More than usual anyway. I took a couple month break from UO and come back to a bit of a surprise... transfer tokens have almost doubled in price. Did I miss something?

I know nothing about those tokens, but rumours about new gold duping have been running amok lately. My personal shop has been left rather abandoned, so maybe it's not true.

The value of gold has fallen to half what it used to be. Less people playing the game and all kinds of gold/items floating around from house falls etc. There was a huge house fall of OSI owned houses a few months back plus there just aren't people playing so low demand for gold = less value. Transfer tokens are for sale on the EA site and consumable so as the price of gold drops in terms of RL $ value - the price of them goes up.

Which, again, is my point - house falls are not good. Items should be deleted and redistributed to everyone. With a falling playerbase that means everyone has more junk than before which makes the value of gold less as people need less things.

Yes inflation. In 1988 a gallon of gas was .60 now it is $4.0, crazy.

Also Ea needs to drop there tokens to $5 (character only) $10 (full xfer with packies) $20 (entirs house contents). Other sites not to be mentioned sell them for dollars cheaper thus making everyone I know buy through them, everyone loves to save $. Come on EA....................

I have no idea about the causes of the prices of transfer tokens, but welcome back to UO.

i also heard the cost of transfer tokens (when sold on vendors) has doubled because of a gold dup.

the price for xfer tokens has gone highter simply because less poeple playing UO so alot are xferring to highter population shards like atlantic europa or pac. So its simply because the xfer tokens are more in demand, thats it dont look further...

Well.... you did just say something about "Less people playing UO" so I think that would be LOWER demand for Xfers.. I'd also like to point out Shard Shields, which elminates the need for ALOT of real Transfer tokens right there... So to recap....

Fewer UO players = Fewer people Transferring
Shard Shields = Account bound FREE Transfer Tokens 1/Month

Overall WAY less Demand.. I don't see why Transfers have gone up in Cost... Sure Gold may be more available, but then EVERYTHING would have gone up drastically & that hasn't happened..

Not Sure.

I have xferred 5x more in the last month than all my UO history ( 10 years ) , its probly the same case with alot of poeple. Poeple are xferring to atl and other high pop shards. Even if less UO players, I think the numbers of poeple xferring have quintupled (5x) or maybe more ... in the last months ...

Am I the last person in UO that has never transferred any character (other than to Test Center)?

I've never used a transfer token either... I have to wonder why would you need one? Don't you have characters on every shard by now?

And NO Doubleplay.. you can't have my gold... it's taken me 15 years to get 23 million... lol

Sometimes its simply that you can stuff you need only on ATL in a moderate amount of time.
(I.e. try to buy some begging SOTs while Halloween has not ended on any other shard.)

I acknowledge that my post had political undertones and have therefor deleted it voluntarily. Stratics indeed has the right to monitor and define the environment on this gaming forum.

However, I would like to point out that within the game, politics exists in all its glory. Isn't the economy issue and proposed solutions within the game essentially a political issue? When designing new MOB encounters with the goal of encouraging the community approach over solo attack essentially political? How about the unending debate between people who prefer trammel, those who prefer pvp, and those who pk? How about the issue of vibrant colors verses muted tones? How about the issue of people receiving skills and stats for a song verses people who think you need to work for them?

There is a thin line between what can be considered totally in game and what bleeds over from real life. Perhaps UO is real life for some, I don't know. But I propose that for Stratics, volume is good. Subjects such as those above have generated tons of posting activity. Perhaps the broader the thin line is, the better.
