Its 75 for elfs but it can go to 80 for them in energy.
Yes I know that, however any +5 to resists with a refinement means there is a -5 to dci.
if you use a +5 to get extra resists then the CAP on resists raises for each bit (up to 5 pieces) so if you have max refinement (ie +5) on 5 pieces of armor on an elf you can get 75/75/75/75/80. But for every +5 you add to resists you get a negative 5 to the DCI Cap.
If you want to raise your DCI cap to 70 ( ie +5 Dci refinement on 5 pieces of armor) then your resist caps drop to 65/65/65/65/70 on an elf.
In the example he has raised fire to 75 (+5 above default cap) so should get a penalty to DCI of -5 somewhere, so the DCI cap drops from default 45 to 40.
Still don't understand.
I doubt anyone but UO could make a system that was so stuffing convoluted and impossible to understand if they tried. No wonder people log into this game and go 'too hard' and log back out. What is really pissing me off, is I have 306 refinements and still don't have enough invul's or fortified or hards to make ONE five piece studded leather suit with decent refinements. I reckon if I get 1000 refinements I will still not have the ones I need. Who's brainchild was this and what were they thinking. Beats me.
