How about a break from the usual PC's non-PC UO bashing?
How about the things you really love about Ultima Online?
For me:
How about the things you really love about Ultima Online?
For me:
- The incredible attention to detail. I've always loved this in the Ultima Series, and Ultima Online keeps the immersive, down-to-the-smallest-item-is-interactive feel.
- The people. Yes, there are the occasional jerks. But there are also the many, many imaginative, enthusiastic and genial players that make your day.
- Owning my own house in-game. Nuff said.
- Peerless Spawns and Champion Spawns. They are brilliant ways of making players team up.
- The Doom Gauntlet. As much as I complain how I never get drops, I don't say enough how fun it always is, even the 1000th time in. And in an odd way, the lack of reward (except once in a great, great while) adds pizazz and excitement.
- The seasonal promotions. Halloween, Christmas and so forth. Lately they have been a bit uninspired, IMHO, but they still are special times of the year.
- Let's face it, the pixelcrack. And not because I sell it (I've only received a pittance from all my rares sales combined), but because its fun to reminisce over all my goodies. Remember the good times, the friends on my side, the foes standing against me, and so forth.
- Maginica (Positive) on the Music Box. I could listen to it for hours.... so understated, yet majestic and epic.
- The Obsidian Statue Quest. Its old, sure, but still fun and endlessly repeatable.
- The first Trinsic Invasion. No invasion since has been so vivid in my mind. Mostly because, on Napa, on a day when we were fixing to lose the West Entrance, some of the most hated PK guilds abruptly appeared en-masse with their tamers and hit the invading army from the back, saving the day. It was such a refreshing sign -- even the PK players were with us in the defense.
- Treasures of Tokuno. It's always a blast. Even the upteenth time around...
