Real bugs, not just things that don't work how you'd prefer they do. Somehow in fifteen years I've apparently missed all but one, and that one may be working exactly as intended by the Dev's as a pita item.

All the pancakes about bugs that gets posted you'd think we'd be tripping over them every move we made and have left in disgust a decade ago, yet most of us don't even run across them. Prove these ranted about bugs really exist and are not just Sosarian urban legends.

How about "phantom" ships getting stuck in Corgul's encounter which permanently prevent you from placing another boat. GM's couldn't fix it. Mesanna couldn't fix it. The only way to make it go away was to transfer off shard.

This is a cheat not a bug.

Duping is an exploit of a bug that allows items to be copied, not a cheat.. this is why a lot of them cannot be mentioned here Tanivar, they would be abused.

Bug: Ship tracking that doesn't work, even when your ship is sitting right next to either a merchant, pirate, or player-owned ship.

Bug: Non-dungeon places on Siege Perilous that aren't in Ilshenar or T2A that you should be able to gate to/from but can't. Some examples: From certain areas on Homare-Jima or in Ter Mur to areas semi-close to Luna or to areas between Skara Brae and Yew.

Bug: Over 60 items that I removed from several vendors on January 30, 2015 are still showing up in vendor search on September 3, 2015, even though the vendors that were selling the items were all dropped on January 30, 2015 and the house itself fell on July 1, 2015.

Bug: You just logged in for the first time that day, cast recall to go somewhere, target your rune book and get the message that the book needs to recharge.

Bug: Elves losing night sight when they are on a ship.

How about getting the Fel music and dead trees everytime you are on after you've been to fel one time in the last month? Or even if you are REALLY good you can notice that the same thing occurs in Tram after you have visited Tokuno or Malas.... look for odd clumps of grass and a change in music...

How about the trade crash bank bug? Where anytime you trade with someone at the bank and if anyone uses the bankbox and then when you try to recall away or Sacred Journey BOOM you crash???

How about the numerous crash bugs in the EC? The inability of the EC to update bars from time to time... The fact that sometimes when you are hunting all chests appear empty the first few times you open it and if you get that bug you have to shut down your pc and restart it to fix it?!? Or how about the bug where you it tells you that you can't open a corpse even though you know you have looting rights on it until you go off screen a ways and come back???

Or how about how sometimes when you try to recall somewhere nothing happens but if you try it again it tells you that you are busy... But then randomly when you walk away then you suddenly recall?

How about when you are picking up items with the "retrieve" function it goes somewhere randomly into your pack anywhere and could be way down the bottom of your bag or anywhere else but never goes in the next open available slot??

Or how about how you can't trade with people in the CC when your in the EC because even though you can see it just fine in your trade window it's WAY off out of the area of the trade window that the CC user can see so he thinks you're trying to scam him...

Or how about how your character "lacks cohesion" even though you haven't recalled/SJed or Gated in the last 4 hours you've been playing???

How about the bug that when I fight people, I'm always the one to die? Oh, wait, that's not bug, I just suck.

When did duping go away?
When they knocked out ---.SC and added the fingerprint to duped items. Not saying they got rid of all dupe methods but they added tracking for duping and fixed them as they caught players in the act.

Bug: Recall Freeze !!! Pretty much you cross a server line and your character completely locks up, you can still see everything going on around you, but you can't interact. Very Rare occurrence, but still annoying when you are pvping and have to log out and back in.

I'm all for getting rid of bugs, but when people say things like "Devs should be spending their time fixing the old stuff instead of adding new stuff" that's too much.

But the devs should be fixing the bugs instead of new content. I play enhanced client, so alot of the bugs may not apply to the classic client, ive have a long list of bugs, but im waiting until the expansion comes to see if any are fixed.

Each client has it's pros & cons. You try them both and make your call on which one works better for you. Sadly none of the three new client attempts have been done by teams who are good a writing user interfaces. Wonder what Pinco could do if they let him write a new fourth client from the ground up done his way instead of patching what the EC's designers wrote. He plays the game.

When listing EC bugs please say whether that is with or without Pinco's. Some of the EC bugs being listed I have never experienced.

The best bug in UO: free 40lmc cost characters (probably the only bug most dont want fixed)
Best future bug - the exploit which allows you to turn old faction silver into Platinum (how many have found this yet?) : P

Most annoying current bug - transfers creating non-vendorable items.
Most annoying personal bug - user settings like "reduce display framerate" not saving (have to reset often, has something to do with switch characters. gms / advisors have never been able to fix after many many pages)

Other bugs that were never fixed:
not being able to loot a corpse when other thing like summons die over it
guardwacks in tram from giving night sight
newly published items not showing up on vendor search
items that appear forever on vendor search that arent really there
paroxymous swamp dragon & grizzled mare sometimes poofing
was the gargoyal flying bola ever fixed? so many bugs in pvp...
being able to drop fish and have them lock down & not decay (your welcome atlantic for luna banks new fish trophy)

Oh that reminds me thank you @Smoot for reminding me of another Bug I find VERY annoying...

Not being able to get Ctrl+Shift to work so you can loot a corpse after some fool uses Animate Dead on it... This is especially annoying when it's a boss mob at an EM event!

In the EC no Pinco's, quite often when doing spawns there will be a dead mob standing there as if alive, Really screws up the target nearest macroing lol, he will actually show a healthbar with 0% health, but ccant be attacked because he is dead. Same varmint isnt there to the ones in CC *shrugs* not a showstopper, but aggravating as hell

Yeah, but we haven't had substantial content addition in litterally years. Bugs are annoying... but I know of no real game stopping bugs. The game needs new content.

EC Bug, after fighting stuff for a while the health bars stop registering and always show full.
CC Bug, already mentioned, but Fel music/trees in Tram after visiting Fel even for a second.
CC Bug, status not falling off of the status bar at 0 seconds left. Things like honor and I've even had bandaging not fall off and negative status. Some even posted how they actually get benefits from this bug until they die.
CC Bug, current bug I posted about how people can show as blue in Tram, but will still flag you if you cast things like night sight on them.
CC Bug, nothing standing in the way of a chest, no guardians spawned, nothing standing on top of you at a chest, but it's still something in the way of the treasure chest or prevents it from popping to begin with.

This bug occurred last night and his been around forever.

Dieing on a teleporter makes the teleporter stop functioning until you customize, delete it, and replace it.

It doesn't happen often to me but given it just occurred at an auction house last night must be frequent enough to play those odds let alone if it's done for griefing.

However, when did you change your opinion of no bugs whatsoever to frequency?

Pretty sure the broken teleporter was all the proof needed to address your original post.

its not, its actually pretty terrible. if you would like to test it yourself, lure any mob onto your teleporter and kill it :) my house has no walls, so spawn gets in sometimes. i try to be careful and use the "eject" feature to remove mobs from the house, but accidents happen. its broken 3 times now since ive had the house. this time around i just dont have the motivation to re-do custumization to fix it, because it takes about 2 hours to get everything back how it should be (deco / deeds / broken soulforge etc) If someone was doing this intentially, they could easily disable any public house they wanted to, everyday, with little chance of being caught.

In the Enhanced Client, I can sell to the NPC vendor, but I can't buy anything. Their wares don't show up. I have to log in the classic client to buy anything from the NPC since this recent publish update.

Broken teleporters used to be fixable by just changing the foundation. Does that no longer work? Or just doesn't work in this case?

if i get up the courage ill try it, thankyou. but that brings up another bug lol. last time i tried to change the foundation (on another house), the character statues i had in the house got stuck outside of the house under the house sign. I just feel like messing with anything having to do with house custumization can be dangerous. for now, ill use the stairs.

How about the old "That location is blocked" message when recalling off a defaulted runebook when nothing is there? You can open your book and cast it from the rune and it works fine.

Actually I created this thread because I ran across another pancake session about the billions of bugs UO has and yet I've played since fall of 2000 and have ran across just one in the SA lava field that may not actually be a bug, but just something a <colorful commentary> Dev added to the game for a laugh. I wanted to hear mention of specific bugs that somehow I've managed to not run across in 15 years. Not just rants about bugs in general, but mention of actual bugs.

So far seems to be a lot less than the rants about bugs would have you expecting.

In a lot of other fourms when you post with an expectation of making fools out of people or proving a point that is controversial it's called trolling and is generally frowned on. There are bugs in the game, I disagree about the billions, but there are bugs as illustrated in this thread.

A bug isn't a game ending code error. A bug is just simply something that occurs that is frustrating and unintended. Bad code writing or testing. It happens to everyone and everything. I can't write a simple macro without stepping in and going line by line through it just to make sure I wasn't overlooking something and sometimes they are the result of not one thing, but a combination of many things. It doesn't have to be catastrophical to be considered a bug.

This happens in the EC with or without Pinco's. It is fairly well reproducable if you are running on and off the screen alot where things are dying. It loads those things as there and sometimes if you go on and off the screen from them quickly back and forth a couple of times like you would when your running around in a champ spawn or down in Exodus dungeon they will not go away when they die they stick on the screen. Best way to know they are not really there is that they don't move or attack you... but yes it totally borks the targeting system.... and pets think you are on drugs when you keep telling them to attack something that isn't there.

CC Bug, already mentioned, but Fel music/trees in Tram after visiting Fel even for a second.
This bug is everywhere no matter what version of the client you use.

That bug is old what use to work is to run off screen then back then you get a rewrite and another corpse goes to the top

There is a crash bug in 2d client when you give a command to a pet at the same moment it dies or that what I think cause the crash

There is a bug in 2d client where an item that you pick up get stuck on screen and unless you find it again and pick it up you cannot pick any item up (if the item is small like a ring it can be realy hard to find it again)

2d client bug where pets get stuck on a tile and only way to get them out of there is to logg out and then back in

I've had many a monster die on top of another, particularly doing Solen Infiltrators for zoogi and Solen Queens for Bags of Sending. They are just stacked and you click down through the stack or use cntrl-shift and click the name bars.

Not what he talk about you cannot loot in any way even with ctrl shift the only way that I know of that work is the one i posted in this thread

You probably have notice that sometimes when you use ctrl shif you get a diffrent corpse than what the name on the screen was it is no problem when you killed all the monsters in that pile then you just open all of them but if it is another players corpse or a summon corpse that you cannot loot then it is a problem

Here's one that isn't that common but is pretty awful:

Getting you character stuck under the house. This can happen one of two ways. The first way is in a customizeable house on the ground floor leaving a tile off after tiling the rest of the floor. When your char walks across the floor and hits the spot without a floor tile you fall through the foundation. You can use the leave house, recall, or help stuck ,but they don't always work. The second way is to log out and someone place a house on the spot you logged out. This happened with my sis and Sequoyah. He was helping her place a castle on ice island. They were having a heck of a time trying to place the castle. It took them a week. Sis got it placed and when Sequoyah logged in he was stuck under the foundation. He tried the previously mentioned ways to get unstuck, but none worked. He paged a GM. The GM couldn't get him out. The GM suggested my sis drop the castle, to which my sister replied " Have you lost your ever lovin mind? It took me a week to place this!" The GM then suggested Sequoyah delete his char. Sequoyah suggested the GM go delete himself. Sis tried ejecting Sequoyah, that didn't work. So Sequoyah repaged, a senior GM showed up, and was able to free him from the castle foundation.

i mostly encounter this bug at events. really not sure exactly what cuases it, usually a huge stack of combined player corpses, and summons like pixies.

This has been mentioned before: EC (I use Pinco's) - corpse backpack closes after you loot the first item, closes again after you loot the second item, closes again after you loot the third item, etc. Gump should stay open until you close it or walk away.
I logged in tonight and a 191 MB patch downloaded, and the corpse gumps were staying open and not closing. Could that be related to whatever patch downloaded?

I've got a castle that has no other houses around it. Sometimes if I go on another shard and run through the area where my castle is then log back on my shard the other houses appear on my screen. You can't run through them . I've had half a house sticking out the front of my castle and I couldn't get through the door. Usually I can log out and back in and it will fix it but one time it stayed that way until the server went down.

I am almost sure the bug is that the wrong corpse open if you do not have looting rights to that corpse you can not loot (another players corpse summoned corpse or a monster corpse that you did not kill)

This is a 2d bug could exist in the ec also that i do not know it it is very old when doing neira and baracoon it happens very often but you can notice it everywhere Ex when you try to loot a ratman corpse in cavern of descarded and a wolf or scorpion corpse open

For normal game play there is a workaround and that is to run off screen then back then you get a rewrite but I am not sure that work at EM events due to so many corpses

This is not a Fatal Bug, but this is bug:
The Ararat boss, named Shadowlord, can teleport players next to his position and when he stands near to barrels or smth else hee can teleport player to that barrel/crate... and you cant go out that position (didnt tested the teleport spell):

This boss is deadly enough without this bug :).

heres a good one.

bug where mobs that teleport players / pets to them are being fought in a building. every time you get teleported in, you move up to the second floor. even more frustrating is when there is no way to get back down. if you have to use help stuck, or wait for an GM/EM the fight is usually over before youve made it off the roof.

similar bug is when the mob teleports you into "stuck" areas. same level, but places your character can not get out of. (good example is shown above, but can happen anywhere)
