It's all good. We did get around 26 inches of rain over about 3 days, but luckily my area drains off pretty quickly as long as there are a few lulls in the downpours. There were some road closures due to water over the roadways and washouts under the asphalt. I haven't heard too much about houses being flooded here. Houston got the brunt of it. Oh the difference 50 miles makes! More rain next week might not bode well.

Thanks, DrAJ! Looks like it's time to pray for the Caribbean, Florida and Lord knows how much of the Eastern seaboard! Damn these hurricanes!!! Lets also hope that Irma and her stupid boyfriend, Jose, who is right behind her, decide to just meander out to sea and leave everyone alone. Irma seems to have her sights set on Florida, though.

Prayers for all involved.

Anyone in the Portland area? A friend of mine just had to evacuate because of the fires. So, prayers for the folks in that area, too!

Laughing Buddha - Stay safe! You're definitely in my prayers. It seems like your entire state is the bulls eye. Get out if you can! I don't think this is one to ride out.

Blind Otto - Been praying for those folks and the entire West coast and the northwest areas. It's shocking how many fires are happening in those areas. Continued prayers, for sure. I believe our friend Sal Manila is in Oregon, as well.

As long as it turns further east and way east we should be fine. I'm in the Jacksonville area. Also these storms can leave us all alone during our drives, flights and what ever as we head to Va later in the month.

Yeah I'm in the Tampa Bay Area so hopefully it shifts further east.
No such luck as of this morning. Latest forecast has it coming right up our asses in the Bay area. Good luck, buddy. I've got my boats ready. Lol :D

Thanks, guys.

I really hope the media has blown this out of proportion and it's a lot of hype. But it seems a few records are being broken this weekend, and I am not much of a gambler so the entire family is packed into Mom's place - including 14 cats, 5 dogs, and 9 chickens lol. I had a grueling week at work slinging water and canned goods, plus all our own preping at our home and Mom's, but the store is boarded up and closed until Tuesday. We're in Ocala, which is about 35 miles inland from the western shore and usually relatively safe. This is where coastal folks evacuate TO. Even so, I feel a twinge of anxiety when the trees outside so much as twitch, even tho I know Irma is still several hours away.

Just waiting now.

Our friend Monolith from TnT also lives in the Jacksonville area with his family. My prayers are with him, his family and all of those potentially in harms way! Y'all stay safe!

Praying for safety and recovery to normal for all who have been affected by the storms, and the fires. My heart goes out to all who are going through these difficult times.

*shrugs* Wasn't TOO bad. Rode it out in zone A without too much issue. Still a lot of power outage but the infrastructure damage wasn't very significant so people should be back on their feet quickly. Florida is designed for this. The folks in Texas got it worse. :/

That was the idea. Lol. Flooding was minimal enough to be almost disappointing, though.
We can always send you some of our flooding from this side of the state to ease the disappointment if you want... ;)

This was Brickell in Miami:

We made it through in Jacksonville. A record for wind and flooding. Downtown was flooded. Our elec was out from 2am to 930pm the next day. Our daughter was here with her 3 kids and 3 kittens. Her house on the north side of town had a bit of water in the garage. Our son who lives in Hastings, his neighbors sent pictures of his place which is fine. He went to NC and said it was a terrible trip going up.

My Aunt in Jacksonville was fine.. lost half her yard and is now an impromptu alligator rescue center until the water recedes. I sat at the heart of Irene and Sandy.. so I told her to feed them chicken fingers and grow a pair. ;)

I think I found a picture of her as a kid...

All hail the queen of the alligators.

My home is a bit rural, which usually makes it one of the last to be restored so we still don't have power.

Irma could have been a lot worse if it had held together like they expected. I think at the height of the storm, about 65% of the state was without power all at once - definitely a record. The ENTIRE state was on hurricane watch at once, which is also a record. Traffic is a nightmare because a ton of street lights are still out, roads are blocked or flooded, and evacuees are trying to get home. At some point during the weekend the generator at my store failed so we lost EVERYthing refrigerated or frozen. Until a delivery truck can get thru, the deli and bakery is closed, no perishables, no ice - and yet we are still slammed and I am working 16 hour shifts. Kids are out of school, and there is no electricity to keep them entertained so folks are hot, bored, and tempers are frayed.

In the grand scheme of things tho, this is nothing compared to Texas or Barbuda and all the disasters unfolding this year. It makes me sad to see idiots blowing thru dark streetlights like they don't exist, causing wrecks over gas stations, and cussing out cashiers because there is a shortage of milk. But then I am so gladdened by the outpouring of help and volunteers coming in from all over the country and I try to focus on that instead.

Anyway, sorry for the book but my stressed-out little bubble of reality felt a need to be shared. Now I am off to fight my way thru traffic so I can go to work so folks can get food and pick up Western Union transactions. On a side note, the Florida lotto was not drawn Sunday or Monday night, which is a logistical nightmare from a customer service perspective. Yay. With everything going on, it boggles my mind the things that people start screaming about.

Glad others in the Siege community fared the storm well. See you lot in game eventually!

Welp, I have power now, yay! Headed back home shortly, but wanted to share this first. It is probably just a server up glitch (I was char-hopping on another shard to collect anni gifts when I saw Siege was back online, so this was probably milliseconds after maint ended) but was a nice little thing to see for my first day back to UO in a week or so.
