Looks to me like they used the cake as a test to give art partial hueing, that didn't have it before. Sign of good things to come perhaps?

I liked the other look far better gave the cakes a tower affect, this looks like flat pan cakes.

I like the new version better; its just that there's not enough differentiation between the layers of the cake....
Personally, i'd suggest editing it more like this, though I have no idea how it would look with the palettes applied:
Think that's still not quite as tall as the original, but it adds more defined lines between the layers and brings back the feeling that they're actually layers and not just extensions.

They look so bad because I think perspective is all wrong on them. It is like you are looking down directly from the top. The old design looked much better.
The perspective is wrong on both this and the original... thie one is oriented too far down, the previous too far up. The newer one is closest to what it should be though.
Trying my best to work out fixing that perspective.. I view this kinda thing as needed practice for myself.
Left two are my latest edit, middle is what it is right now, right is what it was before. Figured i'd try to demonstrate what I meant by putting it on a table and comparing it to the plain cake we've already had.
Man.. I wish I could actually do the final touchups officially for the stuff in the game.. this kinda thing is so much fun to me.

Fix bugs not stupid cakes! 
I for one am thankful that they fixed the perspective on the cake. As Crysta displayed above, the original version of the cakes were improper with regard as to how they fit the game world. They may not look as tall now, but at least they fit the proper viewing mode.

I liked the original one better. not proper size or whatever u call it, the other is just squished. Why does it have to be the same size as the round ones? are all cakes irl the same size? NO but this isnt irl blah blah... looks stupid.. might have to junk mine

Well thank GOD they fixed the cakes, I'd HATE to see the art team do such things NEVER asked for... such as redo the paperdolls in EC! rolleyes:

Wonder how much begging I'd have to do to get them to "fix" the art for those ugly as sin candles they gave out that one year for Xmas that are about 10X too big??? They could stand to be shrunk and have that ugly bow shrunk.
