The latest patch is unusually very large for UO.
Depending on the connection it can be quite a lengthy download.

Question, are there 2 separate patches necessary, one for the 2D client and another for the EC client doubling the extraordinarily lengthy download, or the same one patch will be good for both clients ?

Most likely two since they are different clients. But you could very easily find out your answer by simply opening both clients and seeing if it starts downloading/patching.

Since they are totally seperate clients with total seperate download methods, yes you need to patch both.

After doing both 2d was about 350mb and EC 110mb, So completely different.

Well, I thought that perhaps, once patching the 2D client, it might have been an issue of different directories on the computer.

That is, if the EC client saw the patch under the 2D directory then it would have taken the needed patch files from there, otherwise, without seeing that directory, it would have started the download anew.

Since I had no clue I thought it would have been better asking.

Instead of actually just testing it yourself.

And how could have I tested it on my own without knowing how the patching of the 2 clients had been designed, if I may ask ?

I mean, just starting the EC client would have showed me nothing unless I knew before hand that, in order to avoid the patching of the EC client, I had to put the EC client to a link with the 2D client folder and sub-folders where I just downloaded the largest patch.

But without knowing what files from 2D would EC need or how to link all of the pertaining folders and sub folders how could I have possibly avoided a second download for the EC client ?

I imagined that just starting the EC client would have triggered a second download, I just thought that perhaps, having already done the 2D larger download, there was a way to give to the EC client whatever files it needed from the already done download rather than having to do a second one........

But I had no clue how the patching had been planned and designed to happen and that is why I asked, perhaps someone better informed than me might have known and hinted to a way to avoid double download.

Nothing at all about being lazy, only time concerned to try avoid a second lengthy download, if possible.

2D and EC is like apple and peach. Two totally different clients that need different patches done separately.
Both are fruit grown in Britannian soil :)

By opening them both up. Besides that, having 2 different downloads for both of the different clients has been around for years. You should have already known the answer to your question, which I believe you probably already did, but just used this as an excuse to post yet another of your idiotic complaint threads. Sigmund Freud would have loved you.

Connor, I think you're getting a little out of control... if popps annoys you that much, there is an ignore feature...
