Is this Legal?

Is this use of ingame mechanics a legal way to get extra storage like storing BODs or is it just a fun thing to do to people? You obviously cannot purchase this because your backpack cannot hold all of the items.

I remember way back when, people would put piles of regs on a vendor that would weigh more than you could hold and would drop when you bought them. The house owner would then grab them and put them right back on the vendor.

I've seen this on a few vendors when using a certain vendor search site.

I guess it's legal otherwise they wouldn't be able to do it right?

Your backpak can hold 125 items as well - so just put all in you bank, go naked - and its urs...

Call a GM and tell them you wish to buy the item but game mechanics are stopping you....you just might get it after a 6 hour wait. That or you could not bother with such stuff.

This has been around for ages.... oh and by the way the weight can be as far as you can stack stuff in the bag if they used a secure near by... I have seen one with ore that was over 100k in weight

Not seen a bag of 1600 stones created lately. Years ago when a loaded packy went wild the bag they dropped reflected their weight capacity. The bag is a product of their coding opps like a titled Green Floppy Hat. Or a Verite Wizard's Hat. Now using the bag to break game mechanics would be bad. Oh and unicorns are not supposed to eat meat also,LOL.

I am curious as to how you worded the GM Page... It seems like: "A player is using an exploit with a vendor to illegally gain extra storage space in their house" would get a reaction from them.

I reported it as an exploit to store items in his house by storing them in a vendor so no one can buy it, the Gm told me he couldnt touch vendor at all, and told me to ask the owner of the vendor to change the weight so I can buy it but I repeated to the gm that the owner's intention wasnt to sell it but just to store items this way... finally he repeated me unfortunatly he cant touch vendor content and that its legal for a bag to have that much weight...

why is it a big deal if he is doing this?

don't take my question to be obtuse. I'm just asking.
He is using an exploit to gain an unfair advantage (free storage) over other players who play by the rules.

I can see why this is viewed as an exploit. But why isn't Bod storage?

Bod storage is reduced because of the book at base, then its reduced again if placed on a vendor (correct me if Im wrong). But I think bod reduced counts is a good thing since they are not stackable and you end up with a ton of bods just after a couple weeks of gathering

Because the Devs said it was ok to store BODs this way and also said it was not ok to place overweight items on vendors so nobody could buy them.

Specifically, the intent of BOD storage on Vendors was to allow Crafters to easily display their BODs for trading, swapping, advertising to look to buy missing parts for LBODs, advertising for sales between trade windows, or just plain bragging rights. The ability to store BODs at no cost is essential to all of these, and if someone isn't willing to trade, they typically aren't that good at BODs (after all, before all the changes, the primary way to get Valorite hammers legitimately was LOTS of BOD trading)

The very first post I made here was actually pertaining to in game support about players using programs to automate gameplay and the the failure to deal with it. Also ultimately being directed to a webpage that no longer existed. With screenshots. I have doubts that most of the people in charge of actually policing the game know anything about the game aside from outdated info from like 2001 and are reluctant to do their job because they don't know how. That being said I have had a couple positive gm experiences both before and after, but the majority are handled poorly and almost always favorably inclined towards the admission of ingame policy breaking.

bod books on a vendor was looked at by the dev many times and deemed ok. As many are for trade or sale. The Item(s) in a bag over weight limit for purchase is totaly a different matter. This is not legal. I have seen a GM give a warning and placed the vendor in the house crate of a neighbor who did this very thing. Had he reset it back up the GM warned the next time the vendor and contents would be deleted on sight.
As the actions between the GM and the party who owns the vendor is private you would not know if any action was taken or the results of said action. You reported it. If the matter is there for an extended time you may report it again*
* extended time is a relitive term in UO terms this could be a month. Nothing is instant kiddo.
If you feel that strongly pm Mesanna your concerns of the results the GM concluded.
