I just wanted to add, Flutter, that although the item the OP mentioned and the items other people have mentioned or hinted at may all have been created by Mesanna, it's likely that if they are going to be "fixed" so they function as they originally did, it will probably be one of the engineers (Bleak or MrsTroublemaker) who will be writing new code or restoring deleted code. And to do that correctly and as efficiently as possible, they probably need to have a pretty extensive list of the affected items. Since they didn't create those items, there's probably no way for them to really know how big the "problem" really is unless someone provides them with a list.

Theres a lot of rares that used to work in your packs some would sparkle some would shoot flames up some might just make a smoke effect.
How they came into existence: EM Events/ UO Story Archs etc..
A guesstimate of how many exist? Hundreds? Thousands? It's not just one item people want fixed its dozens and you figure anywhere between 1:100 of each item were created.
The items would flame/smoke/sparkle etc in your pack and while locked down in a house
They no longer smoke/sparkle/flame in your pack only when locked down and if they are a container such as the keg above it doesn't work while secured only when locked down.
I dont think people are posting each and every item because the devs know which item is supposed to do what :/ and everyone here is hoping for a fix but really wanting an explanation as to if it was just a bug or accident or what.

What I'd like to know now that this problem is out in the open is...
Will this issue be fixed? Is someone working on it? Or is this now the new way they will be and I can hang up my items and quit having them in my pack because they are basically "ruined" now?

Any official word on these items? I'd like the flames and sparkles back please.
Just to point out, if they ever fix this, the complaints will begin immediately. "They can fix this but they can't fix _____?"

True, but people should look at it like car repairs. Sometimes you just need to swap out a battery, easy fix, sometimes you need to tear the engine apart, hard fix.
I suppose the code is like that. There is some low hanging fruit, easy fix. Then there is the hard stuff

I find it extremely frustrating and annoying when they change content that has been in the game for a some . The DC is what...2 years old?
Why the #$%^ are they changing content on something 2 years old?
If you want to upgrade, add or enhance existing content fine but leave the hell alone the things in UO we've come to love.
Same things goes for Exodus out of the blue not being able to cast WoD.

the dev's still have not even commented on this issue, which is pretty annoying, all it would take is one dev posting one time on this post. all they need to write is whether its a bug or not, and whether they are gonna fix or not.

Every time there is a vet reward thread you are quite adamant that the devs need to change the rewards. Would you like me to look up and quote some of your vet reward issues? Wouldn't take long

Why can't a dev respond here?! At least one or two have to be aware of this thread by now. 100's of items changed for no reason anyone can see after years of them being able to work in your pack Years! and with the devs/ ems all fully aware of them during the whole time and continued to make them that way, again for years! Even Mesana helped me personally make my demonic statue so it would work locked down in my home so others could access it to make the flames when they would come to visit as well as in my pack as it was originally designed to do and by the way is the way I used this item the most....In My Pack. This is just ridiculous ruined a ton of items people used and had fun with. PLEASE CHANGE BACK ASAP OR TELL US WHY IT WAS CHANGED! I mean really how hard is it for a dev to comment. Just makes me sad that a dev can't take one minute to comment and explain to everyone what the hell they were thinking or was it an unattended change for them...tell us something!

I went ahead and sold my statues bc I believe there is no turning them back. This is just like the halloween heads being changed and no explanation. It's there game and I guess we only pay them $15/m/account until they break enough things we like and then they will make $0

It's pretty clear the devs are ignoring this for some reason, no idea why, would only take them a minute or two to respond.
They're probably ignoring it because of the people running out holding these items, spamming unnecessary animations with such items causing lag for other players, just an assumption...it's never been a problem before, at least not enough to warrant this change.
I don't think it was an intentional change though, or it would have been listed in the publish notes of whenever this occurred.
I could definitely see why it's not a high-priority fix though.
