I seem to remember seeing a percentage of just how much a pets stats drop when tamed. Can anyone tell me exactly where to find that number? Or do you happen to know it?

If I remember right they can be trained to 90% of pre tame stat or 100 whatever is higher

so if stat was 120 before tame you can tame it to 108 after tame (120-12)

have not checked this in a while so may have changed

A pet's stats (STR, DEX, INT) are not subject to the same flat percentage drop like the skills are. It depends on the pet being tamed, as not all pets have their stats drop once tamed either.

For your tougher pets, the strength and dex is usually halved once tamed, but their intelligence is unchanged. Not all pets get their stats halved. Check the Hunter's Guide for the specific details of the pet you want to tame, to see if it is halved once tamed.

Any stat that is below 125 (either before or after taming) can be trained up to 125. If the stat was higher than 125, then it is locked at that value and cannot be trained higher (but you can still buff/debuff the pet with spells).

Skills are subject to this, not the creature's stats.

Alrighty... well. I just tamed a reptalon with only two hit points shy than its maximum. To my fault I forgot to check skills/stats before tamed. So, that is why I was trying to figure out if there was a formula I could follow. Fortunately I did lore it the second it was tame, so all of these numbers are "fresh" and completely untainted by being trained up.

Is there a way to tell my max values with this pet, or am I pretty much to late if I didn't lore it before I tamed it?

To back calculate what its maximum skills will be, all you have to do is divide the fresh tamed skill values by 0.8 to get the maximum values. This works best if the animal has very low (<20) Anatomy, since you then know it has next to no training/fighting done. Since your Reptalon has around 40 Anatomy, your trained values may be off from the calculated values.

hmmm. Well. If I follow that formula, then the two numbers I'm curious most about (Wrestling and Tactics) would come to: Wrestling 91.25 and Tactics 87.375

I do know that a Reptalon's Wrestling goes above 100. So... Am I reading it wrong?

Thank you for trying to help me figure it all out. The only other thing I can tell you is... the values of the reptalon I posted was beat down, before it was tamed. Does that affect it?

That is about what I got for its values, which means it can train back up to 100.0 in those skills. Any skill below 100.0, can be trained to 100.0. I think you may have tamed one that was on the low end for skills. They are determined independently from its hitpoints and resists.

Beating down a pet before taming does not affect its skills or stats. There are some pets (blue beetle, fire beetle, and iron beetle) that must be beat into submission prior to taming, but otherwise it has no bearing on the pet's tamed values.
