New player a bit frustrated (My Story)

You confuse this as a quitting thread, It is not.

In fact i'm still playing the game now. But let me ask you what about my post is "trolling"

I stated that i attempted to look for a well written guide for UO in 2016. There are no guides I did however find a guide written in 2011
I asked in help chat for some direction I was promptly told that this isn't WOW and insulted
I stated numerous flaws in the inherit new player experience and what my thoughts on the matter were.

None of which did I say this was a bad game, that it sucked or any other emotionally charged aspects of a traditional I QUIT post. I think this game is cool, I made numerous mentions about that in this post my wants and wishes and things i want to see along with a self admission that i'd totally resub if I had a bit more direction.

I even stated how I had some positive experiences within the game already.

But instead of addressing that, you label me a troll which is an insult essentially waft me to the side and that my story is irrelevant.

You may as well as join the help chat which called me a peasant and then say something about WOW in a degrading matter and move along. Because you've ignored everything I said and took one sentence in this entire thread out of context.

I'm not asking for someone to hold my hand, I compare Eve-Online to this game a lot because Eve can be very intimidating to new players, and you can literally get lost in that game the second you log in as a new player. However there are videos and tons of well written guides to get into the game.

Also the new player experience in EVE directs you to all aspects of the game from exploration, to money making, to crafting and everything in between. Then the game cuts the strings and lets you out into the sandbox fully aware of what is out there to create your story with.

Ultima Online doesn't do this. They give you a semi directed approach with the new player quest but even then that quest is broken and has been after some research on my part for several years. If you can just get some quest to go to your first dungeon, or how to start crafting or basically a short intro quest to all aspects of the game and then allow you to play as you wish, there would be less questions in new player chat and you can spend more time debating about whatever pointless topic you use the help chat for.

I am out of date on this. But there used to be several houses around the shards, that were rune libraries and had new player guides from A-Z. Do any of those still exist?

We still have Despise. Too scared to go to Fel ?? lol

Was in there last night, actually. Got a bunch of kills, died a few times while massively outnumbered (it was a 10v3 or something similar, but the 3 of us still got a few kills)

You are correct Fel is nothing to to fear.... Because outside of Yew Gate, which ever VVV town is active and Despise FEL IS EMPTY because all the hardcore PvPrS are Sitting around Luna filling GC with the things they do with each others mothers...

Man, where do you play where Despise is empty so often? LS is like that a lot lately, but I've seen two people in there in the past week. Both died to me after a lot of chasing. Sadly, I had to manipulate the spawn into stam blocking/surrounding the 2nd guy. I absolutely HATE when I have to constantly chase people for 90% of the "fighting"

Missed a period Despise was one of the 3 places where there are actually people in Fel

I actually picked the atlantic shard because this forum talked about it a lot. there are a lot of players that i'm seeing which is great although I still feel alone in a crowded room haha.

Anyway that vendor search idea is a huge tip! thank you!

So basically any item i find out that I need to buy i can just type it in and then find it? will i get the exact location? How does the game search for the item on player vendors?

After reading the guide I know i need a rune book for travel also.

If you would like I would start a new toon and try to help you I Have played UO for literally years. like 15 at least LOL pm me here if it would help you!

Also from an old player. I find it easier to start a Tamer or a warrior. Those are your most simple starters. Kill things sell everything and save money. Also in a pinch u can create toons and clean them off and delete for regs/money/supplies. OH also escort quests are sometimes good money makers and helping learn land. Most are gotten to by gate.

Another idea; when you feel ready to head out of New Haven to stretch your legs, take the moon gate to Makoto and head over to Goodman's Rune Library just a bit to the NW (you'll see 'GRL' on your mini map as their roof is marked). They have an incredible library to nearly every place in game that you could want to see.

Not entirely so. I hit Fel Despise on my crafter not too long ago and got killed before I got in the door - and this was on Legends. Getting PK'd is just a bother that would waste my time if I were training a new character

This sounds really good but I just looked at the event calender for any events on the Atlantic Shard. There hasn't been a single one for a month or so and nothing planned this month. So i suppose i'll be waiting for awhile. It seems the EM on Atlantic is just sitting on their thumbs or has given up the game.

Wait what? Atlantic has had events every month + it was all on the calendar. EM Bennu already put out the schedule on Facebook, so I assume it should show up on the uo.com calendar soon

Fel despise is one of the most unsafe places on any shard
