C'mon, crystalline blackrock is expensive and hard enough to get. Does it really need to take (500) cloth to make one piece of abyssal cloth?

I'm not quite sure what the issue is. I'm not having that much difficulty in picking up crystalline blackrock. Of course, I'm not actively seeking it when I get it, but it can be picked up off ore ellies in Yamatsu Mines and Shame, dug up ellies, mining in Ter Mur and in the Abyss. Multiple means of acquisition and an easy purchase of 500 cloth, makes the abyssal cloth a fairly easy construction.
Mining all day got me a total of 15 pcs of crystalline blackrock. That's enough to add mage armor to only one item. A whole days worth of mining. I'd say that's not exactly easy.
But really, doesn't 500 cloth seem a bit excessive to make only one abyssal cloth?

For me, apparently not. I see it as fairly equitable. Not too hard, not too easy.
