meees wants old one back!!
Secondly, if they were toned down because players complained a) they did that art very quickly considering if it wasn't planned and b) it's still gory and covered in blood. So it wasn't exactly "toned down" if that was the intention. It's not toned down at all, the heads are just in costumes. As they said in the notes. For all we know at this stage, they could have little santa hats on for Christmas. In the spirit of Halloween the UO Team has donned Halloween costumes, Enjoy!!
That could very well be true, but if it is, why haven't the developers responded and just say so? That would have ended all the ranting. I think they have forgot how important communication is.... I fully expect it will wear off after the holiday and they'll go back to the original art. Unless a dev says the change is permanent I don't see much point complaining about a change...

What? You don't think they have better things to do rather than respond to all the rants that go on, on this site? That could very well be true, but if it is, why haven't the developers responded and just say so? That would have ended all the ranting. I think they have forgot how important communication is.
They've got a new publish making its way to production shards and there's obviously another one coming after that too. That's probably a much higher priority than trying to reason with Uhallers who are being negative (we all know how futile that can be at the best of times!). If the devs confirmed it was a temp set of artwork they'd likely complain that extra effort was spent on the heads which should have gone elsewhere. I think they're busy working on the new stuff with the weekend approaching. Proper communication includes prioritizing where your time is spent. Right now I'd say they'll be focused more on watching for bugs with the invasions etc and what players are saying about that so they can tweak stuff. Art changes can waitThat could very well be true, but if it is, why haven't the developers responded and just say so? That would have ended all the ranting. I think they have forgot how important communication is.
That's just silly, utter nonsense. Whenever changes are made, they are documented. All they needed to do was add one line of explanation to the publish notes, which have already been published, that the change was being made. That's customer service 101.They've got a new publish making its way to production shards and there's obviously another one coming after that too. *smiles* Well if you know so much about how it should be done, I suggest you go apply for work at EA and sort them all out. See how you get on.That's just silly, utter nonsense. I do know about documenting changes like this - I've been doing that for over 30 years in my job. Are you saying that the developers don't need to tell us about changes being published? Only some changes?*smiles* Well if you know so much about how it should be done, I suggest you go apply for work at EA and sort them all out. See how you get on.

Ahh, thank you. I did not associate that part of the announcement in regards to the heads on a pike. I was expecting to see the UO team appear in game somehow in costume. Thanks for pointing this out.....it was in the change log for the next publish at the very bottom
"In the spirit of Halloween the UO Team has donned Halloween costumes, Enjoy!!"
Since the developers made an unannounced change without any explanation, not even a mention in the publish notes, yeah I do think they should respond to the rants they unintentionally are responsible for.
ANY AND ALL changes should be included in publish notes unless the changes were made because of exploits.

Now who is the FOOL? Guess you really need to learn how to READ.I do know about documenting changes like this - I've been doing that for over 30 years in my job. Are you saying that the developers don't need to tell us about changes being published? Only some changes?
The problem here is that the Developers are getting lazy and this seems to be a new habit for them. It's not unfair for me, or us as players, to ask to know these changes are coming rather than be surprised by it. I still remember the fiasco created by the unannounced healing/re-targeting change earlier this year, and think that whole incident could have been avoided.
Name calling - how very trollish of you.Now who is the FOOL? Guess you really need to learn how to READ.
Ever since i started to play 14 years ago there was never any documentation on what was done to UO by the devs. Hell there wasn't even a manual when you bought the game from the shops. UO has always been about discovery!I do know about documenting changes like this - I've been doing that for over 30 years in my job. Are you saying that the developers don't need to tell us about changes being published? Only some changes?

Since when do you chose what the Devs want to look like If they want to have chicken heads on a spike with their names on it thats their choice and your objection is pointlessName calling - how very trollish of you.
I read quite well, thank you very much. As I said, I did not associate that with the heads on the pike, and would be willing to say based on the dozens of questions in the general chat, no one else did either. Like I said, I read that to mean the team was going to appear in-game somehow, like the Shard of the Dead with uber-boss monsters named after the developers. No where is there a direct reference to the change to the heads on a pike.
TROLLblah... blah.. blah...
I thought UO had a minimum age requirement obviously not enforcing it!TROLL

My Spolied 21 year old daughter still acts like that, they never grow up, mind you with that said my 13 year old boy acts like a 99 year old man... Being a parent means you never win i guessReading this post reminds me a lot of when I'm kids were real little, and I'd come home from the store with a treat and get an initial complaint of, that's not what I like/wanted..thank god they grew up and out if that unappreciative stage..unfortunately most of the UO community has not..and on average 6-7x the age of my once spoiled 5 year old..
Wait till you become a grandparent so you can spoil the grandkids and then send them home. Its so great hearing from my kids about how spoiled their kids are. Pay back is a BLESSING.My Spolied 21 year old daughter still acts like that, they never grow up, mind you with that said my 13 year old boy acts like a 99 year old man... theyre still bloody though rofl...Ok, folks: EM Borbarad announced in GC on Drachenfels 5 min ago, that they heads will stay as they are now. Reason: Complaints of players the old heads were too bloody.
I think...
...(1) the crybabys have won again. It is so ridiculous. Minorities getting heard - always...
...(2) who wants to get rid of his / her collection: I will take it. I still like them...
Best wishes

And I've never played any of those games. To the frickin whiner-babies-
PLUUUULEEEEZZE GROW UP! Haven't any of you played GTA? You pick up, screw then kill a hooker!!! Um have you seen God of War? You can freakin rip the heads right off your enemies! Call of Duty, Halo, R.E., Last of Us, Walking Dead, Medal of Honor and Defiance all WAAAAAY more graphic than UO. Please if it offends you go to WoW, Go directly to WoW, do not collect your vet reward and the 2 billion gold you probably buy! I liked them the way they were ESPECIALLY Jeff Skalaski's !!!!!!! LOL
FYI for those of you in B & M chorus over the devs sticking their names/faces/whatever in the game.
Really. You're the incarnation of Noah Webster that you have such control over dictionary definitions?Okay you are here by no longer allowed to call yourself a gamer PERIOD!
Are you blue in the face yet from your spew of insults? As long as there have been video games, Game Devs been trying to get their 2 seconds of fame or digtal immortality. First one that comes to mind is a TI 99/4A Educational game Luc had, on the opening screen it boldly said "Author: Thomas Hartzig".
Now unless you have been living in a hole in Siberia, you've heard of Mortal Kombat! Remember the Toasty/Frosty/Spicy guy that popped up? That was the FREAKING Sound Designer!!! Here's the link if ya don't believe me: http://mortalkombat.wikia.com/wiki/Toasty! Leave the Devs alone, shut up whining and if you don't like it then go play WoW with rest of the infants.
Ugh... I bet you $100000000 I know at least one person who cried to the devs about this. God, so incredibly lame. The most lame part... THEY ARE STILL JUST AS GORY. They are now just gory monsters rather than gory people. Stupid.
Completely not surprised. And the devs have had so many opportunities to communicate this decision to the boards, and yet... yeah. It's cool, you don't even have to evade a question if you chose not to acknowledge it.Ok, folks: EM Borbarad announced in GC on Drachenfels 5 min ago, that they heads will stay as they are now. Meh, I still say we should just deport the whiners to World of Warcraft. Let em mess up someone else's game and leave ours alone.Completely not surprised. Thanks for passing that on, but I would believe it more if it came straight from a dev. One reason being that they look just as bloody as beforeOk, folks: EM Borbarad announced in GC on Drachenfels 5 min ago, that they heads will stay as they are now. My big thing was consistency: I don't think they have a place in UO, but since they are, let the game have an appropriate rating and let's have severed heads again.
So now you have control over who plays UO, hmm?Meh, I still say we should just deport the whiners to World of Warcraft. Let em mess up someone else's game and leave ours alone.
