I say nice things about ( in the News ) whomevers house I feature. I think everyone has different taste and are at different stages/levels in decor and design and I prefer to be encouraging and uplifting rather than critical ( that appears to be your job ).I don't see the thought put into the decoration in this plot. The design is alright, everything just looks so thrown together. Those chests right at the entrance? YUCK. What an eyesore. Bravo for going for a more classic look and brownie points for it having an actual roof instead of a "rooftop garden" aka "I can't invest time in learning how to build rooves so I just throw colored flowers (i picked up off the ground @ WBB) up there and call it my rooftop garden".
Nice to finally see a housing article. On the other hand, it would have been nice for the Great Lakes native, first prize winner's home highlighted from UOLedger's contest instead.
Congrats Malag
I liked it myself but if you have seen any of my homes you will understand I know close to nothing about such things .I don't see the thought put into the decoration in this plot. Seems I've hit a sore spot.
Everybody needs some critisism, especially if somebody finishes their house and goes and brags about it, and people want to see. And decorator/designer is like it's amazing, and then their friends are like eek.. It's like getting somebody's hopes up before Christmas saying you got them something they've wanted for a long time, and it wasn't what they thought it'd be.
Everybody knows I have my own personal tastes as to what I look for in a designed and decorated home. I'm sure you do, as well as anybody else does, slightly interested in the subject. My point in the original post was, I don't see anything original about the decoration. Most of the items and storage are poorly placed. Maybe you need examples of what I'm trying to say?
Why have a porch if you're going to block it just about completely off with statues that don't even go together? That you can't walk on?
Why have this grand entrance with a fountain and I don't even KNOW how many hedges stacked up all to lead to what? 400 stacked chests that aren't even all the same leaving you a one tile path to squeeze through?
You want me to say something nice, I can always find at least ONE thing nice to say about a home. OfLords, I like how you stacked the poppies on top of the lilles under and around your fountain.
I'm also going to go back to this statement. You're a NEWS reporter. You're all YAY Great Lakes, yay we're getting a population, awe we're losing players. It's your job to report news about our shard. And I'd say 2 out of 3 winners in a contest - clearly in an area you're interested in- would be something you'd report about. Also I think it is refreshing to highlight a players plot that may not have every detail refined....those people win contests often and get recognition.
"As for my first houses? I won't hijack the thread and post pictures of the earliest pictures I have, but you can see them on my myspace album which I've posted many times before. The earliest I have would be the one that won the Stratics Chesapeake Fall Home Decoration Contest back in oh, 2005 or so? That's pretty much when I started to get into decoration, seeing how everything I thought was fun in the game, was continuously turning to crap."I love how you're pretty much saying by giving somebody constructive critisism on a forum, is going to make somebody leave Great Lakes.
Whether or not you feature a home of a player, and I critisize it. We can't make people stay or leave, you know this. You've been around, you know if somebody's going to leave, they're going to leave. Maybe, just MAYBE you can prolong it, but that urge will always be there.

Have a sparkling day! I know I will.
*goes back into the real world.*
Kind of like your Luna houses, or California-plastic-surgery-lifestyle, eh?Now we know why the recent design contest winners appear to be so important to you as you are proud of your previous contest wins and have by your owns words reminded the great people of GL many times of your win.
Well....once again...CONGRATS to you !
I love how you're pretty much saying by giving somebody constructive critisism on a forum, is going to make somebody leave Great Lakes.
