other thread was locked for a valid reason. but are there any more ban stories out there that can be talked about without crossing the line ? thanks

No........ but I did just save a bundle on my car insurance.
I'd be careful about making categorical statements like that one...if you are able to answer a GM then they cant prove anything.
this is evidence of mass bans how?I suspect that some shards are going to be hit harder than others. For example, I live on the east coarst and played Atlantic for years, pinging about 40-50. The vast majority of the time I pvped against players there, I was seriously outruned.
Later I started to play west coast shards. I would ping 100-120 on, lets say Sonoma, and I could usually keep up with everyone.
Go figure!
It's not. It's talking about how, presumably, some shards will be hit harder than others.this is evidence of mass bans how?
Just stating that some shards won't have as much "evidence" as others. :gun:this is evidence of mass bans how?
Maybe EA should put in more NPCs so you won't feel so alone?I didn't saw anymore a miner scripter and a lumberjacker.
I'm a bit sad for those 2 because everytime I goes to the bank I saw them recalling... everydays... at any hours... now is so empty this bank

You came into this UHall thread expecting evidence? Oh you poor misguided lamb..rolleyes:There is not a single shred of evidence of anything in this entire thread.
So, I guess its some truth in the bans - but my guess is that its just a 24hrs ban. Cuz EA is too much in love with the montly payments.....What’s going on with 3rd party program detection?
This week the first series of actions took place on 3rd party program use offenders. I will not share numbers or specifics on account names, locations of offenders, or how often we will take action.
Criteria for taking action are based on frequency of the offense. For example, account X was found using program Y, Z number of times. This implies that the account/player willfully violated the terms of the game. High frequency violators will be removed from the game. Low frequency violators will be warned and in time suspended if the offense continues.
Flames, vegetable throwing, and other creative methods of termination and suspension are not currently planned.
UO Assist and UOAM are sanctioned applications.
First offence bans for anything that isn't extremely serious in UO have tended to be 48 hour bans. So, I guess its some truth in the bans - but my guess is that its just a 24hrs ban.
Aren't you a selfproclaimed troublemaker? So why should we believe you?I'll leave it at hearsay, you choose to believe what you want:
I know at least a half dozen different players with several accounts that had repercussions for using third party programs that are not sanctioned by EA.
I am only repeating what I know and have heard from people.
Because in this instance, he's actually telling the truth. And the people who were banned in the "first wave" were really perma-banned. I guess none of you saw the posts in the other thread from the guy who WAS banned.Aren't you a selfproclaimed troublemaker? So why should we believe you?
Reading other forums, it says they got 72hrs bans - not one post anywhere they got a perma ban.Because in this instance, he's actually telling the truth. And the people who were banned in the "first wave" were really perma-banned. I guess none of you saw the posts in the other thread from the guy who WAS banned.
40-50 is very slow if you're an east coast player. I've played from several locations to ATL and never pinged higher than 23.I suspect that some shards are going to be hit harder than others. For example, I live on the east coarst and played Atlantic for years, pinging about 40-50. The vast majority of the time I pvped against players there, I was seriously outruned.

The program you are talking about allows you to memory edit any program. It doesn't need to even be a game, it can be anything. It also has other capabilities and has indeed been used in the past for speed hacking. I don't know this from experience, I know this based on conversations between people using the program in vent a few years back, and reading the FAQ for the program. Using this particular program with the WoW client will get you instantly banned, and the same should be true for UO as well. The other thread on the bans mentioned a very specific third party program which is not the macroing/scripting one.
The program mentioned is made for browser-based games but some claim it also works with UO, even though it really shouldn't. The program allows you to change numeric values; so for example if you were playing some fantasy-based flash game you could give your character 1 million gold pieces instead of 5,000; or 5,000 hit points intsead of 500.
Bizarrely, videos on YouTube claim to show this program (I don't use it and am not going to, and thus can't verify the videos' accuracy) being used for movement in UO, somehow. There's a video that shows the guy skipping ahead, like he was jumping or teleporting. How on earth that works I can't guess.
But per the other thread? It's also for using this program which, if it really does work for UO, is potentiallycatastrophic on all aspects of the game.
Well combating cheating in online games requires a strategy that involves more than one tactic. Perhaps this is part of an overall strategy that includes both the third party cheat detection, and a change to the way GM's perform their duties. Maybe they've also finally managed to hire and properly train more GM's.that sounds like good old imperical detective work on the part of GMs.
someone putting in a page about something and a GM coming to have a look.
none of it sounds like it has anything to do with cal and his wonderful machine.
There is one of two things happening.Well combating cheating in online games requires a strategy that involves more than one tactic. Perhaps this is part of an overall strategy that includes both the third party cheat detection, and a change to the way GM's perform their duties. Maybe they've also finally managed to hire and properly train more GM's.
Well, I'm inclined to believe that we are seeing a fine example of mass hysteria, and there are a lot of rumours flying, many of which are not true. But at the same time I do think something has been going on the past two or three days now. What exactly that is we'll probably only know if Cal tells us, and even then I am sure we won't know any of the details. There is one of two things happening.
Cal, the dev team, and GMs are orchestrating a sting operation crushing dupers, scripters, and speedhackers. They have mountains of data and are being very careful how they handle it.
Or perhaps all of these stories are rumors created by trollish cheaters for amusement, and the only people that have been banned were caught afk macroing, which is nothing new because if a GM sees you macroing unattended you usually get a 24-72 hour.
I'm inclined to think it is the latter of the two situations.
