Atlantic down again - Can we get an explanation on what is going on?

Most likely dupers being idiots. However this sucks for all of us cuz we get punished. My advice to everyone, is if you have xferred anything to atl in the last two-3 weeks, xfer it off today. Last time they did a revert everyone who xferred to atl lost everything, everyone who xferred off got double. If they did a two week revert today, I'd lose 15 bill in items. So im freaking out and xferring everything off today proactively just in case. They wont give you a heads up because losing everything is better business to these people than you potentially getting double items. So do what you will, but two xfers for 100 mil are better to me than potentially losing billions
PLEASE do not revert a few weeks. People will leave the game in droves, including myself. raresfest was last week. everyone transferred rares and gold back to atlantic. if the game is reverted more than a day or two there will be chaos that i doubt the game will be able to recover from. If it has something to do with duping, keep in mind people realize whats happening now and if there is fear of a revert, Trillions worth of gold and items will probably be duped by people transfering gold and valuables off atlantic in hopes of recovering losses, or purely for gain.

like i said xfer now if you can! everyone from rares fest Xfer off. I just xferred five packies a bank box and a pack. im on my second xfer . i xferred all this stuff this weekend. Im not losing it or all 10 accounts will be closed. They never get anything right!
it is seriously messed up though how the people who run this game think. They don't punish the newbie accounts that are duping, cuz they dont lose anything they just start up the next day on another new account. They punish us and dont give us fair warning that theres a revert and dont ever think things through. Wasting hours of my day today praying I don't lose all my hard earned items.
I would like to start a signing list for all homeowners on a shard to be able to yearly vote if shard transfers can happen on their shard. There should be just a shard that all standard shard characters can transfer to freely but only can return to there home shard. Trade at will. Characters created on the free shard cannot transfer (someone needs to own auction houses there). Shard shield owners can get there pick back per shield or hold out in hopes of having a unique rare after the offer is over. Shard transfers, Soulstones and Spineless GMs have done nothing good for the game.

I haven't been playing lately so haven't been affected by this yet, but please do not do a revert more than a few days...after the large december 2012 revert 50+ people from my guild alone quit the game, none have returned...the game lost hundreds of players because of that, another large revert could damage the game quite badly.

I was about to try a Xfer to Atlantic for the first time, but after reading this, I have second thoughts. What a mess!

i know where i work out tablets have been down all weekend with the predicted fix for tomorrow, and its not like out computers are important.... its only peoples emergency medical files and patient care reports.

You have it backwards, the servers to go down causing the duping, not the other way around. In the past dupers have used exploits to crash shards after they transfer off, which is why people suspect that is what is happening now.

The problem is, if the servers are going down, its probably caused by the players who are duping (because they'd have to know when it's going down to do so.)
I find it interesting that it's Atlantic going down the all the time though, it doesn't mean someone is duping it could be something totally unrelated to duping.
coincidentally just after rares-fest... so it's probably safe to assume items are getting duped.
one issue caused by ~60%+ of the entire UO population plays on Atlantic.
Lets just hope they are able to correct the issue, and if necessary ban the accounts associated with it.

Well last time this same thing happened and then it went down for a long time and when it came back up it was reverted to two weeks prior, it was last december (2012) i believe. I'm safe now got everything off of atl just in case. Prolly wasted 200 mil in xfer tokens including going back but that is life of a UO player at the mercy of people who probably never even graduated high school. What they should have done last time was to revert all shards two weeks so no one would lose anything transferred. However I find myself freaking out now because if they do that this time, it means that I lose my freshly placed castle that I sat at for 2 hours for the hundreth time and finally got lucky. Ah well, ppl who don't cheat get the short end of the stick like always.

Would someone please try to access the accounts management page please. After I put in my email and password it just sits on "waiting for ea accounts". It never goes to the my account page.

Can we get an update? I realize we don't need to know the exact details of every little thing you guys do, but I would hope that 24 hours is more than enough time to at least come up with SOMETHING you could tell us.

How did that revert help? Okay some people did quiet well after it. Most did not.
How long after the daily shard crashes did the 23 day revert take place? I do not think another long Atlantic revert will end well.

So this is why they are reverting the small amounts of time now? That gives me hope.
99 chances out of 100 its most likely a hardware issue.
Software we all would be going down... and other shard outside of lag issues are free from the down parascope routine of atl.

The fur seems to be flying tonight. I don't play on Atlantic, but I empathize since I know I'd be upset if these crashes were happening on my shard. Fortunately, the announcement has been made that they are taking down Atlantic tomorrow for a fix. Certainly that will be a tremendous relief for all players affected. Other than that, I'd like to add one thought regarding a statement made by one poster, that "ATL is UO"... regardless of how populated and busy Atlantic may be, the other shards and all the players who love those shards are equally important to UO. It would be nice to see some of the claws retracted. Just saying.
