Well they turn the event off Monday. What did you think of the Halloween activities?
For my part:
Sicarii -- The story was pretty darn good. A very "look-into-the-abyss" kinda feel. It was also nice to involve Khaldun, a dungeon that gets far less attention than it deserves. Plus the new monsters (with their fresh challenges, like the fiends' area of attack) were nice.
The only thing I didn't like about Sicarii was the way the gossamers were handled in the beginning. It really encouraged selfish jerks and profiteers. When they did address it by making tetherans drop the gossamers, Sicarii suddenly became a ghost town.
What I must echo, which was posted here a few times, is the endgame for the Sicarii thread really was kind of dumb. The devs should know the playerbase better than to know we are going to drop an event momento like the poison sac for a mere "atta boy" line of text. As a poll here recently illustrated, many people didn't bother when they saw that not only would they get nothing for dropping the poison (and thus destroying their rare) but the "reward" would be nothing more than stopping the event early.
Trick or Treating -- Very little work went into it, as always. We color swap a few items, give them kooky names and call it a day.... it would be refreshing to have new tricks, and new rares, instead of the same ol' crap year after year. The GM Begging (spiderweb) thing was a nice touch, however. And I am glad to see the devs didn't relent and let non-GM Beggars get it (and no I dont have a GM Beggar). Now maybe folks will develop the worthless NPC skills just in case.
Pumpkin Farming -- I didn't see anyone else farming pumpkins at all, the few times I did it. And then when I zipped back to my tower to drop off the black pumpkins, an overflowing chest of them reminded me why. Would it be so hard to do something new here? How about randomly spawning a Pumpkin Golem when you pick a pumpkin up? Or have a gold one (rarer than the black ones) that you can turn in at the bank for 10k?
All in all, I'd give the whole thing a weak B, borderline B-. The story was neat, and relatively well thought out until the end. But the lack of a payoff and the neglect to the other tired halloween sundries do take several points off.
