It's not more than a few weeks ago, a PK was begging in the chat, to be unbanned from a vendor shop, he did not know, being banned from the house would stop him from bying from the vendors.
We do have a few stealth PK's, with poison weapon but the ones I had meet run alone.
With new shame loot, you can put together a powerful suit and be able to fight back. Most stealthers are not that powerful.
Most stealthers are blue, traveling to visite vendors or traveling in places with heavy monster spawn.
Yeah the shard really isn;t full of stealth pks I would say most don;t have stealth actually from my experiences. Yeah inbetween shame loot and imbuing it isn;t hard to get a real nice suit together fairly quickly. And on Siege most learn to have backup suits asap anyway.

I will be coming to a shard near you!

I have been making trips to other shards just to hang out... And no... I do not spam promoting/recruiting all over. I just sit there and "bank sit" with you fine folks and chat with you. So far most of my trips as been on Atlantic... Seems that is where most of the butts like to sit.

Anywhos... If you see Raja on your shard, come over and say "hellos", I will talk your ear off... :D

:mylittlepony:Thanks!

P.S.
And yes... all my chars' names are Raja. No hiding for me anywhere! ;)

Yeah while no doubt in the past there have been some really mean and nasty pks on Siege it really isn;t true that most are the kind that kill and dryloot every crafter they see.
Doesn't have to be most, just many can motivate any new people checking out Siege to return to their home shards. Nor do they need to kill and dryloot every Crafter they see, a mere to-many will do the harm.

What flavor Pker will he wind up being? Only time and whether the new crowd thins out quickly will tell. :pie:or :gun:  :( :stretcher:

Of course it is Petra. I just had to point out the fact that 1 minute she's saying how much better Siege is compared to Fel, then the next minute she's saying she has no idea how Fel is. How can someone make a comparision between 2 objects when they, through their own admission, have no idea about 1 of the objects?

I probably wouldn't even have bothered responding again, but when someone claims that Siege is better than Fel without any real knowledge about Fel. Well that just irritates me. If she would have just said that Siege and Fel are different as you did, no problem. But as usual the superiority complex that most Siege players have has to come out and claim that their shard is better. When of course the number of people playing that shard compared to regular shards has consistently contradicted their claims of "being better".

Hey look...... go try Seige if you want, I'm not telling anoyone what to do. I'm simply saying that in my experience there's a reason why Siege is a ghost town and why every 6 months someone feels the need to try to recruit people to play that shard.

hehe you realise of course, that I too play on Siege, and have done for several years now?
I've been pk'd and rezkilled, though never twice by the same player. I go home as a ghost if I have to, but I play a crafter, so what the heck does it matter if I get dry looted? I just go home and make myself some new kit.

I figured you did based on things you've said before. My point about going and trying Siege if you wanted to wasn't directed at you, but anyone else who was reading the thread and debating trying it out.

To your point about being dry looted. What does it matter if anyone gets dry looted there. Pretty much everyone runs around in easily replaceable crap. I feel like there's more risk on a regular shard due to the fact that my gear is actually worth something and if I'm hit with an insurance/bless bug I would actually lose something valuable.

We could probably spend the rest of our UO lives and beyond arguing about Siege vs Regular shards, but what's the point huh :)

Contradict yourself much?
I do read this forum and hear what new Siege players tell about the diff between normal shards Fel and Siege.

I stopped playing on Atlantic because I did not like Trammel and Fel changes to something I did not like. The shops died and it ended up like a ugly place.

Siege is still much like Atlantic was before Trammel was born. I like the way we all live in same ruleset, it build the community. I don't say, there is not community on other shards, I'm sure there is.

:) none at all. Of course the serious pvpers run around in the good stuff - or they did till faction arties. But for crafters and training pvmers, crafted items are perfectly adequate.

I sell maxed out imbued suits and weapons. People on Siege is not running around in easy replaceable crap. There is a few out there with loot like a tresure chest.

Ok well its always been a very small amount of pks that act this way. However yes it does happen and Siege is not the place for those that can;t handle being killed and drylooted once in awhile.

Agreed yes in the past most just ran around in gm armor unless you were in factions. But now? I am willing to bet some of us are running stuff comparable to stuff people wear on production shards. And yeah there are some people out there with suits that cost millions of dollars on Siege.. And all of this without insurance. So guess what ? if one of those people with the multimillon dollar suits dies...he riskes losing it all or at the very least the best pieces. Cause I will be honest if I kill someone I wonlt loot heavy but if tyou have some uber pieces of course I am going to take at least a piece or two! On a production shard what do they risk gold? Gold is easy to come by.And yes I realize a bug could happen..but over all yeah on Siege there is more risk and consequence for your actions in general.

Yeah that is what I hear from people that come over. I think people expect Siege to be like felucca on regular shards where from what it sounds like fights are often full of trash talk and in general nastiness. But from what I have heard from people that have decided to try out Siege that other then maybe a few bad apples there experiences on Siege are far better then their experiences on felucca on regular shards. Actually I think it is the lack of trammel and item insurance on Siege that play a large part in this as well. I mean for instance last week I attacked some people at a spawn then later on attacked another one of their guild members. Well shortly after this last attack they decided to come out to where I was last seen and retaliated and a big fight resulted. The thing is on a production shard since I am blue all I would have had to do is wait till I wasn;t grey anymore and log over to Trammel and bam no one can touch me! Or even if I did stay in felucca and did get killed what do I risk losing gold? so what? Anyway I could go on with this example but my point is I think because there are real consequences on Siege it kinda polices people. Not saying it works perfectly though lol but I think it helps keep some people in check knowign that you can be killed anywhere and lose everything.

Let me clarify my chuckle... I normally do not have a say in these sort of threads much any more. It would be bad form. I already know I will get many PMs about this. I already know many will post silly responses to anything I have to say here. You know what? That is OK. I trust every MOD on this forum. I trust the Admins. They trust me as well.

I even got a warning once from a rookie Uhall mod some 10 years ago for promoting Siege.

Siege is not for everyone. Get that. Maybe about one percent would think that having one character on the account would be fun. Siege is a small shard. We all pretty much know the real players. You stand by your actions on Siege. Unless you spend a lot of real life cash, you are who you are. We do have a guy that tries.... he fails every time.

In fact... if you are drama prone, or cry a lot. Please do not apply.

If trash talk or being really juvenile (even though you are over 40 and have children of your own) is your style, go some where else.

To my friends trying to let people know how really cool Siege is... They will never come to Siege. Not until they are ready to quit the game
itself.

The Dev's seem to be OK this. They will give you more bread and circus... and more... *chuckles* That is OK! It is what most ask for. The Devs have little reason to support Siege.

Except for one thing... I challenge any shard to be more vocal and loyal on the shard forum of your choice. We win by default... If we started from zero... we would still be most active.

Back to my original thought... Siege Players. They do not get us.

I respectfully disagree. I am not ready to quit. But I just moved their tonight. Of the 3 exchanges I've had with people so far, in chat and otherwise, they have been with good people.

Sure, it's only one day. But first impressions and all.. As a matter of fact, if I can get a sticky somewhere (Not particular as to where), I intend to write, in detail about my travels there. Again, this is only the first day, first attempt.. But I'm keeping notes.

Oh, and on a side note, THANK YOU to all Siege players who keep their houses public near a mining area and put in a forge. I only saw 6 or so near where I was, but they were all public and equipped. +1 to community there.

Welcomes to Siege again!

The pleasure was all mine, Lady Raja (And Freja, of course!). And don't worry about leaving.. It was 2 AM for me, so I crashed soon after.

So far I must say, the community really is different. The chat was filled with polite, complete sentences. Even Chummly (sp), that very polite red that "welcomed" me to the shard was of a higher quality than other PK's I've met. Good sense of humor.. Proper spelling and punctuation.. And the courtesy to check if you were a good mage who could rez people (Do not know WHY I didn't get the hint from that question. I blame fatigue)....These things matter.

As I said before, it's only day 1.. But it's definitely a good first day.

I will be doing some writing, of course. Probably on my blog here. Eventually, Youtube will get involved. I have a nice PC now, just need a few more things, and UO and Siege as well will get some exposure from me.

P.S. The Dread Dark Wisps already told him welcome in their way
*Mumbles* Those things are EVIL. Why not skip the implied meaning and call them what they really are - "Newbie Explorer Killers". Wonder who the dev was that had the axe to grind.. *Shakes fist* :)

Thankfully.. I remembered.. Never take what you can't afford to lose. It will make harvesting lumber... interesting.. That's for sure.

siege, for most, is the final frontier. for me, it was. i wanted a challenge and found it on siege. once established with a 18x18, millions of gold and almost every skill complete on soulstones, the challenge began to run out. eventually, the lacking player base gave me nobody to fight or nobody to fight with and it became pointless to continue playing on siege, and in result, playing all together. the great thing about UO is i can cancel my account and still come back to a hopefully busting player base, but until there are signs of that, i will remain inactive.

with that said, siege is by far the best shard and best experience that is offered in UO. if you ever played before insurance, siege is nostalgic overload.

Siege is not dead, my vendors sell more than they had done for long time, and finding a vendor selling imbuing resources is very hard, most had sold out.

So come play with us, we need loot from Abyss for imbuing, relic unraved from new loot, bold of clothes made of cotten or from wool from the sheeps.
We also need more imbuers to serve the customers asking for wares.

I see old names coming back all the time so come help us fill the shard, even if you only will be meat for the killers and not active PVP.

We do also need more PvP players, but for them to stay, we need to get more shops up running with PvP gear.

Siege is the closest you get to have the feeling of playing in a real world with a living community of all kind of playstyles, good, evil and alot neutral chars

siege ... what a pain in the butt.
one character , no recall , no trammel , no insurance , the real possibility of losing everything lurking around every corner... god i love it !

ive played 14 years now . i've been on many shards . my last stint was on lake austin . i had the skills, a really nice house, had pretymuch everything i wanted ... and was BORED OUT OF MY MIND.

it was too easy. i damn near quit . i even went and played a few free shards . they didnt cut it.

then i went to siege .
uo again is a challenge . again fighting ogres and harpies is fun . even getting attacked and running for my life was a blast . you dont have to kill the pk , you just gotta make it home alive with your measly bag o loot . never in my life has 15 k and a few gems looked so sweet !
its not for everyone to be sure . you have to be able to take being wiped out now and then . just accept it and be prepared. have a backup suit ready on the shelf . (consider it prepaid insurance)
never carry what you cant lose, and if you do get stepped on, for $%^! sake dont whine about it. congratulate the guy on a nice kill and ask for your stuff . more often than not you'll get it. (after the fight is over)

if you are truey broke and cant afford a new suit ask in general chat . most of us crafters can whip up a descent suit for around 10k and will happily give it to a noob if it keeps him playing. dont be ashamed to ask . we've all been there.

the one character rule is not popular , but it does lead to a tighter community . when one guy cant do it all, we actually need to talk to each other . (i know, what a concept) I've gone back to prodo now and then to try to talk with old friends and it just astonishes me how there can be 20 people in the bank ...and not ONE OF THEM would say hello . you wont find anyone bank sitting on siege (too many thieves) , but if you pipe up in general chat , you'll usually find plenty of people willing to talk or help. we are around . you just wont find us that easy.

ive been on siege about 5 years now and even tho i again have the skills , houses and millions in the bank , siege always provides me with a challenge . you never know when someone may be hiding around the corner just waiting to give your heart rate a boost.

see you on the field . catch me if you can !

=^_^=

I haven't been pk'd on Siege in about two years. And I don't even stealth. But seriously, ask in general chat for help. No one is in the help channel, so don't expect an answer in there. I love the community on Siege.

The boring answer is that when you post in the default text colour, regardless of the theme the reader's using, it's displayed in an easily readable colour.
When you override it with custom colours, the contrast between the text and the background can render it unreadable, which is generally undesirable from a presentation standpoint.
The two most common ones are black and white, however other colour combinations can be troublesome to read, beyond just lightness similarities.

Siege is a great shard and is keeping me around. That and I'm prepaid through the anniversary, but I wouldn't be actively logging in if it weren't for Siege. I couldn't handle seeing the other shards I like in their current state and I wasn't going to to Atlantic.
