit gives then a pretty big advantage, but in field fights, I've seen more people get killed in situations where normally they would survive. Once people realize someone has a suit on and is unable to heal they become become the main target.

I have a hunch Logrus probably designed the new cleanup suits. They just seem like something he would have come up with. However, since no one seems to have found a mask or pumpkin with his name on it yet, it seems as if he might be gone. That leaves only Phoenix and Shade as designers. (And possibly only Supreem and MrsTroublemaker as engineers. Who knows why Cal's name, "Uriah," showed up, though.) Hopefully they're monitoring feedback about the suits and will do something if changes seem warranted.

Thing that makes me crack up on this topic are people mentioned others *not doing enough damage*. Three times yesterday I got one of these suit wearers to 25%, three times I synced a spell dump with a fellow player, and three times the person ran away. (by dump I mean two people casting explosion flamestrike against a cursed victim for no apparent damage).

It was explained to me that the suit had already been adjusted, most will agree that it is not remotely enough.

I concur, they are OP.

Oddly enough I have yet to use mine, even on my stealther... Spent too much time building his suit dangit! Just to replace it with a terrible looking bear head ffs!

No thank you, I will continue to use skill...

You're not unable to heal while wearing a bestial suit. Although the healing is significantly reduced, when a large percentage of the damage you take is also reduced, that small amount of healing is still significant. If it gives you an advantage in surviving 1v1 it makes no sense that it wouldn't give you the same advantage against larger numbers. Making someone in a bestial suit the main target would just be silly.

i've only faught people in the arena with these suits, and you just simply have to keep damaging them. their healing effectiveness is extremely reduced. so you will need to switch to heavier hits, spamming lightning simply just wont do it.

the design is intended for someone to keep fighting through the damage. they work best on players who can not be interrupted (dexxers).

i haven't encountered a throwing wolf yet, but i'm imaginging that these will be very good for this suit due to their HP regen.

Well, I just spent the better half of the day imbuing a Bestial suit and it is limited in terms of the amount of stats and mods you can squeeze in.

450 max imbuing weight per piece and the fact I can't use a gladiators collar or decent headpiece/glasses.

But I did fit in all 70's with 16 HPR and 25 Hit point increase, and a smattering of other mods.

I just did a quick run into destard and survived longer fighting a pack of greater dragons that would have killed me instantly before. (I still died several times..) Definitely did last 2-3x longer, but this is PvM.

I could heal while redlined with chiv and spellweaving, but the heals where way less at 5-8 points of damage healed (so roughly 25%). And as I brought my hit points back up to over 30 out of /137 my rage started to recede.

But I think the balancing act here is that pivotal point where your rage is receding and your heals start increasing but your not over 50% health yet.. that is probably why everyone runs to try and get back to full health.

Now I haven't yet tried using pots, or getting a lvl 6 focus with my spellweaving to see what difference that makes.

I will try and give it a go in pvp tonight however (instead of my normal suit) and see how it performs. I'll report back tomorrow hopefully.

* I'd be interested to see how a necro/mage version of this suit performs in a grinder, if someone has tried it.

the usefulness of the bestial suit is waayyy overpowered. I've seen it on mages and dexers alike (i've only used it on dexer variations). It needs scaled back or nerfed. I've wanted to start this thread but i just didn't feel like caring that much.

All I have to say is that for all of you crying about how powerful the Beastial Suit is... unless you can tell me EXACTLY now it functions then you really cannot say...

I've done a fair amount of testing which I may post later, but I'm going to make a guess & say that....

TALON STRIKE might be the way to go... If TALON STRIKE still deals like 20-30 hit points of dmg AS NEGATIVE HP REGEN then I'm reasonably certain the beast suit cannot block that. Simply half life them / Talon Strike them / deal a few more pts of dmg the hard way....

Anyway..... Just 1 of the methods that occurred to me in a few minutes of thought. Also... the Berserk effect only begins at 50% life.... so if your a mage at least... Work them to near but above 50% then dump to kill. The effect takes a sec to kick in from what I observed...

I know exactly how it works and things to do to try to work around it (i'd like to test talon strike tho)

That being said... ****ing seriously? your solution is this one special on what.. one weapon in the game? please... the suit absorbs wayy to much damage at lower levels. it kicks off at 50% life, so typically it will kick off for most people if they are smart at 70-75 hit points. Thats alot of damage to quick dump for someone (timed perfectly i might add). Then mix in the fact that a dexer won't be able to do anything - its pointless.

The thing about the suit is, ur right, there is a slight work around against an opponent that doesn't know how to use it or isn't using it right. Mix it into any smoke bombing template or any type of running straight offense char (think Deathstrike/nerve strike/dp) then it is ridiculous.

I was dueling someone in the arena using it on a mage, and i had them redlined for almost the entire time and couldn't get them down. I'd flamestrike them several times, and even when i did get tons of big damage off, they were able to mix in a couple g-heals for like what.. 7 dmg? and it was enough to counter the flamestrikes. i ran out of mana and ended up dieing solely because i could not drop the guy and mana dumped myself enough too many times to keep going. hell in a duel, sure, its a nice theory to get them to half life then go big.. but its not that easy in practice.

The suit quite frankly is bad for pvp and ruins it just a little bit more. i've tested the hell out of it because i love using overpowered stuff, but this one is just stupid.

@ Cetric.... Well to be honest my post was mostly designed to get more information about how the suit functions. I've tested some stuff, but I haven't covered all of it. I just think it's funny that people who don't have a clue how the Beast suit works will chime in about it's power etc....

Anyway... Quick list of what I tested...

-Rage effect kicks in WHEN you TAKE DMG & are less than 50% life.
-Their are 5 Distinct levels of RAGE. Rage lvl 1 = 50% block / Rage lvl 5=85%
(I didn't take alot of #'s for an avg so above could be off some)
-Rage appears to block the same % of incoming DMG as it does for Healing
-Methods of Healing I tested that are blocked
Healing Bandages
Curse Weapon
HP Regen
Mini Heal
G heal
G heal Wand
Greater Heal pot
Vamp Form
Confidence
Chiv Heal
Spirit Speak
(Still have to test Cleansing winds as primary & secondary target & I'm sure there's other ways I've missed as well)

-Rage effect ends 10 seconds after the last time your damaged OR when you reach Hit points > 50%

Things I'm not sure about is how quickly Rage levels degrade & What possible dmg sources might get around RAGE..

Deathstrike?
Poison Dmg from being poisoned..
Bleed Ticks?

Also... how does the dmg reduction MATH get rounded etc. It might be more effective to have 5 sources of dmg for 1 pt. (that don't get rounded down) than 1 source of dmg for 5 pts that consequently gets cut by 50-85% etc..

Pixie death anyone? lots of little sources of dmg.... or possible Yumi Dbl strike + dual hit effect or Double Axe hits etc.. Anyway just more ideas.

How the suit functions: you take crap tons of damage and LoL at the poor guy trying to kill you with 7 damage flamestrikes. Yumi double strike and double axe hits? Obviously you don't even PvP so why are you posting in this thread?

What is your point? I mean aside from saying that you play another OP temp in game...

Point of this thread is that suit is still OP even after being dialed down. I don't care that healing is reduced while wearing the suit...the suit on its own nerfs entire templates...no skill required.

I have used it mainly on one char, a ninja deathstriking nerve striking dp dexer. and i sit back and just laugh at people trying to kill him. I dont even need a healing method, just run and hide when at 2hp, wait 10s, cast conf/heal pot, and go for it again.

i can't even play the stupid char now because its tooo simple. Its like a god mode where there is one way to kill you, but it involves you doing something stupid to allow it to happen.
