What new player is going to look up player skills on MyUO lol? none what a silly comment.
Stratics is supposed to be EXTREMELY helpful in finding skills for templates that work well together not looking up random characters.
And to be honest a 'new player' would look at some of these templates and not figure out how much skill in items they require to be used properly and just suck so no it's not good for any new player to use to copy a template.

Not even working for me right now. I hit the drop down arrow for "select a shard" and there are no shards listed, only "select a shard". Why I type a player name or guild name in the boxes below, the 'search' button remains grayed out. Anyone else have this issue? Maybe they're in process of updating it?

I like it, I don't mind it showing my skills and stats. On Siege, we have alot of soulstones, so many changes templaters all the time, you can never be sure what template your enemy or victim are running when you start a fight or get attecked.

I don't think big deal showing skills.. Couple people already mentioned that people figure out others templates easy enough anyways. I also have no objection to them placing filter on charas either. Over all I'm happy to finally see it back up and running.
I don't see what the problem is with someone seeing your entire skill-set... if you're trying to keep your template a secret, you must be rolling something extremely gimp, and hope now that someone else can't play it better than you.

I see this as a great opportunity for the game to make money through the sale of soulstone tokens for those who are paranoid that they are being stalked. Or, maybe you could rename all your characters the same, so no one knows which temp they are up against today.
Lastly, isn't this exactly the same set of folks that espouse the, "its not about the template, or equipment, its about player skill" crowd?

for the most part your special templates are known... and most of the uo world would be happy to share there templates.. wo worry.. and would take pride in having someone ask.
but i do agree if your one of those that thinks it really matters.. about hiding there known template... then optional opt in or out sounds fair.

No, it isn't. I beg to differ. It's UO, there is no need for "clean leveling" like in other games. Actually I was wondering if it would be a good idea for skills to decay over time so you need to retrain every once in a while. I mean if you have fully trained your characters ten years ago you are missing out on some of the fun of UO. I haven't trained any skills in ages so my point of view is a nostalgic one!
But maybe the devs come up with very neat ideas how to train. Maybe with the advent of trade orders Scrolls Of Transcendence become a lot cheaper...

I chose the free route (opt out), & started deleting my characters. Woot, privacy maintained.

And there is a reason, several, several thousand, why it doesn't work that way anymore.
Doesn't this go against the UK data protection laws? I don't want my data published and there for this breaks my legal rights in the UK. Maybe they never thought about international laws. If I agree for it to be pubished its fine, but there has to be an option for people to opt out

Because what you are stating is wrong. It only showed the top three skills by title (Legendary, Elder, Grandmaster etc) NOT exact skills points. It also did not show you character's Stats.
This isn't your data. Do you remember that stuff you agreed to when you first started?

How in heaven's name do you work that one out? Is your real name there? Is your address there? Is your ip address there? There is no real information at all, just game stats.
It's my opinion. My opinion isn't "nonsense," quit trolling.
I've been looking at both sides of the issue and have a feeling that the strongest objections may stem from something not necessarily connected to the game itself. Some people (myself included) tend to guard their privacy and resent any breech of that privacy unless they've given permission or volunteered the information themselves. Whether in the real world or in the game world, that desire for privacy should be respected as much as possible (my opinion). Give folks the option, and (I believe) the concerns expressed in this thread will go away.
It's not private information at all, you(the player) have no ownership in respect to any aspect of this game.
For a PvP side who cares? If you really think that showing a weakness in a temp is that big of a deal then ADD RESIST(which is the only skill that I can think of which could be exploited), and it's not like some guy in the field is quickly typing in a name to see what gives.....get real.

An opinion without any clarification in a thread that's only purpose is to discuss the OP...
Seeing as how you are discriminating against PVP kind of gives me the impression that you yourself do not PVP....So, why even chime in when you seem to "not care". Bottom line I have pvm templates that I do not want to be seen and I have hybrid pvp templates I do not want to be seen. Resist is NOT the only skill to worry about. Let me give you a little lesson in Meditation. It only works in increments of 10, so if you have 55med you should either drop or raise it by 5 and those 5 skill points can make or break a template.
In a technical, legal sense you are correct. However, this is not necessarily correct if you are considering the psychological mindset of very involved players. Not having an option about this (when being given an option certainly won't hurt anything) may become a serious issue to some players.

I love that someone brought up privacy laws, lol. Nearly every government spies on it's citizens at some point whether they know it or not, listening to phone calls, looking at emails, etc. and you guys are concerned about your in game characters stats being exposed? lol.
People are dying of diseases and car accidents every minute and you care about people caring about privacy issues? lol.

For the record, I personally object strongly to many things governments do these days. And whether it be government or games, I think peoples' concerns should be taken seriously.
How do you people like the layout and speed of the new MyUO?

I'm not bringing up anything about privacy laws, I am asking for MyUO to go back to how it was or add an opt-out feature.

From a person who made a new handle on Saturday of last week I fail to see what imput your sock puppet makes to the game. Can you please teach me something about UO that is new? 5 points in med, you are joking right?
You have PvP and PvM temps that you don't want shared, like anyone cares what you did in the game. You can't even troll this board without logging into "Nephilim", log back into the handle you use daily and tell us again why this is such a big deal.
There is no privacy issue, this does nothing that a person couldn't do at lune or the gate.
