RUBBISH! Before the dupe it was impossible to find a Valorite hammer in Luna, nearly impossible at brit...so the only method of getting one was through a broker or else by earning it. Saying you didnt know it was a dupe it absolute RUBBISH, and hoarding dupes for the purpose of profit is even more rediculous. Either way you look at it...its friggin greed.

You know, if you SEE the people selling rare items for far below their value, even if at a bank, and they make multiple transactions for the same item, consider reporting them. After all, in a case like that, it's kinda obvious that such things are dupes.

And, don't think for a minute that the devs don't have records of what accounts used transfer tokens. All it will take is a little more back-tracing to find some more of the dupers to take out.

It's safe to say that the verite and valorite hammers "shouldn't" be as readily available as say dull copper or shadow hammers. Conversely, they are worth considerably more than what "some" people are/were selling them for......

i dont own a crafter, i do however go around buying kits.
i have no idea how hard one kit is to get then another. i know some are nicer then others and more expensive.

i give them to my crafter friends who make me armors and weps.

if i run around and see a few hammers on a vendor and i can afford them, why wouldnt i buy them???

picking up a chest at an IDOC is a perfectly legal part of the game. if there are items in the chest there's no reason to believe the items are illegal or for that matter "highly" illegal

what you don't understand is that not everyone who plays UO reads or even knows about these forums. there is a fundamental concept to online gaming that if you find something it is yours. you shouldn't have to constantly worrying about getting banned while playing the game.

Nah, that amount is not unfathomable. Buying and selling, or Grinding and Selling will make you TONS of gold if you get the right stuff to sell. Think about this, if you had a small group doing champ spawns or peerless, day in and day out for months or a year, you get lots of good items to sell. It all depends on wether you keep and use all you collect, or sell it all.

What is more disturbing to me is how the Billions, or Trillions of Gold made it into the game and had no way to leave the game, (inflation) Some was thru duping gold, I am sure, some was thru 24/7 farming and some was thru good old honest game play.

There is so much gold just sitting around in check form, that selling stuff, really requires no new gold to be created/farmed. It is nowadays, just a transfer of the wealth. It moves around to different players.

They changed the way bods dropped higher end runics because of this.....

Hanse worked for EA when AoS first came out. Not debating that the hammers were duped, of course they were. Regardless more than 1 per year drops.

I've been playing for close to 10 years and allways had more than 5 accounts , i know how to make money trading , hunting and doing spawns , getting lucky on scrolls and a few high end items will make you a 100m in a couple of days if your lucky.. and I dont spend my gold on anything ell's.. high end equip and runics.. thats it...

what is mind buggling to me is if the staff knew there was a dupe , how the feek could I buy these hammers and stock em over a period of 3 months or so !!! Why the hell didnt they take action against those vendors ??? Tbh I dont get super suspecious when I see 1 or 2 verites for sale , guesse I should have been but hey feek this , my account got smacked and life goes on.... I'm not gonna sit about and cry , its a freaking game.. am I upset as hell ... U BET !!!!!!!

I have to say that I have been doing BODs since they started and have never seen a BOD for a valorite hammer. I have unfilled BODs for agapite hammers and I know people working hard just trying to fill those.
I have found that Barbed kit BODs are much easier to obtain. I have obtained about 8 of those by turning in BODs through out the years.
Maybe people who don't do BODs have no idea how hard the valorite hammers are to get but when something looks too good to be true it is.

And exactly how is one to know what items on vendors are duped?
Just because a vendor has a large quantity of items for sale doesn't mean the owner of the vendor didn't have 50 accounts that did nothing but BODs all day, scripting or not, which is the case in some of the BKit sellers.

We're all paying costumers , without us there would not even be an UO...and we all worked hard en long to have what we have now.

And then all of a sudden EA bans buyers and traders...just out of the blue...when these people did NOT use an exploit to obtain those objects.

I think people are getting crap for their 16 dollars a month.
(not to mention 16 dollars is quite much , if you know the top rated game WoW only asks 13 dollars a month)

Let's say I saved a few million gold and bought an extremely expensive valorite hammer. Let's say it's market price. It's the only one on the vendor, and it's duped.

People who spend a lot of time playing manage to make tons of money, be it from simply owning a house in Luna and putting up vendors, to actually going out and doing champ spawns and selling their scrolls, to whatever else...

My worry is someday I'm going to buy what I think is a rare item, and it's going to be a duped rare, and I won't know the difference.

There's something rotten in Denmark if the situation really is true and they're banning people for purchases, because they should have just shut down the dupers and made those items unavailable for purchase. Hell, a smart duper would dupe tons of shadow runics and sell them for normal price, and no one would know the difference. Until the ban hammer hit.

Quite a few of main dupers/fencers have not been hurt at all by these bans as far as I know. Even the people who are complaining and crying about getting banned here only got banned on 1 account, with rest of their accounts untouched. So far these bans seem amateur at best, but I could be wrong.

I don't think you are wrong. This whole situation seems poorly handled by EA, start to finish.

First off, I am guessing I picked up these "highly illegal" items from an IDOC because that is all I do. Second, I've never even seen verite or val hammers considering I have no use for them, so accusing me of picking up a whole chest of them thinking that they are the most expensive thing in the game, sir, is ignorance on your part. Third, don't you think I've already attempted to contact EA? Did you NOT see the part of my post of the form letter I received from the email and how it is EXACTLY the same as everyone elses? Once again, laziness by the Ultima Online staff being that you obviously did not read my entire post. Fouth, it was all in CAPS because I am an innocent victim and I am getting absolutely no where by being polite about it. Awhile back when the vinecord sandles came over with the HAXZ guild, their punishment was that their sandles were replaced with regular sandles. How is THIS fair? My house and items were deleted like I was doing the duping. Considering I basically know NOTHING of how to run computer programs, it is LAUGHABLE that Ultima Online considers a 10 year veteran (that has NEVER exploited) a duper. I am 45 years old and this is just a game. Why would I cheat on a computer game? It's not the fact that it's a computer game that bothers me, but the fact that Ultima Online has the adacity to attack my character and call me a cheater when all I worked for was fair. All I want is my house back, my characters back (considering I trained them up WITHOUT cheating) and the things that were not duped. Ultima Online and EA Games had no right to do any of these things, especially since I DID NOT have 7 days to dispute my claim before all of these things were deleted. Look at the history on the account, you can clearly see I have done NOTHING illegal. But of course with the Ultima Online staff, this would be MUCH too hard, too much work. Alright GM's you get your free accounts, how about you earn them? Considering I pay for this god damn game, I deserve to know what was so "highly illegal" and how I was "exploiting/distributing" them. Duping is an exploit, oh look, I've NEVER duped. You know what the biggest joke of it is? The insane amount of runics was likely due to a dupe that involves the bod itself. Once turned in - you cannot tell a runic that was gotten from a dupped bod from one that was legitimately obtained.

EA is simply going around banning people with lots of hammers/barb kits and ASSUMING they are duped. They have no real proof.

Thats the biggest joke of it all. Nothing like taking away people's accounts for circumstantial evidence.

Of course, EA/Mythytic is not 100% correct in the banning since the players are not fully informed about the dupes. But they assumed you are informed because of the quantities of illegal items involved.

Just when you think you've made something idiot proof they breed a better idiot.

What gets me is that the devs TOLD US THIS WOULD HAPPEN over a year ago. The people who heeded their warning are not banned.

Not everyone who plays UO reads these boards. Not everyone who plays UO knows that ther should be 1 val hammer per shard per year. Some people just play the game. They bought some hammers. They get banned.

There are plenty of playing and paying customers who dont pay attention to this stuff, so they see what looks to be a good deal and buy it. How do they know it wasent from some turn in or other garbage the e dev team comes up with.

While Im glad they fixed 2 (confirmed by Jeramy) of the 4 dupes, this is just a mess. They need to fix their tracking system. They SHOULD have been fixing these long standing design problems in stead of wasting time on KR....the unfinished client.

Oh and hows SA doing? Oh thats right. Its dead....
