Faction bug that needs to be fixed...

just realized i said but not BUG, but i meant bug!!! so my council of mage faction was fighting minax inside magincia, they got passed our guards and into our base so we were pushing to squeeze them into our base. We had traps set up and all so they couldnt stealth away with the sigils, low and behold! someone in the minax faction sails up to the council of mages bridge on a boat and all of the minax get on the boat and escape... i really hope this is considered a bug and gets fixed for no easy escaping... we had such a good defense and didnt even think what happened was possible

Well, I figured you guys would just chalk it up to ingenuity. We were heavily outnumbered at that point, with all your blues helping, having your "sheriff" with 25+ guards in tow (Respawning them as they died), the 3 TB that fight with you, and your 11-12 CoM to our 7 Minax at the start. Let's not forget the hassle of the corrupted souls. Not really sure how you let us in you base, but with your non faction blues, 25+ guards, and all of you (11-12) waiting on the end of the bridge (I wouldn't call attempting to drag your guards in and then running back out pushing.) we were pretty much stuck in your base. Our guild came up with a great plan, put it into effect and it worked awesome.

Meh, I think what needs to be looked into more is the fact that your guys, are carrying GM trapped boxes. They attempt to gank and when they fail, get attacked, half of them don't even attempt to heal anymore they just instantly blow themselves up. Which in turn does NOT put them into stat. So us killing your entire guild through the guards and everything, doesn't matter. The fact that they blow themselves up to die, negates the entire point of stat. Or the hiding in the house with sigils for 20 minutes until they bounce back, to keep resetting them.

You could have tried to intercept us on our way back to our base, or tried to take them back at our base. Instead you all decided to log off when it wasn't a fight based around your advantages. I give credit to a few of you who want to fight, problem is you have the people who would rather hide in a house until they can gank 6v1. (Then blow themselves up when they are about to die.....6v1.)

I fail to see how this can be regarded as a bug of any kind, seems like a cunning escape thanks to a little ingenuity, next time bring a boat so you can give chase or keep them away to start with, adds a little more spice to the otherwise predictale faction guard/trap gank tactics

Face facts, demon, we outsmarted you. Suck it up, learn from it and move on. You thought you had everything planned out, but alas you didn't. How is us using boats a BUG? We utilized a legal tactic and it paid off. Good generals learn from their mistakes as well as from their opponents successes.

Besides, I just think you're angry cause we managed to beat you while we were heavily outnumbered and half of us were in stat loss. Keep crying about how we don't fight fair...

absoloutely, one hundred percent, not a bug. Requires absoloutely NO fix. Choose a faction with a better base. I mean, you've got the advantage of tons of corrupted souls bothering anyone trying to enter at the moment, and you're still complaining cause these guys had a brilliant idea?

That's not a bug, but I would classify using GM trapped boxes to escape stat as being an exploit.

Actually.. I don't think you're supposed to be able to enter or leave a faction stronghold by a boat. You were on the COM bridge and placed a boat in the river, got on and sailed out?

No, when it was brought up, one of our guildmates recalled to a close location outside of the stronghold. He then placed the boat and sailed on over to us. You can't place from the bridge, at least not anyplace that I know of (I tried.).

I think it sounds like they were pretty brilliant to me. :lol:

I also think it's funny that CoM is :sad3: about this, especially when they do have the advantage of the corrupted souls right now. Apparently the CoM members need to research their own stronghold a little better. There are certain ways to get into most of the bases that are what one would call "out of the ordinary," and some of us that have been around a long time know these ways.

Cudos to the Minax Faction.

That, my diminutive friend, is just a fine example of being pwnd by superior thinking and tactics. All done without the use any of the aforementioned underhanded exploits/tactics in use by "certain" other faction people. I applaud the ingenuity demonstrated by people under fire. This is a classic example of just that.

You and your group got schooled..there is nothing more to say. Eat your crow and try to do better next time.

Wow... this just made me laugh my ass off.... You guys got slammed when you outnumbered our guild, got out smarted, and immediatly resorted to UHall claiming an exploit. As pointed out earlier, the real exploit/act of cowardness is your entire guild carrying GM trapped boxes to kill yourself to evade stat loss.

Also what makes me laugh is your Guildmaster dodging even number fights at all costs, I've offered them 300 mill if they could construct a team to beat us even numbers, 3vs3, 5vs5 ect... everytime there is ALWAYS an excuse.


Before logging on UHall crying again for the use of in-game mechanics, take a look at your own guild and the things you do.

It is illegal. Had a HUGE ordeal over it on Sonoma some time ago. Held sigils with an hour left to go and a GM deleted boats and all that good stuff.

its something that needs to be fixed, u of all people should know that goldberg... this isnt x forums so stop trash talking rot, this just means that 3/4 factions have a gap in em, this with com, shadowlord base where u efield urself and boost up a floor and that hole in minax base to efield urself, only tb base has no loops around it

Seriously, enough complaining about getting your butt kicked already. I understand you need someplace to blow off getting your butt kicked while you wait through your 20 minutes of stat...how about R&F next time hmm?

i didnt get my butt kicked... please partake in the fight before u make a reply, i went from 3 to 17 kill points on my guy and didn't die once, we won in a sense that we killed everyone in our base, we lost in a sense that they got the 3 sigils out

lol, as others have said, chase after them!!!! Boat wars are fuun!

Seriously though, probably should be fixed hehe.

If anyone played a mage...wall of stone in front of the direction the boat is sailing, then once stopped energy fields. THEN coat that boat in poison fields and volley arrows on them!

You seriously need a semantic readjustment. There are MANY bugs in factions that needs immediate fixing (unstealable sigils, cities changing ownership for no reason, rank assignment based on RNG, thieves not receiving killpoints for stealing the sigils, etc...) and that, lo and behold, ARE bugs. What the other guys did was to use legitimate game mechanics (boats) to get out of your HQ. And if you had known better your HQ you might have easily prevented it by dropping a ship cordon around the bridge.

Now, I do agree that probably the ability to leave by boat is an oversight from the devs, since it sounds pretty unbalancing that only CoM hq should have a different way to leave it than through the choke point. Still, this is a DESIGN issue, not a bug. So if you want to be consistent you have to ask for a change in game mechanics because they may affect the intended design of the stronghold (and I use "may" because we DO NOT know what is the "intended" design until the devs come and tell us).

This is hardly a PRIORITY fix, though. There are countermeasures, and it is nothing showstopping. Differently from the many bugs detailed up there. Or the trap box issue, which is MUCH worse.

Ok, for the record, not everyone died. I think maybe 3 of us died, to people, same people died to the faction guards. We managed to get into your base, field YOU out (Outnumbered mind you) and sail the boat in a good 5-10 minutes after we tried to stealth them out. The boat driver sailed DIRECTLY into the middle of the water next to the bridge. Had you been PUSHING, instead of just trying to lead your faction guards into the base (Just to have them bounce back out.) you would have seen what was going on. Especially since it took us like 8-9 minutes to find a place to board the damn thing.

Oh, and one thing that does need some attention is the GM tinker box suicide your people have been pulling off to stay out of stat. It's the, "Why heal when I can just blow myself up!" attitude that's bringing your side down anyhow. I personally laugh my ass off everytime they do it. Why worry about 20 minutes of stat, when you can watch someone blow themselves up again in the time of a restock?

Only real trouble comes from times like this defense, when your entire guild died for the most part. Except when they are at 10 HP, BOOM, no stat. Oh well, can't really expect much else from most of them anyway.

I fail to see the difference between sailing a boat into the faction base and placing a boat.

You are NOT supposed to be able to use boats to enter/leave the faction base. Now - if you ran out of the faction base to the shore and then got on a boat it would be fine.

But leaving the faction base in a boat is a bug (otherwise it wouldn't take you 9 minutes to find a place to board from, now would it?)

These are things that really need to be fixed. The worst part is after you've gone to all the trouble of stealing and defending the sigs, they bounce back to the town stone, become "neutral" and are unstealable for almost 4 hours. That's been happening more times than I can count.. and thieves not getting points after corrupting sigs (stolen from the town mind you, not a base) is just annoying. Both of these, as well as the towns changing ownership mysteriously, happened last night.

Oh yes that sounds like it was a cool save. it is the kind of thinking that would earn medals in the real world.

No.. as I've said multiple times it's illegal to board a boat from the faction strong hold.

Placing the boat preventing that from happening would only be illegal if the boat was vacant (in which case it would just be deleted).

I remember a couple years ago on LS several of us were camping an IDOC... This IDOC was in FEL and turned into a huge guild v guild fight. After the house fell one of the guys in the other guild dropped a boat next to where we were fighting and started lumping loot over to it and thought they could sail out alot of the loot. Well long story short... One of our guys managed to get on their boat but died.. They took him "hostage" and took off with his ghost! This turned into a boat v boat fight that ran well over an hour and across half the map into T2A via the serps pillars... Was one of the best IDOCs we had for a long time! No one got any good loot but the convo in ts and via icq was off the charts!

That may or may not be the case, but say in this instance the boat was spotted leaving and the defending faction paged. What are the odds of a GM turning up in time to do anything about it?

If the rule can't be enforced then it doesn't matter if it exists or not. If the devs truly wish to stop water access to the base, all they need to do is stick a rope line over the water or something.

(Incedently, is there really a rule that says "thou shalt not sail a boat through faction territory", or did some random GM just decide that this should be the case?)

And Demonous.....quit crying to everyone, including the GM's. You guys may not have been outgunned, but you were most definitely outsmarted, LMAO!

The bug in the OP that needs to be fixed is using the boat's plank to TELEPORT onto the boat. You're not supposed to be able to teleport with a sigil. You're also not supposed to be able to teleport at all inside the stronghold area, which starts at the entrance of the bridge next to the signup stone. They exploited the boat's plank to teleport out of the stronghold. Even some people in their own guild said it was bs and an exploit.


and p.s. if you have to count the faction guards you also have to count pets -> and THEN it was even numbers. and way more than 3 of your guys went into stat. more like 3 of them didN'T go into stat, if even that... and guards schmardz, you guys put the minax guards up in front of our base too.
what's good for the goose is also good for the lady goose (you guys).

To "teleport" we would have to use the spell. Which didn't happen. We had one kid with a dragon, he switched chars nearly right off the bat. He is also Brazilian and with his speed was screwed in Mag. Which is why he was basically instant dead to your faction guards.

then how did you cross the distance between the boat and the bridge... you certainly can't walk onto it.... oh that's right, you double clicked the plank from inside the stronghold zone, to be teleported to outside the stronghold while carrying sigil!
fyi the teleport restriction applies to other forms of teleporting, not just the spell 'teleport'
