I see there is a new movie on Max called Caddo Lake. That made me think of this hotel in Jefferson, Tx that's on my bucket list. I do love old hotels.

It's been awhile...

*Edit*
Caddo Lake is a movie, not a series. I watched it last night and enjoyed it. Creepy beautiful place!

Funny thing, THIS is the hotel I was thinking of when I tried to remember the name and just tossed it to Google. It seems Jefferson is full of historic hotels. Now I want to try both places.

Jefferson is a pretty amazing town altogether, definitely worth a trip.

And from the movie The Ghost and the Darkness to the Field Museum where the real lions pelts are housed, I shall return from there to another movie.

The Relic

I don't even remember if the movie was any good. The book was though. Douglas Preston / Lincoln Child. It's worth a read.

Museums to dinosaurs. Seeing the dino bones are really cool but it's seeing the footprints in situ that brought it all home for me. It's surreal.

Another place on my bucket list.

And this place I have visited.

Here is an interesting story that has been making the rounds.

There was 1 iron lung for babies in San Antonio in the 80s, because ventilators improved, iron lungs were not needed. So the one for babies was located at Southwest research where it was used on monkeys. They needed it at the hospital I worked at in 84 or so, I had to safety inspect it before they could use it.

Both horrific and inspirational. It's also a reminder of just how devastating polio is.
