Why did the Dev's not allow these two skills to work together? I can have a bushido archer, but not a ninjitsu archer. Only melee can be used with ninjitsu. Why is that?
When archers are only useful for picking up deco items off the ground, come back and and say that.Because Archers have always and will always be the redheaded stepchildren of UO.
I don't have a thrower, but it should work. It still works with archery, but only for half damage. Not sure if a throwing weapon melee hit will cause full damage or not.Didn't think about throwing... Can he Deathstrike?
Once upon a time, archery was the way to fight, from PvPing or fighting Shame bloods (it was easy to hind behind stalagmites or rocks before monsters were given pathfinding). Nine years ago, a short-lived template was a spellweaving archer, because until Word of Death was "re-tuned," it and and an armor ignore often killed instantly. Admittedly, from 1999 through 2004 it was just not effective in PvP (particularly the old requirement of having to stay still until the arrow or bolt hit the target, otherwise moving guaranteed a miss). But for a full decade, archery has far from been one of "the redheaded stepchildren of UO." Look how often Moving Shot and Dismount are employed, the latter in particular with the bola nerf. When archers are only useful for picking up deco items off the ground, come back and and say that.
But in all honesty it's to balance the Stealth Archers. Think of it this way, Archers are the only ones who can dismount at range without a bola. Now think how OP they'd be if they could spam Death Strike afterwards.
I agree the DEV's don't like archers... they have pretty much stripped Archery of most every special that is available to dexers. We have Dismount, moving shot and armor ignore... none of which are in the skills we work to go with our characters Bushido we get to use a few specials... same with Chivy... but Ninjitsu we can change form that's about it. Kinda a waste of skill points for an archer if you ask me. They "ought" to add special moves to ninjitsu for archers to use. That might make it more worthwhile. But yes Throwers I haven't really looked into that... never considered Thrower Ninja's... Seems weird.
I'm just glad they finally upped the bows for imbuing... finally balancing the fact that we can't ever have all the bonuses that others can have with a shield.
I'm not 100% on this but I don't think Honorable execution has EVER worked.I feel that ninjitsu is underpowered. There are only a few ninjitsu "spells" and too many of them need stealth to be of any use.
If ninjitsu is going to get some love soon, please add a few "spells" that need only ninjitsu skill to use. How about an equivalent to the Cure spell?
Off topic, Bushido needs a spell that can be cast at zero skill. (Also, Honorable Execution you have to time setting it so that you kill your opponent in your next two hits? That's PLAYER dexterity, not CHARACTER dexterity... and then you get a combat bonus after your opponent is dead? How useful is that?)
Honorable execution works, its just kind of useless. If you are guaranteed to kill something in the last hit then it will basically regen health/stamina really fast when you land the blow. (Of course now that the opponent is dead your health and stamina really arent that important usually). If you fail it drops all your resists down usually to single digits.I'm not 100% on this but I don't think Honorable execution has EVER worked.
And SHHH on the ninja!! You know this is opposite land and when you ask for something nice and shiny you usually get a chunk of turd instead.
I would also like to see the restrictions lifted on ninja. Anything they can do to provide more choices in templates is never a bad idea.
I don't, I look at it as a support skill, for that it is excellent, just most people haven't and won't see what it offers and incorporate it into the right builds. Some builds benefit greatly from ninjitsu, others get a minimal benefit. It's a largely support skill which adds to and expands on hiding and stealth.I feel that ninjitsu is underpowered.
