Should I be using this while I'm training up my lumberjacking? I'm wondering if maybe I'm missing out on gains because of the +5 the hatchet gives me? Any thoughts?

that's the thought. the best thing is to lower your lumberjacking so you can raise it faster. obviously, with lumberjacking you can't lower it, but that means you obviously don't want to raise it using the corroded hatchet, etc.

just so you know, you CAN lower your lumberjack.I haven't ever tried this method yet but you can get discorded by a satyr.

OP it would best not to use the corroded hatchet to gain lj with, now if you are tight in points then I would lock LJ at 95 when you get there and then use the hatchet to get to gm.

As of now, the hatchet is going back in the bank. I'm not really tight for points, as the char in question is a 2nd mule that is picking up the few skills that don't fit on my primary mule. So I'll continue to GM as I had planned, but now I won't use the hatchet to get there. I'll go back to my regular NPC bought axe to finish up.

Thanks for the info guys.

If you are not chopping in fel then do so this will help and if you can get to Delucia then you are going to have a ball just wade into the trees up at the north side of town you will run out of effort before you run out of trees

I know fel gives double resources, but does it have any effect on gains?

Hiya. Here is what i did. Use hatchet in Delucia, either side, and some areas give over 2000 logs without you having to move. At 95, Use the Corroded ax to see what the tree is giving. If high end wood, "Blood" ect, keep using it. If normal, or oak, switch back to the hatchet.

Use the hatchet first each day to get your guarentte gain. :danceb:

Gains work on how many times you hit and score wood so the longer you can sit in one spot the better
hence Delucia in Fel with a packy and gather logs or boards whichever you choose and bank them for a rainy day

I was intruiged by this thought. I had never even considered it. It works for lockpicking, why not other skills as well. I decided to test it out, and after doing so, I can't recommend this method of training for lumberjacking. here's my findings.

So, as I type this my lumberjack is in the weld, axe in hand following a Satyr. For the first 5 minutes or so, it worked great. Disco dropped my LJ down to around 55-60. I wandered from tree to tree (keeping my satyr in sight as much as possible) hacking away. After making the rounds of the entrance to the weld, I headed in a little deeper, over near swoop. My Satyr didn't want to follow. He'd rather say near the entrance with his other Satyr buddy. So if I get too far away the disco runs out, and I have to start again. But since the entrance is pretty much clear cut at this point, I have to move deeper into the weld to find wood. Satyr not following makes disco wear off too quickly to be really effective. Maybe I'll re-visit this method when I'm up a little higher into the 90's or so, and gains are coming much slower than they currently are. But as for now, I think I'll just continue to roam around outside minoc and hope for the best.

[Update]
So, I've been in the weld now for about 45 minutes or so, disco'd most of that time, and I just checked my skill. I'm up about 2 full points. I realize that doesn't sound like much, but I have had to spend a fair amount of time waiting around for tree's to re-grow wood for me to chop.
