Is there such a thing? I would like to practice some spell combos and don't really like to ask someone to let me cast on them every time I have a combo idea. Is there anything in the game that you can target and cast on AND see the damage?

No sadly there's nothing you can cast one that lets you see damage other than pets players and NPCs

The dummy would need all 70s or be able to wear armor at a minimum.

Actually ..... If you do something like if you are working Magery Hold a -30 or something mage weapon... cast telekenisis on chests... works fine...

Casting area effect mysticism spells on yourself works just fine as well...

Same with Spellweaving...

Necro just trans form into forms...

some people use the satyr trick but I find this method well... iffy .... if you are a neco it's not advised... also not advised to then cast area spells...

Put a crystal ball, say one of the Chrystal Balls of Knowledge from Ortlem in the Royal City, in your pack, cast a spell and target the ball. The game sees it as a valid target and you have the chance to gain skill.

If you're just looking to train and not test combos just target your spellbook

No, but the tool is already there, just needs tweaked by the devs.

I think what the OP is talking about it more of a sparing partner rather than actually training the skill.

This concept has been implemented on some free servers. It actually is a cool concept. It let's you dump on it and has AI to heal/cure. One server even had it set up to where it would attempt to cycle you back. I would love for something like this to come into game. I think one of the main issues with people getting into PvP or advancing in pvp is they either don't have the friends/guild to practice with or might be a little nervous to look like a newb. Both are totally understandable reasons. Having something like this would really help get people comfortable with their casting abilities and macros.

Spot on. How many old players come back to play UO, go to Yew gate and get ganked, called a noob or whatever then never log back in. Probably quite a few.

Then people wonder why it's always the same people to fight and never anyone new.

I swear there is more PvP on various forums / websites and general chat than actually in game.
