If you know those hammers could be duped and bought them, then sorry no sympathy there.

If you don't know they are duped despite being a regualr to this forum, then you are unfortunately a civilian casualty in the War on Dupe.

Of course, EA/Mythytic is not 100% correct in the banning since the players are not fully informed about the dupes. But they assumed you are informed because of the quantities of illegal items involved.
Information of those items being duped only came to light in the last few WEEKS. If she was buying them over the last few MONTHS, then no, she probably did not know. Remember, word of this did not come to light on these UNOFFICIAL boards until acct x-fers were DOWN. Take a minute and really think about that and about what Kith has been saying all along.

.. but did anyone get banned for owning those or the Talkesh robes ??? Those atleast where obviously dupes......
You have a point there! Those cloaks should of been banable, but instead they made them into cloaks of shame.

Though I can see it from EA's view. It would be difficult to determine between victim and villain.

who is selling what stuff ??? nope I'm just stripping the accounts and de-activating them , I'm not gonna let this silly crap ruin the game for me...
Well not all of it , I did enjoy buying up runic's and craft stuff..... thats gonna be a while before I do that again......

You are a fool. You got hosed and treated like crap by a game company. You didn't do anything wrong and you are going to continue to play? You really got what you deserved then.

Amen brother.

You know what the biggest joke of it is? The insane amount of runics was likely due to a dupe that involves the bod itself. Once turned in - you cannot tell a runic that was gotten from a dupped bod from one that was legitimately obtained.

EA is simply going around banning people with lots of hammers/barb kits and ASSUMING they are duped. They have no real proof.

Thats the biggest joke of it all. Nothing like taking away people's accounts for circumstantial evidence.

What a cluster.

Amen too!

Jeremy and all the devs'd invest on programming...
We have a clear state of "poor programming" here!

They are not able to ban who duped...
They are not able to find how these items was duped...

...but they are FAST in banning who own illegal items!

My compliments to the devs!

Looking to close my accounts and maybe for diablo III, or for another game soon!

Tomorrow i'll start for holidays, when i'll be back i think
i'll close all my accounts.

bye bye

LOOK I GOT THE SAME EXACT THING

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Ultima Online Support.

I am very sorry to hear of your account being terminated. However, you were found to be in possession of a multitude of highly illegal items in Ultima Online. Due to the severe nature of this ToS violation, your account was terminated. Sufficient evidence was verified to justify this termination.

The action taken against your account was just and will stand. If you would like to see any changes made to our Rules and Policies, please feel free to submit feedback bia the UO Herald by visiting
http://uoherald.com/feedback/index.php

Any further replies regarding this subject will not be acknowledged.

Thank you and take care.

THING IS I DO NOT BUY ANYTHING I ONLY DO IDOCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY RESPONSE TO EA/ULTIMA YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF I DO NOT READ STRATICS {TIL NOW } TO KNOW WHAT IS OUT THERE DUPIED I HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD NOT BE PICKING UP AT IDOC"S BECAUSE THERE IS A CHANCE ITS "HIGHLY ILLEGAL" THIS IS NOT JUSTIFIED TO DELETE ONES WHOLE HOUSE WHEN I HAVE NEVER BEEN WARNED ON A 10 YEAR ACCOUNT ONCE I HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO CHEAT IN THIS GAME EVER WAY TO KEEP GOOD CONSUMER RELATIONS !!!! NO WONDER PEOPLE R LEAVING THIS GAME

then, in response to this:

So you pick up a chest at an IDOC and find a whole pile of the highest end runics in the game, and DON'T think there's something fishy about it when it's rare for a person to even have 1 Val or Verite hammer, or only a few BRSK's?

First off, I am guessing I picked up these "highly illegal" items from an IDOC because that is all I do. Second, I've never even seen verite or val hammers considering I have no use for them, so accusing me of picking up a whole chest of them thinking that they are the most expensive thing in the game, sir, is ignorance on your part. Third, don't you think I've already attempted to contact EA? Did you NOT see the part of my post of the form letter I received from the email and how it is EXACTLY the same as everyone elses? Once again, laziness by the Ultima Online staff being that you obviously did not read my entire post. Fouth, it was all in CAPS because I am an innocent victim and I am getting absolutely no where by being polite about it. Awhile back when the vinecord sandles came over with the HAXZ guild, their punishment was that their sandles were replaced with regular sandles. How is THIS fair? My house and items were deleted like I was doing the duping. Considering I basically know NOTHING of how to run computer programs, it is LAUGHABLE that Ultima Online considers a 10 year veteran (that has NEVER exploited) a duper. I am 45 years old and this is just a game. Why would I cheat on a computer game? It's not the fact that it's a computer game that bothers me, but the fact that Ultima Online has the adacity to attack my character and call me a cheater when all I worked for was fair. All I want is my house back, my characters back (considering I trained them up WITHOUT cheating) and the things that were not duped. Ultima Online and EA Games had no right to do any of these things, especially since I DID NOT have 7 days to dispute my claim before all of these things were deleted. Look at the history on the account, you can clearly see I have done NOTHING illegal. But of course with the Ultima Online staff, this would be MUCH too hard, too much work. Alright GM's you get your free accounts, how about you earn them? Considering I pay for this god damn game, I deserve to know what was so "highly illegal" and how I was "exploiting/distributing" them. Duping is an exploit, oh look, I've NEVER duped. Distributing is an exploit, oh look, whatever it was, is SITTING IN MY HOUSE UNUSED. Looks like I've done neither of these things and you terminated my account for NO REASON! Considering this is America, people have a right to know what the evidence is against them to defend themselves. But apparently not in this game! EA is judge, jury and executioner. How unfortunate that a bunch of lazy *******s are in charge of what happens to innocent people. Thank god they're not lawyers.
This could be real or it could be a fake.

To give us some kind of buffer with stuff like this, it was necessary to provide details about the 'bad' items in each replied email, plus not do the house deletions immedietely, just go back like a week later and do it.

This would have allowed fakes to be filtered out of public messageboards. When really bad ones like this pop up, you could have checked the actual records to see if the person was posting about an incident that was ficticious. If something ridiculous was posted, all Jeremy would have had to do was pop into the thread and say "I can't find a banning that lists these items?" and people would have been inclined to believe her and sense the story as fake.

Plus, any stories that looked especially bad would have also come with the knowledge that there was a MATERIAL way to look into it and maybe right a wrong, if a wrong had happened. The way the people's houses have been deleted ruins that...

It's not too late to restore some of the perceived integrity. If youall reverse this policy of not providing details to the individuals, it would be helpful.

Unfortunately the outright deletion of people's houses, just the fact that it was done that way, is damaging in a way that can only be helped by pledging to never do it that way again and hoping for the best.

Without more and better information, these posts read like a real account. For what it's worth, there are contextual clues that tell me that this person's main shard may have been Great Lakes. If its real, what are we supposed to think? And what are we expected to do differently in our affairs from this person?

I wish that when a house decays, all items in it would just vanish. Not only should you consider that items inside the house could be illegal (you have no clue in what way they were acquired). It would also decrease the item count in the game a bit. This could only help player economy, to my opinion.

For some people, IDOCs are a source of income. The richest UO players have made their money by doing IDOCs and selling the items. The community would go crazy if they say no more IDOCs.

To the OP:

It's scary man. Even after the "known duper" came out and even after the "official statement" i am not convinced that innocent people were not caught up in the process. This kind of situation makes you feel like you can never be successful in this game without fear of being labeled a cheater. I personally like a good sale and let's say someone is selling off their runics cheap because they are leaving, i am usually the first in line to buy cheap stuff. I don't believe in that whole "If it seems to good to be true" crap.

What they need to do is fix this damn game once and for all and stop wasting time. If they had put an end to this stupidity when people were reporting it, it wouldn't be a need to ban so many people. Someone buying a bunch of stuff doesn't mean they are a cheater or that they knew said items were duped so they shouldn't be treated as such. Ban the dupers and delete the items and stop banning people who may have just purchased the items.

Honestly, i found it quite amusing and insulting that they decided to ban people according to how many duped items they had/have. Are they that lazy that they can't take the time and get rid of the real problem or do they feel that we are that loyal that it wont matter? What about our favorite gold farmers? What about the sites that can sell uogamecodes better and cheaper than uogamecodes can?

This recent banning event was nothing more than a poorly executed witch hunt and the only reason it happened is because they want to make us think they still have some sort of control over this game. The fact is this game is way out of control and they will never get it right. Did they get some dupers? I'm sure they did but how many innocents went along with them?

Banning dupers is not even going to help slightly. Why? Because they can ALWAYS make a new account you cannot stop that and so banning the accounts does nothing but slow the process.

Fixing the dupe is the answer. They did fix it but still chose to ban people to send a message. Nothing wrong with that.

I have wondered about this, but also sensed that perhaps enough people enjoy idoc hunting and looting the dropped items that maybe to do that would cause an undesireable loss of subscriptions.

'a message' is a bit too general, here. It needs to be the right message, and a significant part of the 'message' I am getting says something negative about EA's management of its playerbase.

The crappy part about this is that it was unnecessary to allow the negative aspects of this 'message' to exist. And as of today it's not 100% irreversible.

A moderator of this forum has taken a new, seperate thread I started and combined it into this one.

My original thread references a different topic than the one in this thread. The subject of my thread was that without better information from EA we have little chance of seperating fake accounts of bannings from real ones.

Fortyniner, the entire community is in danger. This is why I left and others are too. You have a situation where players were banned for possession of items without the ability to gage intent. What that means is that possession in UO is 10/10th's of the law. If you had the items, regardless of why, you are gone.

Furthermore, and perhaps more dangerous, is the destruction of items and belongings and the closure of accounts before players are given a chance to defend themselves. Mythic does not wish to support Ultima Online anymore. They want this game to slowly die. How else can you explain treating a community with such reckless regard?

If EA/Mythic wanted UO to go away, they would simply send everyone a 30 day notice of server shut down and be done with it. They wouldn't be doing any kind of cloak and dagger, conspiracy theory type actions.

What they did want to do was send an extremely strong message to not only the dupers, but everyone that plays UO, that cheating in UO will no longer be tolerated, and this is what's gonna happen to you if you persist.

I think they got that message across loud and clear.

The only advice I can give to you is:

1. Get to know your shopkeepers. Who's running the vendors?
2. If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.
