Thank you to all who visited Great Lakes for this mixer. It was a great opportunity to get acquainted and share what has been working and what hasn't There is a request to schedule another a bit out and at a more mid range time. PLEASE if you know other Governors and speak with them let them know about Stratics, and when we get the date set pass the word along. I am leaning toward a weekend maybe a Sunday midday Central time noon or 1 ish? Not sure when yet as August is already filling up with Great Lakes events to attend or work on.
High points of the mixer:
First I'd like to thank Kryonix for his efforts to communicate more often, it definitely helps!
Second, I'd like to thank the EMs on all the shards for their efforts and time!
We all have found communication to be one of the biggest obstacles. Not only with the players but with other Governors seems it is harder to blend role play Governors and non role play Governors than I had understood. Also, there are some break downs in communication and understanding between Governors and the King and his advisers, builders and host of others who get the work done.
I DO NOT want this to turn into a steamroller negative troll or attack. I do see that there is some confusion in this mix and will attempt to spell it out somewhere it will NOT erupt into something ugly.
We are still battling the trade buff and event costs, the new Trader Quest we are eagerly watching and discussed whether it might be possible to get a host of us Governors together to run through this system and see what it actually does as the bugs are worked out. There is a lot of hope and some hesitation about the extent to which this will help. We brainstormed some ideas on what has generated player interest and funds. Including auctions, hunts, events etc. Strictly role play events are a tough sell, lower attendance reported by everyone I listened to. Auctions seem to generate cash for projects (Though they are a time consuming & lengthy process) Hunts can generate numbers it seems, but donations to cities are spotty and still a long trek.
Governor requests were also a topic of mixed results. The primer is in place on most shards I believe. Some requests worked into plot lines or stories seem to get a positive response others modified and others refused. It remains a work in progress, with lots of personalities at play.
I'm going to leave elections out of this thread other than to say if we can get another mixer in before the next election cycle it would be great to discuss this.
I came away from this hopeful, maybe it's just my nature. I didn't hear a single person wish to toss in the towel and quit. There is still a player base that remains committed to trying to rebuild community and generate some spirit, I'd like to see us continue to foster that, support each other and try to prevent burn out.
