Yes we read the general Chesapeake Shard forum, discussion of EM related issues, must however, take place here.

This is not the first time someone from the SHE guild has stepped forth regarding the scheduling of events on Saturday night. Our response remains the same as it did when it was first brought up. Whenever Dross and I have the availability to hold events, we are going to hold them.

As has been stated numerous times, this is a part time gig for both of us (although sometimes it feels full time!). Due to the dynamic nature of our schedules it necessary for us to hold events at our availability. It was mentioned on the other thread that we should be scheduling events at the pleasure of the players schedules, and not our own. We take this into account when scheduling events. Saturday night is a prime time for people to play. Maybe they don't get a chance to participate in EM events on a normal basis? Maybe they can only play on the weekends? Regardless of the reason, it is sometimes necessary for us to schedule events on a Saturday.

Since September (when we began publishing month long event schedules) we have held the following events on Saturday night:

Sept 25 - PvP Fel event @ 11pm
Oct 2 - PvP Fel Event @ 11pm
Nov 13 - PvP HS Fel Event @ 9pm
Nov 27 - Castle Seige event
Feb 19 - Detective event
March 19 - Global VB event
March 26 - Nemesis Stone intro
April 16 - Fel Nemesis Event
April 30 - Fel Paws Excavation

As is indicated by the schedule, the issue is hardly an epidemic. We told the SHE guild that we'd work with them in scheduling, and I feel we've done a fairly decent job trying to keep Saturday night open. The fact still remains that sometimes it is necessary, in order for us to get done all the events that get done (particularly anything related to a global ARC like VB), to host some events on a Saturday night.

It was suggested on the other thread that we are in some way attempting to torpedo the SHE auction or otherwise disrupt its operation. This is of course completely untrue and we wish the SHE guild and its auction continued success.

Further discussion of this topic can take place at this evening's Hall of Commons meeting @ 9pm ET.

My opinion is that if you can't schedule around a shard wide event that has been going on for nearly SEVEN YEARS, then don't have your event. Some EM events have more people than our auction, but I would bet that many of the numbers you get up to and beyond our auction are cross sharders. There is nothing wrong with people from other shards coming over if they enjoy doing your events or trying to get stuff, if that is what they are into, but correct me if I am wrong: The purpose of the Chessy EMs is to serve the community of Chessy. Ignoring the people you are here to serve is not serving us. My question is who does scheduling these events at the EMs' convenience serve?

I may be an idealist, but I think that when EMs log into their EM characters they should be of the mind that their purpose is to serve the communities of their respective shards. I am not talking about just the people that they like, the people that choose to participate in the events they run, or the people that don't complain. If service is not your job, what is it?

How could this problem be repaired? EMs could choose any number of other times to run their events. For example, Friday nights, Sunday nights, Saturday at 5pm, just before the auction, ect.

I will try to make it to the HoC tonight, but I don't know what good it will do. The EMs have a job to do, and somewhere along the line they decided that they would decide when to do it without any regard towards the people they serve. I don't know how to overcome an attitude of entitlement in those chosen to serve.

After the event for the *townships* last night which was fel based, I am inclined to limit my participation if not eliminate it altoghter,to the fel events. One would think that a township and the guild assiociated with it would not attack individuals trying to role play the event, but that is speaking to highly of some.

As for holding major events on highly populated nights, I can see why the EM would try to take advantage of these timeframes, but the EMs also need to realize while they cannot do an event during the week due to their work schedule, others may work every weekend. This creates a need for EMs to possibly work different shifts, maybe some morning weekday events could be looked into also.

Huge ongoing storylines are not always needed to draw crowd, and droves of players are not needed to have a good time. (I liked the spontanous invasions in the morning at Luna on occassion, it gave bank sitters something to do.)

I was talking to Zelda earlier this morning- playing the part of Devil's Advocate and looking at the total and bigger picture. I told her we hold our auctions on Saturdays (and have for years) because for one, it is a prime time for alot of people to be able to attend because they are off for the weekend from work. I told her this also may be true for you Dudley, and for Drosselmeyer, on why you do some events at the time we do our auctions. I mentioned that we serve our community as you and Drosselmeyer do, each in our special way. Her reply to me was this may be true, but perhaps it can happen at another time, say...later in the afternoon on the same day. I told her compromise is the key and open communication would be a positive step. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the HOC meeting this night; perhaps we as a total community can come together - work together. :)

Yes, well said Shelra.

I like having choices of different things to do on a Saturday night. Whether I want to attend a nice auction, participate in a EM event, hunt with friends, or simply sit somewhere and chat. Ultimately I think players are quite capable for themselves how and where they would like to spend their Saturday evenings.

In regard to scheduling conflicts, people always have conflicts and restrictions that arise in life. Oh sure I'd love to have my cake and eat it too! But honestly if we expect everything to revolve around our own personal schedules all the time it seems a bit selfish.
