Soulstone flushing problem

My partner transferred 110 in a skill onto a soulstone and deleted the original character. He went to flush the skill off with another character and got this message:

"The amount of skill stored in this stone exceeds your individual skill cap for that skill. In order to retrieve the skill points stored in this stone, you must obtain a Power Scroll of the appropriate type and level in order to increase your skill cap. You cannot currently retrieve the skill points stored in this stone."

He has no way to simply flush the skill from the stone, because he only gets the above message and no gump. I just tried to do the same on one of my accounts and hit the problem too. Basically if you wanted to flush any skill over GM from a soulstone, the character that does the flushing has to scroll up to that cap or your soulstone won't work.

Firstly, has anyone found a way to resolve this problem, say with a GM? Seems silly having to buy a scroll when the character doesn't actually want to use the skill :D

Secondly, I'm hoping this is fixed at some point. I would suggest that the character should always be able to bring the soulstone gump up and have the option to flush the skill. With a clear warning gump, enabling the player to decide if they want to absorb skill up to their own cap or wait until they had eaten the right soulstone. Or just flush it.

Very simple: The new character does not have a power scroll that will allow his skill cap to go up to 110. You cannot add skill that is above the player's skill cap.

Buy a 110 scroll for the character and you should have no problem.

Ok, maybe I didn't make my post very clear. I know we can use a scroll on the character and that will enable him to use the powerscroll to flush the skill. What I wondered was if someone else had solved the problem without buying a scroll. My partner doesn't want to absorb the skill, only to flush it off the stone.

I don't think there's another option though, we're shopping already lol.

At least it wasn't 120 magery he wanted to flush :D

I read it quickly ---- but to my knowledge, I don't think there is a resolution.

Do you mean 'flush' as in throw the skill away completely and empty the stone?

If so, on the menu for the soulstone when you double click it (at least in classic, never tried in EC) there is an option at the bottom, "Remove all skill points from this stone and DO NOT absorb them". That literally empties the stone so you can refill it with another skill. Checked a few minutes ago, and that is certainly shown as an option on my soulstones....

Yes it does, but you cant acess the soul stone menu without having the powerscroll equivenent or higher of skill on the soulstone. I dont know why, but that just the way it is currently.

I have had this same issue. I know of no way to fix it, but to eat the scroll, or hope you have another char on the account that has that skill scrolled High enough to wipe the skill from the stone.

It would be very nice if you were just able to access the menu to delete the skills regardless. :)

So, (providing you had room)you have to be able to absorb the amount of skills you want to flush? I guess that's a safeguard of a sort they added in - they're so smart

Aye, it seems silly that any skills at a GM cap can be flushed straight away without a hitch. Use the stone, hit flush and voila. Yet anything over GM can lock you out of the gump with this message until you buy a new scroll. It happens in both clients too. Fortunately we found a suitable scroll and got it resolved, but it seems a very silly solution - buying a scroll to flush a skill :D

I think this might be an innocent mistake in the coding where someone hasn't thought "what if they delete the character who had that skill". Because otherwise you could just log that character back in and flush the skill. It only stuffs you up if the character was deleted or transferred to another shard and left the stone behind.

But, if any character can delete a skill at GM from a soulstone, I think a warning gump should be all that stops any character from flushing skills over GM. IMHO the gump should work in a consistent way.

How bizarre ... thanks for the info, I'd never have known since I have nothing above GM on stones at the moment....
