GM Parry Solo

So, I wanted a quick way to build Parrying on my own. Even with 9 skeletons aggro'd the hits were "slow", and the gains came even slower. So I came up with the a method that worked well. I used my mage and xfered my parrying via soulstones to my dexxer.

Supplies:
1.) shield, preferably with self repair(SR), (mine had SR 4)
2.) exceptional samurai platemail from dull copper (should give you 70+ physical resist and mage armor property)
3.) 100%LRC (I just imbued the DC armor. The MR and amber was cheap ^^)

Steps:
1.) Cast Protection on yourself
2.) Go to Deceit lvl 1
3.) Lure all ghouls, zombies, and skeletons on the level to the North hallway (it's 2 tiles wide)
4.) Walk back and forth casting Greater Heal when needed

The Protection prevents interruption, so healing is a cinch. Just be sure to kill any wraiths in the group. Using this method, I was aggro'd by 32 undead at once=>I was hit about 25x in the 2 secs it took to run through the group. The rationale for using that specific hallway is two-fold: first, the undeads won't move once the group is fully compressed; and second, the 2-tile width ensures every one is close enough to strike you as you pass by (a 3-tile width would work, too. But you would have to run right down the middle, and I didn't want to have to worry about that.

That's all I got. Hope it helps! Feedback/thoughts are appreciated.

An alternative method is to pick a two handed weapon of a skill you don't have (if you have swords, pick a mace or a fencing weapon) and sit at new haven with many skeletons and zombies attacking you.
Parry will go up pretty fast as since your weapon skill will be either zero or 20, they will score pretty much every hit they throw at you, giving you a chance to parry each one.

@BeaIank & CorwinXX: I totally agree those two methods are fine. Doing this Deceit trick ups the rate of parry checks from ~4.5 per sec (with 9x aggro'd) to ~25 per sec (with 30+ aggro'd); So, I just gained a lot faster.

Does it means that it took you just 30 minutes (including time to gather all those skeletons in one place) to train 120 Parrying? I don't think so. In any case you can gather 30+ sheep in Yew even faster than 30+ skeletons. In addition when you train on sheep you needn't stop to cast Greater Heal or other healing spell.

Okay.. I worked this technique in Yew by luring 30+ animals to the pen and then creating a 2-tile wide channel using small boxes. I also xfered bushido to the char, used a shield and 1-handed sword (no swords skill). I still like the Deceit method more. Here's why:

  1. I was hit significantly more in Deceit -- the skeletons/ghouls' wrestling was ~40 (versus the cow/bird/dog/sheeps' 5-10 wrestling)
  2. The farm animals did hit for only 1hp, but with as many hits as I was taking, I still had to use GH often to stay alive. With Protection cast, I actually never left the grouping, I simply stopped running back and forth.
  3. The kicker for me is that the farm animals continuously lost aggro and required me to re-engage, whereas the undead re-engaged on their own.
So in the end, sheep required less of my attention, but the skeletons got the job done faster.

Update: I returned to Deceit w/ bushido and the sword. I gained almost every time I crossed the group of undead, and many times gained 0.2.

You must NOT use a shield to gain fast.
Use 2H sword to block more.
Use Confidence when you need to heal.
Don't lure any animals. Use tame-rename-release to get as much sheep as you need.

The last time I trained Parrying it took just 20-25 minutes with 2 SOAs. But I don't remember now how much Parrying I had and how much I was need. Probably I trained from 60 to 115. I used 8 sheep only.

I trained parrying last night from 40 to 104 in an hour using sheep. I personally use horrific beast form and lots of bandages. I get some healing training at the same time for another character. I wear only items without durability so my physical resist is low. I do have a weapon equipped that I have 0 skill to use and a shield. I go through a few shields using this method. I should finish to 120 in another hour tops.

I meant to mention that I have 0 Bushido on this character at the moment for training.
