The ToS has been neglected for such a long time if they actually did try to ban the worst scripters they would likely find themselves being sued, the scripters could argue it's been that way for so long they can't possibly have been doing anything wrong, plus there seems to be no list of illegal programs... 
What are they going to sue them for, you can not get Blood out of a Turnip. I don't know about you guys but I really don't care anymore what the big news is or was. When she broke her own rules in the house contest and hurt players her credibility went from nothing to less than. I suspect from her past behavior this news will be cheesy and favor her minions. I stay to build and deco. That is enough for me for now.

you realize they are the ones making money from selling gold, sorry but you cant convince me other wise, I have added every possible spelling of avatar to my ignore list but yet he still pops up in my chat window, only one way that can happen.
It ignores the character number in front of the name not the name. If you ignore Joe, you do not ignore all charcters named Joe. (unrelated...Those numbers change when you shard transfer.) Ignorance leads to this kind of idiotic conspiracy theories.

So here we are 2 months past when this Big Announcement was suppose to be announced and still nothing. I have come to the conclusion that 75% of what they say is fabricated, misleading and plain out lies. Other games have time to put out new material frequently and we cant even get our Dev team to answer us on this little subject. Makes me wonder if anything in their news letters is True.

To be fair I think when they said March they didn't see the Covid-19 crises coming but they could have announced whatever it was anyway, there are a lot of people in game just now and if it's something worthwhile they might subscribe a bit longer. All we can do now is wait for July, if they still don't announce anything there will be a lot of disappointment, but then there might be anyway depending on what it is...

A lot of us thought Steam was the announcement, but she has said a definite NO to that when asked directly, so either it's not Steam, in which case we have no clue and it could be anything or it is Steam and she told a great big porky so as not to steal her announcement thunder. I just hope all the extra players are still here in July, UO has always gotten very quiet in the Summer months.

They lost a huge chance to convert the EJ players that were home into paid accounts. You could have offered people like 2k sovereigns or something like that, but they decided not to anything other than silence. Now summer is here, country reopening and UO population will start to go down again.

Yes, covid pushed back everyone's schedules. But the dev team is so small, if they can't work from zoom, I have to wonder why. The UO dev team is essentially the best possible situation you could want for a team that could distance work.
Realistically, there's been nearly zero new content since Christmas. Publish 108 was not new content. It added a few new graphics - for extra $$. It changed the IDOC system, tweaked a few PVP rules, added a couple new vet rewards, and turned back on ToT. In earlier times, those would have been considered a few more minor patches, not a 'publish'. The only really 'new content' thing was the addition of healers to the radar.
Prior to that, you have to go to Pub 107, which went to test way back in October, only to finally go live on December 3. Added shrine battles, holiday gift items were added, mannequins were upgraded, Krampus was turned on again (and a couple new items added), yet more new keep and castle types were added, oh yes, and it added a few new graphics - for extra $$.
In my opinion, we're starved for new content. Shrine battles were only interesting for the 2 new items. But they were the literal definition of a grind due to having to redo them over and over for those 2 items, and they were the same old lighthouse/invasion/blackthorn's dungeon 'content' reused. Even for the new items, one was just a way to change the look of an existing item, and the other had no stats.
Krampus? Reused old content. (Same as ToT, now town invasions).

I think i read somewhere someone mentioned that the big announcement might be they are adding ultima online to steam. would be a good way to get more people into the community.
To Brian's (and several others) point though if there is no new content being pushed out people will get bored of a 20 year old game with ancient graphics and only subscribe for a short time.
I agree with him that they need to focus on new content. I'd like to see the announcement be something like adding an expansion or starting a new arc with new drops. These aren't earth shattering but would be enough to keep me entertained in between Doom/Shadowguard/Champ spawns.

UO is better than any soap. Can't make the stuff up they keep pulling. Worth 10 bucks each 3 months.

I don't really think the announcement will be anything new content-wise, I'm assuming this from the way it was worded, it referred to 'audience' not content, so if we are all anticipating new lands or races we might be very disappointed, but as others have said for some reason they need to be secretive and cryptic. I know some people re-subbed in anticipation of that announcement and they have now subbed for a few months with no new info, maybe they would have anyway with the Covid lock-downs going on, but they could just give a little hint...I think personally, deep down, I'm just waiting for a big anti-climax to the whole thing, I'm happy to be pleasantly surprised though.
Hopefully they will tell us that Account Management is being fixed AND there is a new list of 3rd party programs be allowed in like anything that automates game play is ok,you know kind of like UOA and the biggest one of all the EC and if we catch you using hacks/multibox type programs all your accounts will be perma banded for life.

They said the announcement is coming after Publish 109. Unless I'm reading the wrong Newsletter.

Not really just you, but everyone I guess. In the past 3 years or so, I haven't been very impressed with the newsletters.
Don't expect the "Announcement™" until summer...or fall. Even the best-laid plans suffer delays, so manage your expectations.
That being said, it was an unfortunate decision to preannounce an announcement they weren't anywhere near prepared to release. While it did generate appropriate hype, that has a way of souring due to an excess of time without morsels of tantalizing info.

I kinda liked the roadmap at the beginning of the year that talked about High Seas content. I really had not much interest in most thing High Seas, but liked knowing what the team was working on. Now I was pretty hyped about the treasure hunting part and tritons. They batted .500 there and no use going into all that again.
This cloud of mystery is bad for all involved, players and devs. Just let us know something. Example...How much time and code was invested into the puzzle box part of treasure chests just to be tossed when that time could of been doing *insert your wish here*? Some of you people are pretty damn creative with awesome ideas. IF they communicate more, maybe things would go a different path. They don't communicate at all. That is a major problem. *shrugs*
I used to tell people I was doing something before I finished. It always led to disappointment. It was one of those things you learn as an adult as you get older to not do. Don't say something until it's almost finished or, even better, done.
Exactly. Why not say, Our new vision for UO keeps expanding and it is taking longer than expected. Then give some teasers. Or at least announce there will be new pets.

I've been watching it closely because my employer just did this "voluntary" arbitration agreement everyone had to sign, but could later opt out and single themselves out. I'm not too worried about the situation because if the need arose I could just mail them a letter opting out, but I assume many of my peers, if the need ever arose, would get shafted a few hundred extra bucks in lawyer fees by being surprised by it. Essentially it's just one more thing a lawyer has to address. That's all those ToS are... It's all moot though... I agree with Dot. You're paying to play in their house and that's all they've promised. It sucks that we become so attached to these virtual things, but ... that's how it rolls. I recently lost $1000 of digital stuff (books and movies) because my ex-girlfriend used my Amazon account to get free stuff in return for good reviews. Amazon didn't take it from me, but they did limit my account. So I made a new one and wrote that $1000 off now that my Prime membership is cycling over to a new year.

It's in the senate now and once the Senate decides through their committee President Trump has to sign it into law.
I recommend diversifying your gaming. There are a lot of fun sandbox games out there now. Some of you have wanted Space and things? There's Avorion, you build a fleet of ships 100% designed by you and even space stations and you can have a small 10 person server. More than 10 people gets a little laggy, but if you have the hardware you could do way more. Terraria on the PC is another favorite of mine you can multiplay with a few friends.

The Senate, as it is currently configured, is virtually guaranteed to let the bill die an ignominious death. Even if it passed before January, Trump is highly unlikely to sign something which would weaken corporate control over us peasants.

I'm just not that excited about the EM tool and that seems to be the big highlight of the letters lately....
