I love reading UO stories because this game just has so much potential for epic and funny things to happen. UO is still in my top 10 all time favorite games, even if I don't play it as much as I used to. But please, share some stories and experiences from the last 15 years that can help cheer us all up about UO!

I remember going to Hyloth with my first guild. No one had a rune on them so we set sail using our cloth maps that came with the game. Along the way we ran into a group of pirates out at sea. They started yelling a bunch of nonsensical gibberish at us and shot some arrows but eventually gave up pursuing us after awhile. Once we arrived at shore (after about a half hour of getting lost) one of my guildmates remembered they had had a rune all along. No matter though, we had reached our destination. We had very high hopes of skill gains and grand loot going in. I think between 10 of us we only managed to stay alive for all of 5 minutes. Some people were a little upset about the whole thing but I think overall we all felt it was an adventure worth taking, even if the only lesson was not to go back there for a long time.

15 years is a long time for an MMORPG. I'm glad the game is still around and that anyone new still has so much to experience and explore. Even if my own sense of adventure has diminished I would recommend the game to anyone who likes RPGs and has never tried it.

Does anyone else have some fun stories to share? I know I'd enjoy reading them.

The first time I died back in 2000, I was so enraged I deleted the char and started a fresh new one, free of "death counts". I'm glad I didn't stick to that MO though :)

Oh, but I just remembered I did keep a list with each death : char, location, cause (lag, lost conn, PK, stupidity), and if I lost stuff or pet. I may still have that list lol. I think I did it to make a top of worst deaths, and if I remember corectly, the worst one was when I was out to sea throwing nets to kill krakens for mibs. I was with a friend and we both died very soon. I sailed the boat as ghost to shore. Somehow we got off boat and got rezzed. Then we realized boat was locked and we couldn't get to our decaying bodies. And of course, the boat key was on my body.... Anyway, we ended up looking like this for 30 mins until our bodies flushed to sea....

My favorite single event(s) in UO was the Trinsic invasion(s). I don't know why - lot of people coming together and a lot of GMs and developers "assisting" the invasion against the players. It was not just non-stop fighting.

Every invasion or official scenario has different memories to me, whether it's dying because I walked nearby to Trinsic during the Trinsic invasion, leading Crusades against Virtuebane, a long night fighting the Juka in Yew, frustration with orc scouts, or not even knowing that I'm participating in a scenario at all, merely focusing on what's right in front of me.

I have had the privilege of role-playing various romances as well, with wonderful RP partners. All have their memories, whether it's a stolen moment inside Medusa's Lair, a glance no one but us knows the meaning of, or a pair of seemingly-unrelated incidents involving the potential for duty to interfere with love (once where it interfered successfully, once where it didn't).

My first Harrower spawn, which was also the first one on the shard I was on then. (LS.) My first Dread Horn.

There's a lot, really.
