Spell Casting Damage / SDI / Slayer Spellbooks in PvM.. Questions

OK.. I was trying to just crunch some numbers to see how certain Mage buids with stacked SDI can do against various monsters & I realized I'm fuzy on how it all works.....

I've looked up what I thought was the BASE damage of mage spells here... but the description says the listed numbers account for Eval & Scribe. Is there a list somewhere that gives me the BASE dmg a given spell does that's then modified by EVAL / INT / SDI ??
http://uo2.stratics.com/magery/spells

& Also Silly question... but Slayer spellbooks work the exact same way as slayer weapons correct? Meaning that if I Ebolt Monster A doing a max of 50 damage with no slayer of any kind... Then if I equip a super slayer it will Double aka 100 dmg Ebolt and a specific slayer will Triple aka 150 dmg right?

Edit.. ok a wee bit more looking around and I find that UO guide lists... GM Eval / Scribe as the skills / attributes used to determine the Damage ranges THEY list.. They didn't list what INT they used but I think I will assume 100. So now it's making way more sense.. I was taking those base numbers as if they were BEFORE the 120 eval 4.6 modifier lol.....

Spell damage increase is a true conversion so if you take a super slayer spellbook (double damage) it is indeed a 200% spell damage increase true conversion (meaning if you do 50 damage without slayer, you'll do 100 with the slayer).
-Eval always come first in calculation ((evaluating intelligence * 3) / 100) + 1 = spell damage from Eval . According to uoguide it looks like its a damage added so at 120 eval it should add 4-5 damage to your damage spells (which corresponds to yours list for the spells range damage)
After that you add the % sdi from:
-items
-Intel, 1% SDI for 10 intel.
-Gm scribe, 10% SDI

Add all that , and you get your final % SDI that you modifie from the base damage from your list.

Yea that's the assumption I started with but the problem was that the BASE dmg in that list isn't actually BASE dmg.. It's more like damage at GM scribe / 100 Eval etc.. heh. Do you know of a list that is TRUE base damage for given spells? I almost pm'ed you with this question so it's nice to see "Mr. NUKE" chime in lol.

Are you sure its not the base damage, it looks like its base damage if the target has 0 in the corresponding resist , no?

120 Eval = 4.6
GM Scribe = 0.1
150 Int = 0.15
~100 Sdi = 1.0
Total of 5.85 x BASE dmg... Then you Double or Triple it from your Slayer book...

If the BASE max damage of an FS as listed is truely 67... Then 67 x 5.85 = ~ 391 dmg.. X 3 for a Specific Slayer = 1173 dmg FS ??? Yea pretty sure the BASE numbers listed are for GM inscription / GM eval as it specifically lists on uoguide. I just wanted the base spell damage ranges so I could do the math easier.. Imagine if they only listed BASE weapon damage as GM Tactics / 100 STR etc? That's the confusion pretty much.

no I think eval is not a X factor multiplied, its added in the beggining of the calculation,So 67 + 4,6 = 71,6 x 1,25 = 89,5 x 3 (triple slayer)= 268,5 damage

Lets take the same calculs for navreys exemple but with eval added instead of multiplied it would be 268,5 fire damage from FS but thats if navreys had 0 fire. Since navreys has usually around 50% fire resist, the 268,5 fire becomes 134 which makes sense. Thats usually what I do to navreys 134 damage FS...

120 Eval =38% SDI
GM Scribe =10% SDI
150 Int = 15% SDI
+100SDI on suit=100% SDI

=163% SDI so take your 67 point base FS X 1.63 from SDI = 109.21 FS then X3 from specific slayer for 327.63 point FS.

Yes it makes sense it would do 327,63 divised by 2 to navreys since it has around 50% fire resist, so 163 damage FS makes sense at 100 SDI with items.

interesting thread.

i dont play a mage much but i do have a nice maxed out one, i just logged him in and im trying to think how to get his suit to 100 SDI?
i already have 150 INT and GM scribe, and my suit presently has 65 SDI but thats with 30 SDI from the spellbook im holding.
so id loose the slayer damage modifier.

so how do you get a suit up to 100 SDI?
ring - Crystalline Ring = 20 SDI
Hat of the Magi = 10 SDI (suppose you could go Raja and get 12)
Pendant of the Magi is another 5 SDI
bracelet.... imbued for 15 SDI?
so im guessing theres probably a SDI shield and probably some arms or something?

Max spell damage increase is 229% see this thread http://stratics.com/community/threads/highest-crit-damage-ever.303256/#post-2298983
, I recently made it up to 229%

From UO Guide - http://www.uoguide.com/SDI

(I am pretty sure this is still accurate as of today)

Maximum Possible SDI

As of August of 2012, the maximum Spell Damage Increase from equipment is 124%, which is constituted from the following:

Spell Woven Britches 10%,
Crystalline Ring, or Compassion's Eye 20%,
(A maximum) Bracelet from the new Random Magic Item Generation System 18%,
Wizard's Crystal Reading Glasses 15%,
Midnight Bracers 10%,
Pendant of the Magi 5%,
(A maximum) War of Shadows Magery Spellbook 30%,
Cloak Of Death 3%
Mana Phasing Orb 5%
Ranger's Cloak of Augmentation 3%
Protector of the Battle Mage 5%

not 124% anymore, its 229%
I re-read the thread you linked to, and I don't see 229% coming from equipment? The 124% is from items only, not buffs, spells, forms, etc (unless I am missing something).

Eval is a Big FATTY Multiplier though..... 120 Eval is 4.6 Multiplier which is effectively 460% SDI lol.... The numbers in the stratics link ARE NOT Base dmg.. they are probably GM EVal / GM scribe / 100 Int numbers. My quick test...

70 Fire Resist
150 INT = 15% SDI
100 Scribe = 10% SDI
120 Eval = 4.6 Multiplier ((Eval *3) / 100) + 1
30%SDI Items = 30% SDI

120 Eval Vs 70 Fire Resist FS was doing 33-35 Damage.

0 (ZERO) EVAL (Elf) FS was doing 7 Damage (4.6 x 7 = 32.2 which means the 33-35 is all in the rounding pretty much)

Claudia... I see the part about 38% SDI on UO guide about Eval... but that's obviously not the case... It's more likely that

In the 1st case where I was doing 33-35 Damage with FS & 120 Eval..... My total multiplier was 5.15 x Base Dmg of Flame Strike = 33-35 Which means......
Full damage prior to figuring 70% Fire resist = 33/.3 & 35/.3 so... 110-116.6 FS with my 5.15 Multiplier or Base FS dmg when everything is all ZERO'ed out ....

110/ 5.15 = 21.35 & 116.6 / 5.15 = 22.6 So FS Base Range depending on how it all rounds ~ 21-23 with ZERO INT / EVAL / SDI / SCRIBE... etc. Anyway I was really just looking for BASE dmg for the spells not how they perform at a given Eval / int etc... but I guess I can work backwards to get there to....

Yes Its pretty accurate from equipement , only missing 2% from Greymist armor gloves
