Let's let them relax, and breathe a bit, and just skip this one out. It May be just a bad streak of luck where everything they touch turns to crap, and since last August too, I think they're all probably depressed by now. They even said they get slammed a Lot.

How about a keep Britannia Beautiful that goes on all year? This would be a great way to introduce new items.
I totally agree with this. There needs to be a turn in system that is permanent to clean up clutter not just every 3-4 years.
Maybe you can design a good system for it, that you can activate it next srping easier.Design already in progress

I just hope that the turn-in items from the previous Spring Cleaning are still on the list. I just came back to UO a few weeks ago, after being gone for a few years - I didn't get to participate in the 2008 Spring Cleaning event. I still have all the crap I collected during the Ophidian Invasion bogging down my house, lol.

- Well if it is already in progress and it looks to be 6 weeks out... why not forget about it and work on more timely/pressing issues to get more people playing? You are already aware of and have your depreciation value predicted; so why not work on that appreciation value of new life already? Unless it is imploding so much that we have to step back, a lot, in order to move forward (err, wait, has that happened before; and if so is it too many times yet?). We cannot live on the depreciation of subscribers alone, EA (<-- you must sell this primitive point, Cal)..Design already in progress

Why aren't you using the awesomeness that is the Pinco UI to map them all, Mapper?! I've made about 4m just fishing 300-odd up and flogging off the Kelp Leggings and Enchanted Essence in the last week!

i really hope the points from last spring cleanup CANNOT be used for this spring clean up, cause if they can that that is extremely unfair to people who used their points, also please DO NOT put the old rewards back in, that would kill the value of all of those items, thanks !
I agree which is why I asked for a heads up. If they wipe the points without saying something I'm gonna be hot. On the other hand, I think we should start fresh.
I hope not! too many fishing-scripters on my shard. SOS are now like ore and lumber, just another massively scripted resource.

Yes, it is that simple EA (Cal, please help EA save UO - it is this simple, if you can help EA see the light).
In such a case, would the lesson not be along the lines of "there is a lot of profit in duping, up to a point, at which those that have paid for said duped items find their purchases devalued"?
If I were a buyer of said duped item, I would ("buyer beware" notwithstanding) be very disappointed that my rare (that may not be as rare as it could be, but is still rarer than a semi-rare) was significantly devalued.
If I were a duper, I would perhaps be disappointed that an avenue of profit had closed, and then go and swim in my money-pool, Scrooge McDuck style.
I think it will hit the dupers more to be fair.. the main 2 ''rares'' on the market for sale for real money are these 2 heavily duped beauties.....and they still ask for a high price even though they have probably got chests full of em....
hit the dupers were it hurts most and close this nonsense, most people who have bought one of these in the last year will have considered that 95% chance they are buying a dupe.
It's really difficult to discern which side of the fence you are coming down on with this post. As in the past, "buyer-beware" taking its rightfully prominent place in all transactions, it could be considered obvious(?) that the item you are buying is of questionable origin. And you got to enjoy your status for a day, and can spend your points from cleanup on something you do not already have. *shrugs*

On the one side, we have "Buyer beware, you knew what you were buying" with regards to an item where the choice was "buy the likely-duped item" or "don't have anything of the sort", which is somewhat contrary to the virtual world elements of UO.
On the other, we have "The item remains only available as a duped item".
Both options are undesirable, because in both cases you're functionally punishing the wrong people. The horse has bolted, and whatever you do now, the horse is long-gone. The worst the duper will get is a slightly smaller profit margin (which they could potentially recoup by raising other items prices).

Buyer beware is the rule/law.
You cannot in any way factor in pity on the buyer when going after or prosecuting the criminal.
Its not negotiable if you want to have an effective justice system. Period.
This is one of the few points that is exactly the same ingame and rl.
