and sadly if others follow suit this will be the end of UO.
Yep, it would be sad - but apparently EA have plenty of money, so much that they won't even take mine when I try give it to them for the King's Collection.

Since they are still able to take money for gametime, though, and it seems for anything else I usually buy from the store, I'd not be that worried about UO ending.

Yes, I bought one right when they came out. Now cannot buy anymore. Rediculous, I have many, many accounts (even though I want all the tokens on my main lol) in any instance it doesnt matter, cannot buy more since I was an early bird and was one of the first to buy.

Ill trade anyone who can buy them though a 10 use forge tool for just the Token :)

Remember you need the code too, not just the token, else you don't get the option to craft this new items and you can't collect the SoT and canon balls

It appears that the King's Collection is still not available on Origin's Canadian site. I contacted EA by chat today and customer service could not assist. They transferred me to the Origin Store support. After 30 minutes, the agent said that all Ultima Online (or Ultimate Online as the agent refers to it) inquiries need to be handled by [email protected]. So... I sent an e-mail to that address and received the following response:


Hello,

We apologize for any inconvenience you have encountered attempting to get your code, unfortunately that would not be something we would deal with. That would be up to Origin, and you should contact them and ask how they plan to distribute that code.

If you have any further questions or would like to speak to a Technical or Billing support staff member, please feel free to reply to this email.

You can contact the Technical or Billing Support departments by e-mail at [email protected]

So, I figured I'd give it one more try. I called EA support and waited on hold for 30+ minutes. The agent answers and immediately hangs up the call. Unbelievable... Sometimes I wonder why I keep trying to give them my money after 10 years of this type of service.

If anyone has any luck with this please let me know. I've e-mailed Mesanna so hopefully there may be something she can do.

As an update.... I decided to try to reach out to them again to see if someone there would take ownership. I went on the web site to request a callback to my phone number. The site said that it was less than 5 minutes to receive a callback. After an hour with no phone call, I called back to customer service. The person I spoke to said that he would walk over to the "Ultima Online people" and ask. So...10 minutes later he comes back, tells me that there is a problem where the only site that it can be ordered from is the origin US site and he would open a ticket for me to get this resolved as soon as possible as he values my service and wants me to continue to be a customer. I thanked him for taking ownership of the issue and he told me to check my e-mail for a response. Two minutes later I get the following response in my e-mail:


It is Dave from EA Support.

I am sorry for the run around you have gotten from trying to find an answer to your issue. I understand it is frustrating for you. If you have any other issue please contact us as soon as possible.

Hmmmm.... "We have closed this case for now" does not reassure me that the issue is being resolved. Come on Origin!!!! Seriously. Don't get me wrong...I love Ultima Online despite the lack of any major story arc since Draconi left (other than Lord Blackthorn's coronation) and despite the fact that the only updates on the web site are regarding bugs or servers being down. I really think that customers should be treated a lot better than this and be provided with a much higher level of support, especially when we are paying every month for this game. Improved customer service, more frequent in-game storylines, and accessible add-on content for all players is what will increase the subscriber base. I hope EA/Mythic is listening...

Again, if anyone receives any further information about this, please let me know. As for me, I'm done spending another minute looking into this. If and when the issue gets fixed (who knows... Maybe Mesanna will reply to my message with some good news), I will think about whether I will buy the King's Collection after everything that has happened.

Elplin, have you tried using a proxy server, to make the Origin store think you are ordering from USA? Most are to let you serf more or less anonymously, but you can spoof the country IP address. I've read on these forums of others doing that. Just beware of any tax legalities, etc.

Thanks Mesanna. I appreciate your help. I know that you all are doing your best but issues such as the one above really need to be improved from a customer service point of view. It may even make the number of messages to your inbox decrease dramatically. :)

Every company needs to have that one employee who knows how to get things done. EA needs more Mesannas.

Perhaps, but what they need more are managers who are aware just how awful their 'customer service' really is, and are prepared to get a grip on it and sort it out - but that seems pretty much a forlorn hope, not least because of their unerring ability to 'close' calls that are FAR from resolved. I'm absolutely convinced that is being done to make the internal stats for 'customer problems resolved' look infinitely better than it truly is...

UK store is still at the 'you bought one so cannot buy another' state, spoke with their 'customer support' again today and at least this time got someone honest enough to say they do not know yet when it will be fixed (makes a change since three consecutive days last week I was told 'we expect a fix within 24 hours'), and this guy seems to be taking seriously the issue that telling me to contact an in-game GM or email the Ultima support address really is NOT the appropriate answer when the problems is 100% at the Origin store.

To quote his latest email,

"As discussed on the phone the Ultima Online developers are aware of the limitation affecting customers who have multiple UO accounts on the same Origin account.

They're working on implementing a solution that should allow everyone who has multiple UO accounts assigned to buy King's Collection on all of the owned accounts.

I have forwarded the call routing issue and your cases not being recognized by the phone system to my manager for further review.

I am sorry about the confusion in regards to your issue, we're constantly improving and will make every effort to avoid bouncing you between support teams unless necessary.

Thank you for your understanding, and in case we can help you with anything else, make sure to contact us again."


Whether anyone actually takes control of this mess though, or they just fix the immediate problem and ignore the underlying issues... I'm not holding my breath in hope. :(

Oh, I agree with you about EA as a company. I am no fan of EA. At this point in time, I have no intentions to ever buy another product from EA... EVER.

BUT, that doesn't take away from a good thing, and I still so appreciate all the help we get from Mesanna. There's still hope for UO as long as she is around. However, should she gets cut in another employee layoff though... we are lost. *shudders*

You can buy this game from any local store as well or you can wait till the time the stock available for this game in Origin.

I've bought none. Will finally be upgrading my main to HS later this month, but nothing in the King's pack grabs me enough to warrant the purchase.

I bought one for my crafter account and unlike previous expansions/add-ons (Rustic, Gothic, High Seas) I highly doubt I will buy one for my last two accounts (especially since at least one more of them will be cancelled soon). Like Samaira, nothing is terribly exciting about this latest collection to justify the $10 and that's saying something cause I spent more than that for a fast food lunch today.

As of today (July 5th) the King's Collection is still not listed on Origin's Canadian web site. (Mesanna, please help!). :).
Was this a recent development? I'm Canadian and bought mine off the store a few days ago with no issues...and no I'm not using any kind of tricks to go to the US store...but after reading your post I went back to the store and sure enough the store looks different and that pack is no longer listed.

I just bought 2 more today.... and had to buy them on a "Guest" account because my usual one told me I already had this item.... and to remove it from my cart... so I played the stupid game of just buying the freaking thing and was done... completely stupid if you ask me.

I'm baffled, truly baffled, at this lack of communication within EA. You know what's sad? From a coding standpoint, all it would take is removing the minimal lines of programming that test the account for a prior purchase of the item. Why hasn't Mesanna pressed the webstore programmers, or has she tried and they don't care?

Clearly not all items are tested for prior purchases, because I can buy as many of other things as I'd like, e.g. reforging tools. A database I once administered with had similarly silly restrictions on certain actions. I'd tell our liaisons at the vendor that we didn't need the system to limit anything, because sometimes we'd want someone to have extra (which would require admin approval anyway), and that they were only making it more difficult for themselves and us to put in that extra code. A liaison would say, "OK, we'll get back to you," and nothing ever got fixed. Sound familiar?

I'm confused, are you saying you'd rather them put pay-to-win stuff in there? Or just more practical stuff, like crafting or storage-related things? o_O

Thanks for your feedback. Based on feedback I received and the fact that after being promised that the King's Collection would be in the Canadian Origin store as of July 3rd, and it is still is not listed as of today, I have decided that I will no longer be purchasing this item. If this were any other customer service issue with any other company, I would have walked away a long time ago. I guess I have a soft spot for UO. Although I have respect for the amount of work that Mesanna does, there is no excuse for being told that a fix would be in place by July 3rd and having no updates posted regarding the continued delay even though a week has passed, despite multiple requests being sent for more inormation. Poor customer service, plain and simple.

For everyone who got the King's Collection, I hope you enjoy the content. Hopefully my experience will be different the next time an update is released.

I might get one, but I really don't need SOTs, Potions, or Powder Charges. Hm. $10 isn't too bad, though.

If you have a crafter it's nice to have - just for the sake of being able to make everything...especially the wall shelves - beats using a bench raised up on your wall.

Actually it sucks. I made a few and while they are "ok" first off unlike a bench you can't move thru them... so they take up a space along the wall and you can't walk under them. Secondly you can't stack them like you do benches for shelves.. they simply don't like to... If you manage to stack them then you can't place things on them as it won't let you put more than 4 things in a tile Or you have to have a chest there and break it and all manner of other insane practices to get more than one shelf in the same spot on the wall. I wish they were NOT deeded but an item I can place, turn, raise, lower and yes.... stack several in the same tile space and walk thru them.

Well I like them more than the big clunky benches on my wall, but no, I wasn't trying to stack multiples in one spot. I'll have to try what you're describing, but it can't be much worse than the old days of using death robes, coins, etc to stack items like we had to do before they invented the interior decorator.

As of July 10th there's still nothing on the Canadian store :( Also just getting bounced from Origin support to UO support. Each says the other needs to handle it :(

Agreed. And it appears Mesanna is no where to be found here in the forums. I hear the crickets chirping. It's a good indication about what EA/Mythic's view is of their Canadian customers.

It would be nice for the collection to be in the Canadian store but I won't hold my breath.

Just an update... I decided to give this one more chance and try to order the King's Collection on Origin's Canadian store. I went to the site and guess what...the product is listed! So, I start thinking that things might just work out after all. No such luck (should have known better than to get my hopes up). I go to add the product to the cart and I get the message, "Sorry, this product is currently unavailable." *shakes head*

Why would anyone even try to purchase anything from EA at this time? Unless Mesanna/Bonnie Armstrong posts a personal guarantee that everything is fixed - AND THAT THE FIX HAS BEEN TESTED- I am not going to have a charge hanging on my credit card for something that EA can't guarantee will be delivered.

I'm not blaming you or saying it's your fault in any way. Just saying that a "wait and see" approach (wait for an official all-clear posting from Mesanna) might work best for now.

Trust me if you get down and dirty with them and that survey you might find you get an email response. I blasted them on a number of occasions with the survey and actually have gotten a response. I wrote a very detailed and long report to them at the bottom of the survey in the nice blank they provide. Wasn't too nice but it did get a response.... not that anythings changed.... but It got someones attention.

I may be asking a stupid question, but you do know you have to apply the code on your account management page first, THEN claim the in-game items using the same code?

Well, don't I feel silly. Thank you Aurelius, that did the trick. I've recently come back from Lotro and don't remember shopping being so ...tedious. They could learn from Lotro's system, you can buy stuff while ingame.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to give you an update on the issues I was having getting the King's Collection through the Canadian Origin Store. After having no luck, I received an e-mail from an agent named Solenn from EA's Customer Experience Team. The agent took ownership of the issue and within a day the link was active in the store for me to download the product. We did experience an issue where I received the receipt in my inbox but no e-mail with the code. Solenn didn't give up and was able to track down the code and I am now the owner of the King's Collection.

Mesanna: Can you please make sure that Solenn is recognized for the effort given here. This was a situation where the customer service provided was excellent and communication was ongoing until the issue was resolved.
