First time poster, long time occasional lurker.
Perhaps a good way of demonstrating the value of these items is by comparing them to those that can be acquired via heritage tokens.
On one hand, you have the token items. Most accounts that were active during the recent 10th anniversary event got tons of tokens, which gave them access to all sorts of unique decorative items - and a few that were even slightly useful (such as the Quiver of Infinity with it's 5%DCI).
Note the "unique" part there. All sorts of stuff you couldn't get elsewhere. Sure, the tokens/items weren't actually introduced for that particular event, but those were pretty cool items, limited in supply but everyone got at least a few.
Now we have the turn in items. There are maybe two or three that are of use, one that actually looks unique, and they're only available to people that happened to grab certain items over a long, long period of time.
To me, the "freebie" heritage items are worth more then most of the "worked for" turn in items. That's just wrong.
And we don't even know the exchange rate yet. The only items I have that qualify are cursed artis, and unless I'm getting some serious "coupon points" for each of those I currently see no reason beyond a single pair of those earrings to turn them in.
A good collection of rewards doesn't have to include useful ("game breaking") items. Unique deco would go a long way towards making the whole collection process worthwhile without accidentally ripping a big hole in PvP balance.
And no, a sash doesn't count as unique deco. It's a sash. Doesn't matter what text string you slap on it, it's a sash. You can go down to any NPC Tailor and buy tons of the things.
A poster here asked whether the devs were afraid of introducing new items, or if they truly didn't know what counts as "good". Quite an interesting comment considering how the cloak of corruption
ORIGINALLY functioned. I'm wondering if they changed it because it was massively overpowered, or if they plan on reactivating it's original function later... That should answer that question.
